A 2-0 day yesterday, although I’m feeling a bit more chuffed about two other things related to Saturdays hockey.
First – called it. “I will not be surprised if people are going to bed tonight stunned that the Preds beat the Leafs though.” I had a few Leafs fan friends messaging me really surprised by that one and I was like nope – not me.
Second – someone in the comments asked about the Canes/Kings game and my comment on goaltending. I cited the Canes as an example of where they are riding high on their goaltending while their defense falters, and that’s a high variance spot where it just takes one weak outing for them to be pounded. And that’s exactly what happened yesterday as the Kings thumped them 7-2.
We also win with Wild in regulation in a solid 4-1 victory over Buffalo, and the Blues also recorded the same score over Chicago, to win the -1.5 bet.
Back to back city today probably not too much on the go but let’s have a looksee. I’ll be honest – I’m trying to avoid the results or any spoilers of the Chinese Grand Prix as I’m meeting up with my mate at lunch to watch it at the pub. So my goal is to just get off the computer as fast as possible to avoid spoilers.
Jets vs Sabres:
Jets probably win this right? I mean that road trip doesn’t give you a lot of confidence. We’d have to take them at -1.5 and the metrics don’t support it.
Blackhawks vs Flyers:
Honestly by the metrics I’d take Blackhawks here. Neither team are really backable though. But yeah if you are dying to back this one I think Hawks are worth a shout.
Blues vs Predators:
Nothing really here by the metrics. If the Preds continue to score, the Blues might be in trouble but they have solid defensive data. I predict a tight win for the Blues not anywhere near enough to take them in the required regulation.
Panthers vs Penguins:
Yeh the xG data doesn’t go with Panthers -1.5 here at all. The over might be worth a play. That Panthers offense might start performing better and the Penguins look to be a good spot for them. It’s just hard to have confidence in the Pens on the road to have their offense match it. One of those games where I’ll probably place a casual bet on the over and make that my focus.
Ducks vs Hurricanes:
Nothing here.
Golden Knights vs Lightning:
Coinflipish odds seem right.
Kings vs Bruins:
Metrics definitely lean Kings in regulation. Unfortunately it’s just below our threshold and with the B2B – eh I’ll pass.
