4 games yesterday.
The Canucks beat the Devils 4-3 in a shootout. The Stars beat the Wild 3-0 and the Wings beat Utah 5-1 to snap their 6 game road losing skid.
The Jackets won 4-3 in a shootout against the Isles after a questionable goalie interference call took away a goal late in the 3rd for the Isles. The win snapped the Jackets losing skid at 6 games.
10 tonight. Its getting to that point of the season where we get to see what teams are really made of and if they are postseason teams then they need to show us now.
Penguins vs Lightning
Pens are in 14th in the East and are slowly falling out of contention. On the road they have gone 11-18-6.
The Lightning are in 3rd place in the Atlantic and are 4 points behind the 1st place Panthers. They have lost their last 2 games. At home they’ve been great going 24-8-2.
Would lean towards the Lightning but would have to be -1.5. I’m fine passing.
Senators vs Sabres
Good opportunity for the Sens here.
They are in 7th in the East and need any and all points they can get to stay in the wild card.
The Sabres are in last place in the East and haven’t yet been eliminated but it’s basically over for them.
The Sens need points and when playing one of the weaker teams in the league they need to know that this is their game to lose. This will be Cozens return to Buffalo
I do like their chances but the only issue is that it has to be done in regulation. Looking at the data and it’s close until we get to GF/60 and GA/60 where the Sens have the advantage and also in the XG numbers. With Cozens making his return and the numbers I’m fine going with this.

Flyers vs Leafs
Flyers are in 2nd to last place in the East. They are on a 5 game losing skid and are 1-8-1 in last 10.
The Leafs are in 2nd in the Atlantic and have a chance at pulling even with the Panthers with a win here.
Like most game tonight the favored team needs to be taken -1.5. It’s the Leafs so I’m passing.
Predators vs Hurricanes
The Predators are in 7th in the Central and 14th in the West. They are a team I avoid tipping and with them falling so far in the standings I’m fine continuing that.
The Canes are in 2nd in the Metro and appear to be locked there for the next while. They are 12 points behind the 1st place Caps and 10 ahead of the 3rd place Devils. They are 9-1-0 in last 10 and 27-7-1 at home.
The Canes have better numbers in CF, GF/60 and GA/60 but it’s not enough for me to take them -1.5. I expect them to win just not sure by how many.
Knights vs Wild
Knights are 6-2-2 and on a 3 game win streak. They are in 1st in the Pacific with a 5 point lead over the 2nd place Kings.
The Wild are in 7th place in the West. They are only 4 points back of the Avalanche who are in 3rd in the Central. They have seen similar results in the last 10 as the Knights going 6-3-1 and also winning their last 3.
Big game for both teams here.
Canadiens vs Blues
The Habs are currently in 8th place in the East. They have lost their last 2 games. I would love for them to stay there and make the postseason because as a Canadian we never have enough teams in.
As much as I want the Habs to win and stay where they are they are playing the Blues who are on fire right now. They are also in 8th place in their Conference but are on a 6 game win streak.
With both teams in the same spots in their Conferences this is a crucial game and I’m passing.
Capitals vs Jets
HUGE game here.
It’s the top 2 teams in the league. The top team in the East the Caps vs the top team in the West the Jets. 2 points seperate these clubs.
The Caps have won 4 in a row and are 9-1-0 in last 10. They have a 12 point lead over the Canes in the Metro.
The Jets are 6-4-0 in last 10. They have an 8 point lead over the Stars in the Central.
I would rather just watch this game and enjoy instead of stressing out.
Wings vs Avalanche
The Wings played yesterday and won snapping their road losing skid.
The Avalanche are 8-1-1 in last 10 and have won 2 in a row. They are in 3rd in the Central. They have gone 23-10-2 in Colorado.
Would need to take the Avalanche -1.5 and I wouldn’t be surprised if it came through but the Wings will have momentum after yesterday and could make a game of this.
Kraken vs Flames
Nothing here for me.
Both teams are on the outside of the playoff picture. The Flames are in 9th and 4 points back of the Blues. The Kraken are in 13th and 16 points out.
Rangers vs Kings
The Rangers are 3-5-2 in their last 10 and they HAVE to turn things around fast. They are in 9th place in the East and only 1 point back but the teams they are chasing are playing much better than they are. They have also played 2 more games than the 7th and 8th place teams.
The Kings are currently in 2nd place in the Pacific but are tied with the Oilers for points but have a game in hand over them. They are 5 points behind the Knights who lead the divison.
I would lean towards the Kings to win here but the Rangers are in desperation time so who knows which version of the team will show up.
what a bunch of bums the Sens. Most value was on that game. You would have expected that game to be a massive game for Sens coming in with a playoff mindset and sense of urgency. That being said, Sens had way more HDSC and “deserved” way more to win.
