Well he did it. Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL and passed Gretzky. Was a crazy moment as he slid down the ice and was mobbed by his teammates. Like him or not it’s cool to say we witnessed that record being broken.
The Wild picked up a big win 3-2 in OT against the Stars. The Sens beat the Jackets 4-0. The Sabres beat the Bruins 6-3 to stay alive in the East. The Habs beat the Preds 2-1 for their 5th win in a row.
Only 5 games tonight. As Graeme had mentioned the tips will be few and far between as the season comes to an end.
Lightning vs Rangers
Lightning are 6-3-1 in last 10 but have lost their last 2 games. The are in 2nd place in the Atlantic and have clinched a spot in the playoffs.
The Rangers are 4-5-1 in last 10. They are in 9th place in the East and 6 points back of the 8th place Canadiens.
Corsi for is the same here, the Lightning have the slight edge in SF, SA, GF and GA but the Rangers are playing for their playoff lives so it’s a tough call.
Blues vs Jets
Big game here.
The Blues have won a franchise record 12 straight games. Thanks to this incredible run they’re on they are now in 7th in the West and only 5 points behind the 3rd place Avalanche.
The Jets are still in 1st in the Central and the West and have clinched a playoff spot. The Caps are making a push for the Presidents Trophy so the Jets will need to play well to stay ahead of them. They currently have a 1 point lead over them with the same number of games played.
This game could go either way. The Blues on this crazy win streak and the Jets trying to extend their lead over the Caps for the Presidents Trophy.
Kraken vs Kings
The Kraken have been eliminated.
The Kings are on a 4 game win streak and are 8-2 in last 10. They are in 2nd in the Pacific and have clinched a spot. At home they have that insane 29-4-4 record.
Would lean towards the Kings here and it would have to be -1.5. They already have their postseason ticket and won’t be moving from 2nd place win or lose here so we have to wonder if they go as hard as they would need to cover the spread here.
Flames vs Sharks
The Flames need to win this game. They need to win as many as they can to close the gap and try to get into the postseason. They are in 9th place with 85 points and the Wild are in 8th with 91 points.
The Sharks have long been eliminated. They are on a 5 game skid.
Would have to take the Flames in regulation and it shouldn’t be a problem. But their road record is 16-15-7 which isn’t that good and 5 of their last 8 games needed extra time.
Oilers vs Ducks
The Oilers are in 3rd in the Pacific and 4 points back of the Kings.
They have two games against the Sharks before the season ends which they may need if they can go on a run and try to catch the Kings.
The Ducks have been eliminated and have lost their last 2 games.
I would like to think the Oilers would come away with the win here but they still have no McDavid, Draisaitl, Ekholm or Stuart Skinner.
Easy pass for me.
