Well its finally here. The 2014 NHL Playoffs are about to begin and we are super excited for what promises to be an amazing first round of action.
Below we will go over each series and our thoughts on how they will play out and we will do this for each round and hopefully we can help you figure out who you are going to bet on.
And of course we will be doing nightly tips after tonight so lets get to our thoughts on how we think the first round will play out
(3) Canadiens vs (2) Lightning
Graeme’s Thoughts – Tampa have home ice and even odds on this one. I am taking the Habs to win the series. Habs only need Price to perform here to win it and I think they will take this series quite easily with the main line killing it.
Scott’s Thoughts – The Lightning won 3 of the 4 games between these two this year but 3 of the 4 games needed OT or a shootout to be decided.
This is going to be a good series and will come down to the goalies. And with the Lightning losing their starting goalie Ben Bishop for at least the start of the first round you have to like the Canadiens to win the first game and the series. I’m saying the Habs in 6 thanks to Carey Price.

(WC) Blue Jackets vs (1) Penguins
Graeme’s Thoughts – There’s a part of me that thinks the Blue Jackets may pick up a big upset here. I stayed away from Crosby in all my pools. But if the Penguins are going to win it I think it’s in 4 or 5. I will go with 4-0 Penguins at 7.00 odds.
Scott’s Thoughts – The Penguins swept the season series 5-0 although only one of those games had Bobrovsky getting the start
Although everyone loves the Cinderella teams, I think you’ll need to look elsewhere to find one. Pens are just far to good to get bounced in the first round. Penguins in 5

(3) Flyers vs (2) Rangers
Graeme’s Thoughts – This is one of those tight series that has a game 6 or 7 written all over it. Not much value there at 3.00 odds but I will be betting that anyway.
Scott’s Thoughts – This could go the distance. After both teams started out the season horribly they managed to save the year and make the playoffs and one will be making the 2nd round. The Rangers won the season series 2-0
This will come down to goaltending and the Rangers have one of the top goalies in the league. This could go either way but I like the Rangers in this one. Rangers in 6 but also don’t be surprised if it goes 7

(WC) Red Wings vs (1) Bruins
Graeme’s Thoughts – I was going to go for a game 5 or 6 finish but Bruins 6.5 for a sweep is too much to ignore considering how ridiculous they are playing.
Scott’s Thoughts – I hate to say it but the Bruins are going to walk all over the Red Wings in this series. And it pains me more to say this but they are my pick to win The Cup. The Bruins were incredible down the stretch and looked unbeatable. They don’t have any weaknesses.
I am a huge fan of Jarome Iginla and if my Hawks aren’t in the playoffs I’ll be rooting for him to win his first cup. Bruins in 5

(3) Kings vs (2) Sharks
Graeme’s Thoughts – I’m crazy but I smell an upset here. I think Quick steps up big here and frustrates and scares the sharks. Go with Kings to win series and I am going with a bigger odds bet of Kings winning Game 1 And the series.
Scott’s Thoughts – This could be the best series of the first round and it will be a battle. The Sharks won the season series 2-1 but each and every game was close; Sharks 3-2 in a shootout in game 1, Kings 1-0 game 2 and Sharks 2-1 in game 3.
It seems as though each year we always say “Is this the year the Sharks finally do it?” I like this series to go 7 games with the slight edge going to the Kings for the Quick vs Neimi matchup. Kings in 6 or 7

(WC) Wild vs (1) Avalanche –
Graeme’s Thoughts – I love Colorado so much. Going with them to win the series and to win the conference and to win the cup. Although main bet is on Avs vs Bruins final.
Scott’s Thoughts – Avalanche won the season series 2-1. I’m not as sold on this team as Graeme is. They are far to young and lack any real playoff experience. And remember that last year they won the draft lottery and picked first overall. Although it would be a great story going from worst to first. I was a huge Roy fan as a child so gotta root for him.The Avs will make short work of the Wild here. Colorado in 5.

(WC) Stars vs (1) Ducks
Graeme’s Thoughts – Everyone i know loves Anaheim this year. It’s easy to see why. I’ll go with ducks winning game 1 And the series. 1.83 odds for that.
Scott’s Thoughts – Stars won the season series 2-1. This is going to be Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry vs Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. The Ducks had problems slowing down the faster teams and the Stars fall into that category.
I was rooting for the Stars to make the playoffs after the Olympics and they did but I don’t see this series going their way. Ducks in 6

(3) Blackhawks vs (2) Blues
Graeme’s Thoughts – I haven’t been impressed with the Blackhawks in the last few weeks. Too many slumping games. Yeah it’s the playoffs but you want to come in hot. Taking the Blues to win the series.
Scott’s Thoughts – Both teams finished out the season badly. But once the playoffs start teams snap out of their funks or the face elimination quickly. The Blues swept the season series 2-0
You don’t win 2 Stanley Cups in 4 years by accident. The Blues are banged up and will be icing a team that will be a shell of their former self. The Blackhawks will welcome back both Toews and Kane for game 1.The Hawks will be up to the challenge in this round 1 series and will not only win the first game but the series. Hawks in 6

So excited its playoff hockey time. Wish i could place bets like who wins the series and by how many games at bovada. Can only bet who wins the series. Might have to shell out more money and open a carbon sports account to place more playoff bets. Only taking the Kings to win, only series with value, and an upset i like as well.
Me too bro. Yeah sign up with Carbon(and use our link!). They have an amazing amount of props etc and sometimes their odds are actually better than elsewhere. Last week for example I placed a big bet on Clippers to win the Championship – +1200 at Carbon, and +900 to +1000 at the rest. Not always of course but enough that it’s worth having an account there.
I don’t know much about hockey so excuse my ignorance, but what does “habs in 6, penguins in 5, bruins in 5” mean?
They will win the series in that amount of games. So Bruins in 5 means we are betting they would win the series 4-1 in games.
get on that avs bandwagon already boys. Roy has won everything as a rookie, and worst to first would be fricken great!
