A 1-2 night last night.
I do feel good though, as we stuck with our gut on the Capitals and they duly delivered with a whopping 4-0 win. Just wish we hadn’t talked ourselves out of the handicap though.
Let’s get to the NHL Betting Tips for January 29th, 2015:
Grand Salami: Over 61.5 Goals
Looking through the matchups, there are a lot of games with potential for a lot of goals. The bookies do agree there as they have the line set at 61.5(although at 2.05 odds) which works out to about 5.59 goals per game.
We like to to be a high scoring night and there’s some real good games in the mix here. So take the Over. You can bet this at Bovada for Americans and http://www.Bet365.com for everyone else..
Oilers vs Sabres Betting Tips:
We are going to do a bet that I feel almost scared writing – Oilers -1.5.
Going into the all star break, Buffalo looked absolutely horrendous. In their one game after the break against the Flames they looked the same. They’ve clearly given up but it’s worse than that – morale is at an all time low and there’s honestly nothing redeeming about the way they play.
You could count the wins the Oilers picked up in January on one hand – but what is notable is they fought so many games, battled so well, and really had a solid month. They lost against Minnesota unfortunately in their first post all star break game, but we like the Oilers to just come out absolutely flying tonight – enough to take them at -1.5 at 2.60 odds.
Blue Jackets vs Panthers:
Columbus came out huge against Washington after the all star break. They looked really, really solid. They could also have Anisimov and Murray back tonight although I expect both will be against the Lightning.
Obviously missing Bobrovsky is huge but we think they have what it takes to beat Florida. It will be a tight one, but they match up well against them and the odds of 2.10 have some nice value. With juice, we’d have that at 1.90 ourselves.
I agree that based on the stats, Edm is definitely the favourite and motivated to win and silence the media accusing them of ‘throwing’ games to benefit from the draft lottery. Hope Hall is playing so it doesn’t hurt your chances to win the -1.5.
Panthers have a chance if they can shut down the Johansen, Atkinson & Foligno line but the Jackets are resilient, play with passion and McElhinney has been steady so far. Also favour NYI & Ana tonight. Both have played and won a game post all-star break but Bos & SJ have not played for 7 days including Ott and St.L for 9 days. Interesting to see if that factors into their performances tonight.
Good luck!
