It was a 1-1 night last night with the tips.
The Oilers/Flyers game went over with ease – with the Flyers going over 5.5 on their own. The Blues/Islanders game started strong but unfortunately ended up being a push. I’d mentioned yesterday I was a bit worried about the Blues energy and I think we saw it there – they just couldn’t push the Islanders as much as they usually do.
We lost with the Lightning beating the Canucks pick in spectacular fashion. I’m still shell-shocked at that one. That was a stunning and well deserved victory for the Vancouver Canucks and I guess the Lightning don’t have their defensive woes sorted out after all! It’s possibly the changes to the lines caused that but man – that was stunning.
It was a very interesting day in the NHL. The Habs are finding ways to score that are surprising many and they were all over Schneider last night. The LA Kings came back from a few days off and yep – they lose. It really seems like “well rested” is a term we should never use to back a team this season. I’m going to have to run some numbers on that but a quick look suggests that a 3+ day break is resulting in losses faster than previous seasons. Could just be a statistical quirk at this point and I’d not use it to tip against a team – but it’s enough to put me off a game.
It’s Friday, December 9th and we’re in that sweet spot with 6 games on the board. The Oilers look to come back after last nights loss against Philly as they take on the Wild, and the Rangers take on the Blackhawks in what should be a good game.
I’ve got what I feel are 3 relatively risky picks tonight. We’ve said it before but don’t just follow us blindly – use our insights and others as well as stats to make your own opinion.
Blues vs Devils Betting Tips:
I said yesterday that I was a bit concerned about the Blues energy going into that game against the Islanders. Watching it last night I really felt they were lacking a bit and now they’re on the second half of a B2B.
The Devils will be hurting too of course after that loss to the Habs – but they’re at home where they’ve performed well enough lately and the Blues have been extremely poor on the road.
The Devils dont have a good record against the Blues. The Blues have won the last 5. However Kinkaid has been solid in net for the Devils this season and with them being underdogs I feel it’s a good price.

Oilers vs Wild Betting Tips:
These two teams played just a few days ago with the Wild getting the 2-1 result in Edmonton.
Despite that, I’m liking the Oilers at their price tonight. A lot of money went on Minnesota early which added some much needed value. The Oilers are a goalscoring machine on the road and after being rested last night I like Talbot to step it up. I know Dubs has been on fire lately and that the Wild are generally solid at home. I just have a good feeling about the Oilers tonight and the price is right for me. It’s a risky one though where the stats don’t fully back it up.

Capitals vs Sabres Betting Tips:
I really liked that performance from the Capitals against the Bruins. The Bruins were a tough, tough team that night and they did a great job at stopping the Capitals from getting shots on net in the last two periods. But I liked the defensive efforts of the Capitals and the performance by Holtby. I think that overtime win is going to give the Caps a lot of confidence going into this one.
Of course it’s hard to back them tonight. They’re a struggling team right now with some piss poor performances as of late. And going against a Buffalo team who to their credit have had some really solid performances lately – including forcing the Capitals to OT just 4 days ago. I just think the Capitals are the better team, will be more confident after that Bruins win, and will take the win here. More importantly I like the odds on them.

Maybe its just me but going on the bandwagon side of the blue jackets is with lots of value… 1.83? very good price even if its away… they have been for me the most solid team lately… Detroit is going to tighten things up but… I still think it can go the jackets way
Oilers also team total 2 AH seems very good at 1.80.
I like Oilers to win against the Wild. I watched a good part of the game last night and they are really dynamic. They are young, hungry and their defense is solid despite giving up 6 goals last night. Connor McDavid makes the best hockey players in the world look like junior players. Tonight they have their starting goalie in the net.
I like CBJ too (Cam Atkinson and I played on the same high school team. OK, 30 years apart) but Red Wings are no push-over, they are 5-1-2 in their last eight. I like over in this game.
Kincaid is confirmed for NJD. Blues are 8-2-1 in their last 11.
”Their defense is solid” based on what? They are 23rd in the GA column..
Defensively they are outmatched against the Wild, I feel this will be a typical 1 goal game, it will still be close.
Wild is definitely better defensively than Oilers. What I observed, versus stats, is an Oilers defense that battles hard, is physical, moves the puck quickly and has good D2D movement. They are young so they will make mistakes and their goaltending is not strong. I am not overstating how good their D is, it’s middle of the pack, but not the worst in the league.
1.80 for the Ducks-Sharks to go over 4.5 in regulation. I mean, this could go either way of course, and they had many low scoring games in the recent years, but if you take a look at the o/u 4.5: the Ducks are 17-10 (10-3 at home), the Sharks are 14-12 (8-5 on the road) so 18-8 home vs road. I am taking this regardless of the goalies.
Tonight like Blues, Red Wings, Wild and Ducks.
post total on 5 of 6 games are 5 with some leaky goalies and high scoring teams. 8 of the 12 teams playing tonight are in the top 15 goals per game. Might be a good night to go for the big salami over.

here is my experience: To make the cost of a subscription worthwhile your “unit” needs to be pretty high. However, I sometimes buy “special deals” and take advantage of the “free deals” that are offered at docsports. I choose Devils despite Blues beat them what 5 times in a row now,trend will end today 🙂 Blues are just awful on the road,Devils seems to play best hockey at home.Watched last night Oilers game too and how they lost is incredible so many mistakes defensively so picked Min at home.Not sure about that over2.5 for Min though.
They won quite a few recent road games, but I agree that overall they are bad away and against a disciplined team like the devils I can’t see them winning tonight, although they have been on fire, I don’t agree with the Wild game though although they won last time, Oilers did well yesterday against a flyers team on fire and conceded a lot in my opinion because of the back-up goalie, Oilers have been decent away so far and I can see them beating Wild here who are nothing special.
Oilers without Mcdavid are nothing so if you try your best to stop him (its hard to fully stop him) you got a big chance to win , wild defense is good enough for that type of game just sayin.
Defensively they are great, I do see this game coming down to a one goal margin, even though Oilers do usually score a lot, Wilds defence is hard to get past for sure.
Kinkaid>Hutton. Devils playing well at home, but an they have to outscore the Blues in this one. No defensive battle by any means. Oilers are suffering at the D-man position. I read that they have some injury issues and depth is a problem. I mean, I could’ve scored off Gustavsson last night. The Oilers “D” has a leak. Dubnyk is a top-notch goalie and the Wild are sound on defense.

Jets lost yesterday night, so I am now 4/7 +2.05 in December.
It was a good game by Jets where they completely dominate the 2 nd period but unfortunately they only scored 1 goal. When everything was appointting to OT, Rangers scored their 2 nd PP goal winning by 2-1… Overall Jets were the best team over the ice by close.

Watch out with that one. Hawks offensive stats at home are a little misleading. A lot of that scoring happened before their circus trip when they lost Toews. They have only scored more than 2 goals 3 times in their last 9 games. Looking at stats from both teams from the last two weeks I’d say this one is more likely to stay under the 5.5. But both teams are the type of team that could explode offensively at any point too. Tough one to call.

I was thinking to bet on Flyers, Penguins and Flames, since I need a good odd and don’t have a good amount to bet today.
As I have told many others. Parlaying multiple games with no bankroll is not a winning strategy. I’ve only researched the early games so far. I lean Flyers. Penguins look great right now but that should be a good game. I can’t say anything on the flames yet.

Honestly I didn’t have the time to do the research today. Busy work day and then I was traveling. I like the Sharks tonight, the over in the STL/NJD game and probably the Jackets, but like I said I couldn’t do my usual research so no official plays, just leans.
