Carey Price has been struggling a fair bit the last few weeks and it all came to a head last night with a 7-1 thumping against the Minnesota Wild.
It’s going to be interesting to see if they can bounce back from that. Obviously I wach every Habs game and one thing I’ve felt is that we’re not convincing. They’ve always surprised me this season with their ability to score goals. They’ve been a Top 5 offensive team all season long yet each day when they’re playing, I’m never convinced in their offense.
The Habs play the free scoring New York Rangers next in Montreal in what should be a bloody great game.
In other results, the Pittsburgh Penguins had a dismal performance even with Murray in net as they lost to the Ottawa Senators. That loss to the Capitals looked to have killed off a lot of their fire and confidence. Capitals look like a playoff ready team.
The Canucks vs Flyers game was a cracker – holy was that one tight game. Flyers came out on top in a shootout.
Tonight we’ve got 7 games.
Blackhawks vs Capitals Betting Tips:
The Capitals are playing some incredibly hockey at the moment. One of their biggest issues is complacency but they don’t seem to have that as they set their sights on the playoffs. They’re going up against the Blackhawks who are also playing some good hockey although they’ve got some defensive issues.
We like this one to be a good battle and with the Capitals slick offense and Hawks poor goaltending, plus the Hawks solid offenes to match we’re taking Over 5 Goals incl OT/SO.

Rangers vs Leafs Betting Tips:
The Leafs lost to the Habs almost a week ago and they’ve had a long time to think about it. We’re hoping they aren’t rusty tonight. They bounced back strong from that Capitals loss and we’re hoping for similar. Rangers have goaltending issues and of course quite the offense.
The only concern is that week long break for the Leafs. Who knows maybe they’ll return as a defensive juggernaut. This is one big test for them and we are hoping it will be competitive. Over 5.5 Goals.

Flames vs Devils Betting Tips:
The Western Canada back to back trip is always tough and the Devils usually struggle on the second leg of it. The Flames are one of many teams who battle with inconsistency this season but they’re the better team, rested and coming off a motivating win over the Sharks.
Flames to win in regulation.

I might be a sucker, but I’ll take the Islanders again.
-Tampa Bay are 1-6 on the 2nd games of back to backs this year.
-Blue Jackets are 7-2 on the 1st games of back to backs this year.
BJs are my best bet today
Yeah, i went for PL last time around and they were a massive disappointment. But with the Panthers recent home struggles + injuries and the Islanders mad (im assuming and really hoping they care) i think they will have the game i thought they would’ve had at home, tonight on the road. Im taking Islanders -1.5 at a very good price 4.14 currently.
It feels like exactly the type of game that you pass because of 1 disappointing game and then kick yourself for not going for them after they blow their opponent ouf of the water.
Exactly. I am thinking moneyline though.
Jets and Islanders are on my “do not play” list. But with that being said, I think they win tonight in FL. LOL!
Yesterday: 12-5 (+5.40 units)
Today’s bets:
TML-NYR: New York in regulation
CHI-WAS: Washington in regulation
NYI-FLA: Islanders under 2 goals
BUF-CAR: Under 5 goals
CBJ-TBL: Columbus over 3 goals
NJD-CGY: Calgary in regulation
Any thoughts?
Chicago is a frustrating team, at least for me. They are playing close games, even when you think they could win by handicap. But when I go against them, they are winning. The Caps should win, but I can’t go against the Hawks. I think it’s going to OT and then the Hawks are winning.
I know how frustrating the Hawks can be, but the Caps are playing some phenomenal hockey which should get them the win. Also Holtby will be in net.
Just to continue with the Blackhawks..I live in Chicago and watch every game. The Hawks somehow don’t put as much focus/care into regular season games. Caps do. That’s why Wash will win tonight, probably 3-2. Hawks always do better in the playoffs and Caps get bounced in early rounds.
Hey Marcus9180, just wanted to mention that you can follow my picks on : https://www.facebook.com/LawellyPreds/ If you wanted to keep on following =)
I’m already doing that.
In reg. Islanders, Blue Jackets and Coyotes. Over 5.5 @ Hurricanes vs. Sabres.
Interesting match-ups today. Seems like a lot of these games could go either side and either over or under. But here’s what I like:
Jets reg +109 – I think they are hungrier and more talented that a very demoralized Yotes team.
Blackhawks-Caps over5 -110 – with the firepower on these two teams how could you not take the over (push)?
TML-NYR over5.5 -120 – two fast paced teams with high GA and GF. I predict 9 goals total
Sabres-Canes over 5 – Two fast, hungry teams with so-so goaltending and defense.
maybe more later
NFL playoff picks
Falcons -5
Pats -15
Steelers +1 1/2
Cowboys -4 1/2

Cannot disagree with the picks. Although I cannot put my hard-earned money on the Jets. They’re on my do not trust list.I also think Wash beats Hawks in regulation.
I am with you on the NFL as well…although KC/Pitt is too tough to call for me.
Good luck!
Blackhawks @ Caps- Caps on fire and this Blackhawk team is the most overrated team in the NHL. They lack serious depth and I’m done backing them. All over the aps here.
Leafs @ Rangers- Both teams might be a bit flat coming off the bye. Rangers haven’t been the best lately but I certainly trust them more than the Leafs and they should roll
Devils @ Flames- Devils a slower team on the back half of a b2b playing in the altitude of Calgary. Flames have been a great back over the past number of weeks and I love them in this spot. Only reason not to take them in regulation is the fact that NJ has gone to OT a ridiculous 40% of the time. Regardless Flames in reg
Also like the Jets and Hurricanes
In the NFL, which is my strong suit. 4-0 against the spread and straight up last week.
Falcons -5. Seattle is a bit of a fraud in terms of many people still thinking they who they used to be. Atlanta’s explosiveness on offense should allow them to pull away. I don’t see Seattle being able to slow down Atlanta’s downfield passing attack especially with Thomas out. Seattle’s only chance is a ferocious pass rush but Atlanta has a good offensive line that will protect and give Ryan time. Atlanta 34 Seattle 21
Texans +16. If i had to pass on any of these this would be it. The Patriots will win but this is too many points for a capable defense and an overrated New England team. The quality of opponents the Pats have faced this year, specifically quarterbacks, are the worst set by far in the NFL this year. If Houston scores first in this game somehow covering this spread will be very tough for NE. I think Lamar Miller has any kind of game Houston stays within two touchdowns. Take Houston. New England 27 Houston 13
Chiefs -1. Kansas City is the definite play here despite many talking up the Steelers and others stating this is such a tough game to pick. Pittsburgh’s zone defense will get picked apart by the underrated Alex Smith and the dink and dunk style of the Chiefs is a bad matchup for Pitt. Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill will find the soft spots over the middle on this Steeler scheme and KC will control the ball. Defensively KC struggles against the run but have the personnel in the secondary with Peters Berry etc to leave them on islands and sell out against the run. Mix in Andy Reid off a bye being 19-3 and the fact that Pittsburgh has been AWFUL on the road for quite some time, Kansas City ROLLS. 24-16. BEST BET
Packers +4.5. Green Bay is remarkably disrespected by many and its obnoxious to hear those talk who seem to think the only guy on this team is Aaron Rodgers. They have a great WR core that will allow them to get by without Jordy and an offensive line that provides all kinds of time for A Rod. This is a Dallas secondary that can be thrown on and Green Bay will do that all game long. Mix in a little Montgomery on short passes and in the running game and Dallas won’t be able to score with the Packers. Green Bay has devastating injuries in the secondary much like they have all year but Dallas isn’t explosive on offense. They will be able to focus on Elliot and scheme their secondary to confuse Dak enough. Pack cover easily and likely win outright. Green Bay 31 Dallas 24
SDB what you think buddy?
first, I went 3-0 in the NHL yesterday picking over/unders and not sides. As you predicted, Caps destroyed Hawks. I had over 5.5 and Caps did it by themselves. I had over on NYR-TML and Sabres-Canes too.
Second, great job breaking down the NFL. Clearly your knowledge and insights are far superior to mine.
I agree with your Falcons pick for the same reasons.
I have Pats -15 and I’m sticking by that. I’m a long time Pats fan and have watched this team carefully this year. They are incredibly well balanced right now, with the defense playing as well as the offense. Brady has fire in his eyes after the leagues treatment of him and the team and he won’t be happy unless he has another SB ring. I think they are going to be well prepared on both sides of the ball and will outcoach the Texans. It’s very tough playing at Foxboro in December for any teams, never mind a team from the south.
Steelers-Chiefs – you made a believer out of me. I changed my bet on this game and have Chiefs -1 1/2.
I’m sticking with the Cowboys pick even though your analysis is compelling. I think Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott will get it done. Cowboys O line is very very good and will give these two the time and space they need to keep Rodgers off the field. In the first meeting with the Packers, Elliott dictated the pace with 28 carries for 157 yards while facing a defense that ranked eighth against the run by season’s end. Injury to Jordy Nelson is going to slow him down and Rodgers effectiveness down. Another problem for Green Bay: stopping the pass. Only one team, the Saints, allowed more yards in the air this season. With Elliott luring safeties into run-stop mode, Prescott is going to take advantage.
Good stuff! can’t wait for the football season to really begin!

3 wins in a row for me now by just looking for one best pick of the day, tonight’s pick is the Panthers ML
Morning everyone,
Last night saw me getting +0.8 units. I had O7.5 in Dallas game but I was backed up with the standard O5.5. Boston lost to the Preds and we saw Rask leaving the ice after hard shot taken to the face. Montreal didn’t show up in a spot where I took the U4.5 and the draw. Anaheim rewarded me as they won by the EXACT score of 4-1 and St-Louis couldn’t manage to get enough pucks at Jake Allen’s net to score at least two goals. Going into today’s game as a hockey player: I HATE those friday 13th. Half units will be placed tonight as I fear this friday 13th as always…
TML@NYR – Rangers ML (1.71)
Lundqvist is getting the start and will face Andersen, whom is getting in better shape since a couple of weeks. Here we have two goalies that want to show their respective team that they can play better and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this game going U5.5. Last time I bet on an aggressive meeting (Penguins against Leafs), the O5.5 didn’t came out for me so I’m staying away from this spot. If You have to bet, I suggest to go with the U5.5 at a great price of 2.04. In my opinion, with Rick Nash back for the Rangers, playing at home, they just have to with in in regulation.
CBH@WC – Caps in regulation (2.14)
Solid hockey since Christmas for Washington. Kuznetsov getting back to life and clicking with Oshie. Even if Ovechkin’s role has evolved from the good times when he represented every single offensive thing, he’s still a tremendous player to keep an eye on. On the other side, Chicago’s win on the road was against some poor opponents so far this season and there’s no reason to justify that they would earn a point in this matchup.
BUF@CAR – Both team to score at least 2 goals (1.75)
The last 5 meetings’ score were below 5.5 goals. These two teams want to get back to winning and I see them getting at least two goals. Can’t pass this pick at these odds as it should’ve been around 1.60
NYI@FLO – Draw (3.80), and U5 (1.9)
At first, I wanted to simply bet the exact final score at 2-2 (10.00), but it is friday 13th and from a supersticious perspective, it is bad to put my luck at risk.
-Greiss is confirmed (2.29, 927%) to face Luongo (2.34, 923%) and I definitly see that game could be a spot where Greiss collects his first shutout of the season. For those who feal it appealing, odds are 6.50 for a shutout in this game and 15.0 for Greiss to make it happen. Maybe worth a small bet.
CLB@TB – Columbus in regulation (2.38)
Only if Bobrovsky gets the start. If he’s still out with flu, I’d lean toward CLB moneyline (1.78). Vasilevski has a lot to prove since the begining of 2017 as his stats have dropped to 2.98 GAA and 904 sv%. You can’t get the starts as a No 1 goalie in the NHL with these stats. If Bobrovsky is out, my system suggests to take O2 in first period (2.95), which turns into a push if only two goals are scored. According to this bet, you might also take O2.5 in second period (2.95 odds also) in which there must have 3 goals or more to this pick to be good.
It will be interesting to see how TB shows up in the first period after they retire Martin St-Louis’ jersey. Amazing to see that back in the days, Martin St-Louis saw his original contract bought out by the Flames. His first contract in TB was a $250k «risk» for a player his size, undrafted and nothing but questionable. Anyhow, emotional sportsbetters may like Tampa to win the 1st period at 3.10 or 1.90 (Draw-no-bet).
*Tonight’s No-Brainer-Bet* 1/1 so far (you can laugh) but still building off that good start.
WPG@ARI – U5.5 (1.74)
If we were any other date than a a friday 13th, I’d bet my house on this pick considering Smith is confirmed and has things to prove. On the other side, Laine remains out for a little while and it my affect a bit the Jets. Last meeting between these teams was a 3-2 score. I like the Jets to show a strong defense after their poor perfomance against the struggling Habs. No written mistake here: Habs are struggling, Big time. Keep that on mind.
NJD@CGY – Matthew Tkachuk to get a point (1.80)
He might be one of the rookies flying under the radar this year, as well as Nick Holden (NYR). He recorded an impressive 15 points in his last 14 games and he benefits from other teams covering Gaudreau, Monahan and surging Mikael Backlund (27 years old). Brower back on the lineup, Flames should be rolling all over NJ but the odds are too poor to get it in regulation. I suggest to take CGY in live-mode where you could get better odds, like ML if they are down the Devils manage to get in the first goal.
GLTA. Comments are very welcomed.
