So both of the teams I went with yesterday, the Oilers and the Hawks, didn’t score a single goal. Ouch!
We had the Oilers to beat the Red Wings but the Wings won 4-0. The Oilers had 36 shots but Mrazek stood tall in the shutout.
Also had the Hawks to beat the Canadiens but the Habs won 2-0. This game was scoreless through 2 periods but Montreal scored twice in the third for the win. Crawford had two shutouts in a row going into this game but it was the Habs Charlie Lindgren getting his first career shutout.
The biggest news of the night was the trade of Matt Duchene. The Avalanche traded Duchene to the Sens, the Sens traded Turris to the Preds and the Avs received a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft pick as well as 3 prospects. Duchene has wanted out of Colorado for a while now, last Christmas to be exact. This is a huge move and I’m excited to see how he will respond to finally getting moved. It’s nice to see Sakic finally make a move.

Coyotes vs Capitals Betting Tips:
The Coyotes are 2-12-1 on the year. I don’t think things are going to get any easier for them in this game.
The Caps have won 2 in a row for the first time since opening the season with 2 straight.
The Caps have had mixed results this year and their 7-6-1 record shows that. It’s games like this against a struggling team at home that Washington needs to win to climb back up the standings.

However, I shy away from this particular bet – i rate both Lundqvist and Bobrivsky highly – on a good day, they’re at Fleury’s level.

Something tells me that Arizona, whilst a poor team, still pack a punch. Hence why insurance of ML instead of Regulation. Arizona know how to play – though, its few and far between. An 11 game losing run during October (against a mixed quality of teams) doesnt help their cause.
Washington are averaging 6.2 gpg over their last five games and won away at Boston last night. Back at home, a strong crowd and Ovechkin on fire as ever.
Wildcard lean:
CBJ in Regulation.
I have zero confidence in NYR this season. CBJ to gain a much needed away win and potentially leapfrog New Jersey into 1st place in the Met Division standings.

The odds should always be part of your decision making. In 15 games the Yotes have gone OT 1x. If you believe Caps are superior team than regulation offers much better odds.

I agree. With the argument you’re making for the Caps I’d bet regulation or PL. They are a much better team than Yotes, if they show up. However, CBJ and NYR are pretty evenly matched and NYR have won 3 of last 4 so they have some confidence. To me it’s not clear who wins that game, which is why I bet the over.

I can see CBJ giving NYR a hockey lesson, or crumbling to 4-4 and reaching OT and MSG crowd going crazy. Just cannot call it enough to warrant my funds being placed on it.
Re Caps vs Coyotes – regardless of who they’ve played, 5 of the last 10 ARI games have resulted in a single goal difference. Yes – the odds will always be more favourable in a Regulation win, but I don’t feel comfort in the statistic.
Well if you think there’s a slight chance the game might go to overtime you are better putting a small amount on that, you’ll get way better value than 1.45 hehe

The battle of the mediocre teams takes place in Boston tonight. Neither team has had much success with finding the back of the net and with Marchand out for the Bruins I think the score stays below 5.5. With Marchand out, as well as a few other key players, I think the Wild persevere in Beantown tonight but I’m not betting it.
I like the Caps tonight but the only value is PL so I’m taking the risky bet for one unit. 8 of the Yotes 13 losses have been by a margin of 2+ so I like the chances of cashing in. I’m also adding this to a couple of 1/2 unit parlays with (1) Wild ML and with (2) CBJ/NYR over.
CBJ/NYR over – I’m taking over, tons of scoring both for and against for these two teams. Both team 3+ GF and GA is NYR 3.7 and CBJ 2.7. I think CBJ wins but with Rangers riding the big Mo I don’t want to bet against them.
LVGK and Leafs should go over but with Austin Matthews a maybe and big chalk (6.5ou) I’m staying away from over/under. However, I do like the value of LVGK to win and I’m putting one unit on ML and 1/2 unit on regulation.
I think the over is good in the Jets-Stars game, but I’m holding off for now. If my early games do well I’ll throw a 1 unit bet at the over, otherwise i’m staying away.
No play in Wings-Nucks game, but Wings are good value. They’ve won 3 of last 4 and seem to have some good momentum. They could easily beat down a bad Nucks team
