There were 3 games on the board last night and 2 really close ones.
The Leafs couldn’t keep that momentum going as expected, and the Jackets got off to a big 2-0 lead in the 1st period. Leafs just couldn’t fight back from that and the Jackets, with Korpisalo in net, got an important 4-2 win.
I liked the Flyers yesterday but not enough to take them in regulation. I feel good about that as while they won, it was a very tight game between the two.
The Blues offense ended up being a big disappointment in their game against the Flames. This was a tight one that ended 2-1 to the Calgary Flames. The Flames are slowly but surely moving up the rankings and we’re seeing some more confident play from them. In saying that the Blues look like they’re already on their Christmas holidays.
Busy night in the NHL with 10 games on the board. Then on Friday we’ve got 4 games before the big Saturday with 15 freaking games just prior to the 3 day break for Christmas.
Let’s get to the NHL Betting Tips for December 21st, 2017:
Islanders vs Ducks Betting Tips:
Islanders offense is on fire at the moment but their goaltending has been really poor for most of December.
They’re going up against the Ducks who are conceding a lot of goals at the moment.
I’m hoping neither team phones it in here. Ducks are talking about how they have to get back to that gritty defensive style but the Islanders aren’t the best team to do something like that. Maybe their D will rise to the occassion against this top offense? But it takes a lot to stop the Islanders offense and I don’t think they have that and will turn it into a shootout.

Lightning vs Senators Bettiing Tips:
Tampa are coming off a tough loss to the Knights. They gave it their all in that game and it just wasn’t enough.
They’re not a bounce back team this season(although it’s not like they’ve had many opportunities) but I do like them to bounce back with a strong performance here similar to when they lost to the Bruins a few weeks ago, and came out strong against the Sharks.
The Senators just can’t string a streak together with their run of 2 wnding against the Wild. I think the heads will be down as they head on the road again after that tough road trip in early December.
The Tampa offense is still clicking and going strong and are always confident. My slight concern is after the amount of power play goals they just conceded that may affect things – but the Sens power play is bad this season so it shouldn’t be too much of a concern.

Bruins vs Jets Betting Tips:
The Jets have made me a lot of money this season. I’ve selectively tipped them to bounce back in certain games and it’s worked out well so hopefully it works out even better when I tip against them.
I’m taking Bruins to win incl OT/SO. I just like what the Bruins are doing at the moment. Their hockey has been solid and they are getting the business done. They stumble sometimes but come back strong. Whether it’s big wins over the Coyotes or Jackets, or grinding out solid road wins against teams like the Sabres and Flyers.
They’re always fighting in games and never giving up and I just love seeing that.
So Bruins to win incl OT/SO is the play.

Rangers. Lightning and Preds tonight.
Rangers playing some of the best hockey of the year for them. Lundqvist has been amazing with the exception of one game in his since the team started out backwards.
Lightning, as Graeme said, are clicking on all cylinders. Should have no problem with a lackluster Senators team. They’ll also be looking to get back in the win column after an awesome game in the desert.
Preds lost another great game on Tuesday. Are the best team in the west and know how to bounce back. Especially since they’re playing the Hurricanes, who just got thrashed in Toronto.
@SanDiegoBruins , would love your input here.
Hi guys, first ever post but usually look in from time to time as I am from Scotland and not much NHL talk over here!
Was just wondering if anyone ever does an anytime scorer bet and if so who is a good option to back in the league? I usually follow the caps mostly and often do Ovechkin but looking to broaden my knowledge. William hill gives decent odds i had a ยฃ10 double on last night that brought in ยฃ85 with Schenn and Couturier
Thanks for any advice
Good Day Gents looking like a great day to pick faves ,the odds are not the best but i think they’ll get it done in Regualtion.
Tampa PL
Nashville PL
Posting following on behalf of Oliver Trigg who is on a plane:
POTD- Preds Reg (85%) – Yes I got burned by the Preds backing them against the Jets, but this team has been good to me lately and with the way they’re playing it’s only a matter of time before they’re putting money back in my wallet. Tonight I think is the night- and I don’t just say that because I like the Preds. This Preds side put up a serious fight versus the Jets and it could easily have been them winning that game. Every game I’ve watched lately the Preds have come to play and play hard. The Canes? Not so much. If the Canes can get butchered 8-1 by a Toronto offence that has no Matthews and has struggled to get a goal lately what can this Preds side do. The Canes are in the worst 5 teams in the NHL in allowing goals whilst the Preds are in the top 5 in terms of goals scored per Game. The Preds are also in a revenge spot here having lost to the Canes a few weeks back in Carolina. I don’t expect this Carolina side in the form their in to do very much toni ght, and certainly not enough to beat this Preds team right now. Considering the Canes have only won 2 of their last 7 in Nashville I don’t think they’ll have much luck against a team that looks ready for the Stanley Cup final again this year. ML holds little value, but I don’t expect the Preds will let this game go to overtime again tonight..
Tampa Reg (85%) – Ottawa come into this game having collapsed against the Wild after a solid start. As has often been the case with Ottawa this season- if the offence doesn’t do enough to outscore the opposition they’ll lose. Simply put, the offence has been able to do that very much. Ottawa is just so bad, on all fronts- goaltenders can’t keep a baseball out, defence can’t even see the puck and the offence struggles to do anything u nless Karlsson decides to show up. Tampa needs no introduction- they’re electric. If they’re not winning games they go down with a fight, and that’s on the infrequent occasion they do lose. Their offense is consistently putting the puck in the net, and very few teams can meet their firepower. I just don’t see the best team in the league dropping the ball at home to one of the absolute worst teams in the league. Tampa should be fired up after their tight loss to Vegas, and will be out tonight to put the hurt on Ottawa. Look to see Tampa make it 5-1 in their favour in Ottawa’s last 6 visits.
**Considering Play*** – Oilers ML- I bet the Blues last night but I’m considering jumping over the Oilers tonight. Why? Because St Louis has some how lost the ability to find the net. Is the team missing Schwartz that much or is this just a cold streak. Either way 4 goals in their last 5 games is fairly concerning. The Oilers on the other hand look pretty positive right and are shooting the puck fearlessly. Talbot seems to have added some wind to the sails of the Oilers, and they may be turning a corner. At the time of writing this I am only considering play this. The Blues have dominated the Oilers over the years and walloped them 8-3 earlier this season. The Blues surely can’t keep missing the net, and with the Oilers it’s always a question of what team turns up. Alternatively some of you may find the value on the Blues attractive. If you want to play this you’ll have to make up your own mind and do some research- it’s more a lean now than anything else.
Bolts Regulaton, Preds ML parlay pretty heavy. Perfect situation where you have two far superior teams off a loss and at home. What you think?
I would say itโs a solid bet but watch your bankroll management
I feel like its pretty safe. Unless I’m missing something which is why I’m asking.
Bolts? What’s the name of the team? I can’t see in my bet site.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Thanks mate.
Did we learn a lesson about strong teams overlooking weaker teams who are highly motivated?
SDB , give me a reason not to bet big on Bolts regulation….. Iโm a bit worried this one spells upset .
Dave I bet big on Bolts reg parlayed with Preds ML. Superior teams off of losses at home. My favorite spot to play quality NHL teams
Very true , letโs hope they donโt let up and underestimate their opponents . Iโll follow your bet , GL brother!
We got this buddy. Thanks for riding with me!
No man, I think they win this one without looking back
Rough start , making me nervous :s
it won’t take 1 goal to beat the Bolts
Holy cow!! The preds arenโt off to a good start!!
preds ML bruins ML kings ML pitt over 5,5 stars over 5,5
> Double: Bolts ML & Preds ML – odds around 2.13
> Single: Isles/Ducks Over 5.5
Ducks, Oilers and Avalanche with 1u;
Ducks with 5u;
Stafford, Rakell and Spezza with 0.5u.
Another plus day for me yesterday, what a nice change from last week’s carnage.
At first glance it’s a difficult schedule to find sharp bets.
I think the Isles will win today but the ML odds are not favorable. They have a solid one goal advantage in GF but give up some of it in the GA. However, the Ducks are without Perry and the road trip has to be a grind so I don’t see them rallying against the speedy Isles. I’m taking regulation here for 1u at even odds.
Jets-Bs game promises to be a great one between two teams with similar arcs. I am a Bs fan but cannot tip them against the Jets because the Jets have the ability to be an explosive team with the edge in the netminder. I do like the over though. Jets have had some high scoring games against teams with high GF and I think this will be a fast paced game with lots of chances for both teams.
I think CBJ has a good chance of beating the Pens today though the argument can be made that the Pens might actually show up at home after the disaster on the road. Their goaltending is very suspect so I like CBJ to score 3 goals at -110. small bet only. I like the over on this game as well. Pens are going to step up for this one and CBJ is going to be trying to knock off the SC champs. Plenty of goals today.
Rangers ML – This should be a great game against two teams who know each other very well and are very similar. The Rangers get the edge because they owned the Devils in their last game.
I have both Tampa and Preds in regulation and PL (low bet). Both teams are playing at home and are among the league’s elite teams playing against teams that just can’t match the depth and skill of both these teams. Preds in particular are beast at home.
Chicago and Dallas should go over. Both teams have immense firepower if it shows up. Could be a wide open game with plenty of opportunities for both teams.
Staying away from Blues and Oilers. Neither team gives me much confidence.
LAK should destroy Avs. I’ll see how the rest of the night goes and then I might make a regulation bet on LAK.
Sharks are going to be looking for revenge against a much weaker Nucks team. I have them in regulation and PL.
GLTA SDB
Brother, I have to warn you on VAN vs SJ: odds are terrible. I will tip the VAN blindly on the ml and against the spread and explain to you why. I really hope it will change your mind
what are your bets for tonight then?
Wide open to other POV. Whatโs your reasoning?
Let me know which teams are you going on regulation time
If you played Van ATS it was a brilliant bet. Good on ya! Please feel free to offer different POV on my tips anytime. GL
Another thought:
Tonight we have three games where the two teams are greatly mismatched and the home team is the stronger team. This is a great place to consider PL bets. I haven’t done the research to support this but you might want to consider the following PL bets:
Bolts
Preds
Sharks (not as confident as previous two but they’re going to be on a mission to save their dignity after the recent loss in Vancouver)
My system loved the Sharks today but wasn’t sure it was factoring in the Couture injury as well as it should be so stayed away from that one.
fair enough…I’m hoping Hertl will pick up where he left off at the end of the Oilers game. I believe his line had two goals.
Joel Ward out also…huge value on
VAN ml @2.7
VAN +1 @1.65
VAN+1.5 @1.50
Boeser and Vanek are on fire
Sharks got the W but it wasn’t pretty. I can’t understand why they have such a hard time with Nucks
***IMPORTANT*** edit will follow
BOS: Spooner, Nash & Marchand ยซquestionable to play in tonight’s game against the Winnipeg Jets after being sent home from the morning skate due to illness.ยป Krejci OUT of the line-up. Shouldn’t we consider WPG ml @2.00 odds?
@G@betnhlca:disqus @@SanDiegoBruins:disqus
Indeed! Good share
All these guys out tonight?
Rask has been hot this month.. I don’t know
Kings in Regulation time
Nashville inc OT/SO
Thanks again for the detailed input from SDB and same again on behalf of Mr Trigg.
Went 2/2 last night with:
CBJ over 5.5 and Flyers over 5.5
Tonight I fancy:
Bruins ML & over 5.5
NJD/NYR over 5.5
NYI ML & over 5.5
Pens/CBJ over 5.5
TBL Reg.
Preds ML & over 5.5
Stars ML & over 5.5
Oilers ML
Kings ML
Sharks ML
Two parlays Wins & Overs seperate
Good luck to everyone.
Nice!
That is alot of bets
All suggestive Franky and really small stakes when done in Parlays. If it comes in tho ?
Going…
5.5 over NY Islanders
Kings With OT
Predators With OT
Tampa With OT
I’m actually going with Colorado Tonight. Kings have not been convincing enough and this team paid nicely when I went with them against the Penguins this week
Under 5.5 is probably the play in that game. Big play on Bolts Reg, Preds ML
well that sucked. LOL I lost $200 last night
Love it. Did you pull the thrigger on CLB ml also? @2.40
Nope, not confident enough there
I’m a little more confident in the Kings thank you are. They’ve played much better than the Pens, and are more consistent. They also love coming home after a road trip: 6-1 after 3 consecutive road games. I see the KIngs playing a really solid game and getting it done against the Avs.
Tonights im going for
– Preds in REG
– BOLTS in REG
– BOLTS PL ( that pick with tampa made me make a lot of $ this season so why not ? against a strugling team )
– Ducks vs Isles Over
Double to win
– Pens and sharks !
– Bolts and Kings !
Goodluck Mates !
Preds and Bolts regulation, sure bets
I’m all over it but don’t say sure bets, don’t want bad karma haha
Blackhawks vs Dallas over 5,5
Oilers win Reg easy
Good luck everyone!
Tampa.are you going to let me down tonight ๐ don’t go there . Big second period please
Was gonna do a long write-up on the Canes winning tonight in regulation. Then was like nah don’t want to jinx it. Up 4-0 after 7 minutes lol.
Lol what a play. 6 shots 4 goals. This Rinne is broken, bring another Rinne please. 4th puck was damn hard to catch ahah.
Pity, I like your posts. You and Lion. Look forward to seeing more of you guys.
Yeah i’ve been hesitating to post a lot this season as i’ve been working on my system a lot since last summer, and it’s not complete yet which makes me second guess myself in terms of tipping anything. Will look to post more consistently around February or so.
4-1 with two periods left. Not over yet
Yeah not celebrating just yet. I think the Preds will score more, just a matter of can the Canes add few goals too.
I guess not much going on at the end of the day, but i’ll take it. FWIW probably looking to fade Nashville in the next one against Dallas as well.
what was your reasoning, the short version please?
