It was another perfect night with the NHL Tips as we went 2-0.
We had a 1u play on the Edmonton Oilers and after a rocky start, their skill and ability stepped up and they ran out 4-2 winners.
Interesting that the Coyotes got off to such a fast start though as that
contradicts last seasons bye week situation. Of course just could be due to the Oilers and the way they are. Very curious to see how other teams react coming off the bye week.
We won with the 0.5u bet on the Chicago Blackhawks over the Winnipeg Jets. That was one I was extremely happy with as the numbers didn’t fully dictate that play. However I stuck with the confidence I have at the moment in regard to the Blackhawks at home and that worked out.
Unfortunately there are no tips today.
If you paid attention last season, the stats coming off a bye week were bizarre. Not just the results but the performances – things like the 1st period results, shot percentages etc. Everything was off.
The NHL have did what they could to change that as they saw the results as well – it wasn’t a fluke. And who knows it may be business as usual. However after last season, I just can’t advise anything at this point. I’d rather wait and see how the teams respond when they come back.
I may just be being overly cautious, but after last seasons post bye week games, I think it’d be irresponsible for me to make any tips just in case all those weird results occur again.
I’ll probably still place some bets for fun, but this is one night I’m not advising anything.
Scott likes Pens in regulation and Devils/Flyers over and Oilers to win FWIW but we’re not offering official tips tonight.

Like VGK and Sharks tonight.
I had a good or lucky night yesterday as my three away games went in with the caps, flames and oilers. It was a small bet because I was far from sure on it. Tonight I will have game from the Norwegian league, Stavanger Oilers together with the Rangers and the pens. Still going with 2 of 3 system. Heard others to feeling good about the Rangers. As for the pens I’m just going with Scott’s feeling here;) Good Luck y’all!
I cant see EDM skating with the VGK, EDM is just slow they are not that quick.
Red Wings – Pens over – Hard to pick a side here because Wings recently thumped Pens but Pens have the ability to be the best team in the league. They took it to my Bruins last game and the Bruins are a much better team than the Red Wings. Pens have Jarry in net and he’s very suspect along with a porous D. With the Pens firepower they can easily put up 4+ and Red Wings have been on a tear scoring 15 goals in the last 5. They are a faster and more skilled team than they get credit for.
Rangers all the way. They’ve been playing very well and have the best goalie in the league, certainly the most valuable goalie. With the return of Zibanejad they are mostly healthy, but are likely to be without Hayes who is a top 6. It’s a subway rivalry and will be played at MSG in front of a fired up crowd. This is a game that the Rangers don’t want to lose. Even though the Isles beat the Devils before the bye that momentum won’t carry over and they will slip back to the bad team they are.
Bruins will crush the Habs tonight. The Bs have been playing as well as I have seen in at least 3 seasons while the Habs are really struggling. The Bs goal differential is one of the best in the league while the Habs is among the worst. Bruins-Habs games are always high energy affairs and the Bell Centre is a tough barn but that won’t stop the Bruins from rolling tonight.
Golden Knights will continue their dominance tonight against the Oilers. Knights are rested and will feast on an Oilers team who had to struggle to get a W last night. Oilers destroyed LVGK in a previous game this season and you can bet that Knights will be seeking to get some revenge. Montoya will likely be in net for Oilers and he’s played well, but don’t expect him to stop the Knights onslaught.
I’m not tipping Winnipeg but I have a feeling they might come out strong tonight against the Wild. They are a better team than they’ve show recently and will be seeking some points.
No need to tell you that the Patriots will win today, but can they beat the spread? I think they will.
GLTA SDB
I’m fading Jets on the road every chance I can get. 3-10 on the road. It’s been a solid strategy for me, and I should have stuck by it last night. Their home dominance keeps their odds up on the road which makes fading them profitable. They are the better team at home, but certainly not on the ice.
I’m not betting on them because of their road form, but I would like to see them break out tonight because I like the team.
I think we are going to see a solid wild win.
You’re betting it?
Hell yes. Got someone who tails me betting $34k on it 0.0 to win $25k profit
How about over 5.5 on the penguins game? Jarry in net.
absolutely
Im thinking of over 5.5 in penguins together with sharks and VGK. Any thoughts on those two games?
Vegas Reg all day. Sharks Reg is a little more tricky but still see it. Over 5.5 is worth an average play.
What would you replace sharks with?
Bruins or Rangers are very strong plays today
Agreed! Got Rangers on my Main bet today
That sucked!
Wild ML. Odds are better at look at the stats. Wild won 4 of the last 5 at home to Jets. Sharks have had 3 OT games in their last 5 at home, and 3 of the last 5 meeting in San Jose between the sides have gone to OT. The value on reg for sharks isn’t good enough in my opinion. I’ll play it, but not very large.
Read our comments above.
Knights PL is a respectable +145
Taking it. TTO 2.5 for Wings is worth a look too
huh? 34k on a hockey game? that’s insane.
I can imagine it’s just 1 or 2u for someone, still insane.
I would have a heart attack watching the game. Didn’t believe it until he sent me the ticket.
I’m in shock, that’s not even close to the sharpest bet today. no offence to your tip 🙂
Man none taken. I told him he was a stupid git for laying that much.
What kind of guy has the bank to make a 34k bet on a midseason hockey game, Saudia Prince?
No clue man. I’m sitting her as a student trying to survive off like $850 a month lmfao.
I also think that Wild going to win against jets. Jets are very unstable team.
Pavelec in net!
He really isn’t that bad though.
He really is bad though..
No concern, he is very good. He kept LVGK to 2.
Just want to add it 🙂
He certainly didn’t have his A game today
Call me crazy but I’m thinking about to take the Oilers tonight… Don’t ask me why. I like the odds and think they COULD surprise us.
2 goals off two shots last night. Don’t think Vegas will make the same mistake as the Coyotes and let the game go. Vegas also have the best 1 goal game win ratio in the league. 14-3-2. mad.
Yeah. Would be more like a fun bet…
I thought about it too. It’s interesting that Edmonton of all teams handed Vegas their only blowout so far, beating them 8-2. There might be something about how the teams match up that favor the Oilers for whatever reason. Speed teams don’t always have the slower teams number, LA has been a difficult team for the Pens for a while now (LA under Sutter was anything but fast). But we’ll see.
If that is the case though, gaining some confidence after the win against the Coyotes (especially McDavid on a roll) and catching Vegas on the bye week, all things added together and i could see the Oilers coming up with the W.
But at the end of the day it’s hard to bet against Vegas now, i still think they’re going to hit a stretch of inconsistency soon after working so hard in the 1st half, but until i see it happening it’s not there.
detroit is really, really, really awful
Ugh tell me about it. Couldn’t manage more than one goal. So no underdog small win there, and a failed over 5.5 too. bad start to the day.
Hit it with Calgary last night, but should have listened to my instinct on two other games – Canucks and Hawks. After the day before I really didn’t want to trust my instinct, because I felt it may be off; but when I was typing Jets to win I was thinking the whole time “Always fade the Jets on the road unless they’re playing Yotes/Sabres”, I also wanted to take Canucks who had won 4 of their last 5 in Columbus as a fade of Columbus’s missing offence. Just goes to show what a weird night like two nights ago can do to your brain and confidence. Either way, my pick of the day was Calgary and I staked fairly heavily on it and came up with a profit. Now I think is a good time to reemphasize something I said yesterday- don’t rely too heavily on the rest factor and empirical data of only a few games. Panthers were coming into the game better rested, and on a 4 game home streak plus a good win over the Blues. However, most of their wins had come against sides that are struggling, and Calgary did not need to travel far to play the Panthers. They hadn’t had a hard game against the Bolts, and have had enormous success against the Panthers. The little extra rest of Panthers should not have meant you valued them over a team on a tear that had just thumped the best/second best team in the league. Anyway on to today-
Early game picks-
Rangers ML/Reg (70%/60%) – I’m considering reg, but Rangers have struggled to rack up reg wins lately. That being said this is a game they should be able to win. Islanders have had a offensive disappearance lately with three games in their last 5 where they scored 1 goal or none. Meanwhile, their defensive and goaltending issues have got worse, and a side that has struggled for road form all season is in this state is going to find it hard to win against a Rangers side who has relied heavily on its home strength. Am I about to trust an Islanders side that has conceded 29 goals in its last 6 games?! Not a damn chance. Despite the Rangers issues lately, their issues pale in comparison to those of the Rangers, and I doubt the bye week will have changed that much.
Pens v Wings – Over 5.5 (60%) – The Pens have been letting in goals left right and centre and the over has cashed in the last 7 times the Wings have come to Pittsburgh. With both teams having an offensive uptick lately, whilst still conceding I’m happy playing this on an average to small stake.
Wings ML (50%)- This may only be a 50% confidence pick but thats quite a lot considering Detroit have won 4 of the last 5 meetings, and are at a huge underdog price. Quite simply I’m taking this because I don’t think the Pens deserve this much juice considering their form. Lets put it like this- Vegas are being offered at more or less the same odds tonights and they’re a juggernaut side. Pens right now are not. This operation fade Pens and go for the bigger money. Play it small.
Later games – (WILL UPDATE WITH MORE PICKS LATER)
POTD – VEGAS REG (95%) – To me this can’t be a simpler pick. Edmonton who have been crap all season, on the end of a back to back coming up against the best home side and perhaps best overall side in the league. Oilers managed a 8-2 win in Edmonton, but that was when the Knights had injuries and Lagace in net. Today I see the Knights kicking the crap out of the Oilers, and the Oilers looking forward to the week of in sin city. I do not see Vegas racking up just their 4th loss to the Oilers who have won just 2 of their last 9 games. Hope the Oilers are oiled up (sorry) because they’re about to get smacked around.
Wild ML (will update)
Bruins Reg/ML (will update)
Dallas Reg (will update)
Kings ML (will update)
Devils Reg/ML (will update)
Sharks Reg (will update)
Also because I’ve had a few requests for a PayPal link to be tipped I will post it here. Please only tip if you really want to, and what you can afford. This is a hobby for me, and I’m only posting this as I’ve been getting a fair few FB messages asking for my bank details. Every tiny bit is appreciated. 🙂 – paypal.me/olivertr
I mentioned Vegas yesterday. They still hold good for today. I second your point about Oilers being crap, because let’s face it, they’re a world away from last years team.
I’m unsure to jump on Bruins or not. I have a feeling Habs will finally decide to play some hockey.
Pittsburgh win Reg 4 units
I don’t think I will ever understand anyones confidence in the Pens this season.
Agreed. This is a team that lost 4-1 to Red Wings not long ago
They did beat the hottest team in the league before the bye week though, and should look to bring more consistent efforts in the 2nd half. I’ve no idea how they do tonight but i think they will start winning more often than not pretty soon. That team is too talented.
I don’t remember seeing them beat Vegas? Hhhmmmm lol… Also I keep hearing how Pens are going to wake up. Is that still a valid reason to take them at this point. Like I keep hearing how Vegas are about to lose…
Nov 14
Boston is 8-0-2 and Vegas is 9-1-0 in their last 10 so technically you’re right but personally i think Boston was playing the best hockey ^^ regardless they beat a hot team
What im saying is when the Pens play good hockey and work every night it’s hard not to back them more often than not, it’s the b2b champs after all. Good teams get better in the 2nd half, happens every year
Well played
Just a funny little clip I found which I think really sums up Vegas- https://www.facebook.com/GlovesOffHockey/videos/1788999067842064/
@SanDiegoBruins:disqus
Ha! thx for sharing
Hahahahahaha that’s awesome!
Pens/Wings -> I’m on the OVER 5.5 here too
Not betting on teams coming off their week off, which includes these teams today: Montreal, New Jersey, Boston, NY Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Islanders, Detroit, Vegas, LA, Dallas, Colorado, Anaheim, San Jose, Dallas, in fact I’m taking the day entirely off betting hockey, but I still certainly expect VEGAS to win today. Vegas is extremely motivated for each game and Edmonton has little talent, no depth and is in the land of the casinos. Give me a break, this is another Vegas win. Good luck on this most screwy hockey day.
Edmonton has good squad. Yes, what they are doing is not stable on possitive way but I think they ll come back on some point. I do not see any reason for not betting on Edmonton. They can win against knights. Good luck
I think the bye week was a big factor last year at first when it was a new thing. First half of the league didn’t have a good time. But as awareness of the bye week struggles grew teams started to do a better job with it. I remember the Jackets blowing out Islanders 7-0, Ducks beating the Leafs 5-2 etc. but the difficulty of the bye week is, it really comes down to each team individually. Some teams might do a better job preparing, some might have too many guys not going. So yeah i think it’s probably a good idea to use caution on most of these bye week games.
One thing i do remember though is teams struggling prior to the bye week were bad their first game back. My theory is, the only way to get out of a slump is playing with urgency and competing hard for a full 60 minutes. Both things can sometimes be lacking coming off a break, and while on a break you can kind of forget those lost games and expect things to get better just because of a break, but you also don’t have the excitement of coming back as the teams who were winning prior. You’re just in this weird middle ground, lack confidence and flow in your game but also the urgency to get out of a slump.
We have a perfect example of this with the Devils-Flyers game. Flyers should be excited to get back feeling good about themselves and win some more games, while the Devils were on a slump and could just look lost on the ice despite actually playing pretty good hockey lately. Im really interested to see how this one goes, week ago i might’ve actually backed the Devils, but just to see if the trend continues im probably going to throw some little coin on the Flyers.
Even the Sharks lost 3 in a row prior to the bye week and were bad defensively, in a normal situation you’d expect the Sharks to come home and get this done. But coming off a bye week, this could be a good chance for Arizona to strike with a surprise W, they’ve given handed the Sharks quite a few surprise losses dating back to last year.
But yeah overall just excited to see what happens tonight and probably passing on most games. Been cashing in a lot lately and don’t want to waste that good feeling on games where there’s xtra variance with the bye week.
Vegas,
Dallas,
Sharks, all in regulation.

Couldn’t agree with you more G. Bruins, Vegas & Sharks are playing weaker teams, but overall, these games are a toss up. Prefer to wait until they’ve played one game.
Good luck! ?
Didn’t the NHL change the schedule so teams coming off byes are playing teams coming off byes? Only exception tonight is Oilers @ Knights. So should be business as usual. I don’t think in 5 days Montreal is going to start playing excellent hockey and Bruins will tank. I think bruins continue to dominate and beat Montreal by a couple goals tonight
They did. Every game has a degree of unpredictability, but a bye increases it. No doubt every returning team will be motivated but I think the difference between a win vs a loss today comes down to which team gets the lucky bounces.
Hi guys
Tonight I’m going with Bruins and Vegas.
My bookie offers a free NFL bet but I don’t know anything about American football so could someone give me some tips.

For anyone looking at this page now- I would suggest an inplay bet on Bruins ML. They look to be pushing back, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they got a goal soon. I still see a Bruins win.
And there we go 1-1. This is really why we need a live chat….
How about the referee cam!! Today is the first time I’ve seen that!!
Sorry kinda late today. Today’s picks: Vegas ML
But I also added New England Patriots -7 in a parlay.
