Ugh – do I seriously have to tear myself away from Red Dead Redemption 2 to do NHL Tips? Why can’t they just take the day off?
Oh well at least I get to report following a nice winning night. We went 2-1 with our loss being a 0.5u play.
We won with the Nashville Predators who fought hard against the Devils and managed to get the win in overtime. Funny thing about this game – I had my bets mixed up and thought we had them in regulation. So after it ended up 3-3 I was ranting and raving about my “Predators curse” (that long time readers know about) and how I can never pick anything right involving them. Then they scored in OT and I was absolutely raging.
Wasn’t until a couple of hours later I realized we had them to win including OT/SO ha! That felt nice. Curse is broken!
We had the Wild in regulation and that was a nice and easy win as the Kings have now lost 6 games on the trot.
Our loss was the Habs against the Sabres. I felt it was a very poor call at the end of the game that changed the result but either way – Habs didn’t deserve to win that one so no complaints. It was their worst game of the season by far and deservedly lost. Hope Shaw bounces back from a poor performance.
Some interesting results in the other games. Oilers come out firing with a big win over the Capitals and how about that Penguins vs Flames game? Yikes.
Luckily it’s only a 4 game night so I can get back to hunting bears. Let’s get to it:
Avalanche vs Senators Betting Tips:
Like I said with the Avs vs Lightning – I always have concerns with a team where they rely so heavily on their top line. Avs performing well but it’s when the main guys are all firing. We’ve seen how that can change a teams fortunes with the Bruins this season.
They’re going against Ottawa who have one of the worst defensive records in the league however and who allow a ton of shots.
The Ottawa offense has been on fire this season. Avs have Grubauer confirmed who was good last time out but let in 3 and 4 goals prior to that. I have my concerns with the Sens offense coming off that game against the Bruins and we have the Duchene factor which will make things interesting.
I’m backing both these teams to come out fighting after a loss. The top line of the Avs I’m hoping can perform while the Sens make it a high scoring game similar to their other games this season.

Red Wings vs Jets Betting Tips:
Always looking to back the Jets on the bounce back and I think this is a good spot for them.
They had a very poor two opening periods against the Leafs. They came out firing on all cylinders in the third period and I’ve got to hope they start the game that way tonight.
Red Wings have some serious issues at the moment but I can’t see the Jets underestimating them.
I do have slight concerns with the Jets and with the Red Wings troubles, you’ve got to think Detroit will be up for it. But I’ll go with Jets to win in regulation: 0.5u.
