No tips yesterday but it was still a good day of hockey.
Hopefully some of you backed the poll question results as the top two answers both were correct.
The Blackhawks beat the Jets 5-2. This was the Hawks 5th win in a row. Patrick Kane picked up an assist on the Brandon Saad goal and with that he joined the 1000 point club. The Hawks bench cleared and the whole team went and celebrated with Kane. He became just the 90th player to reach that number.
The Bruins were up 3-0 late in the 1st period but the Pens went and scored the next 4 goals to beat the Bruins 4-3.
The Isles vs Canes game was a close one. It needed extra time to be completed when the Canes won 2-1 in a shootout. Justin Williams returned to the Canes and scored the winning goal in the 8th round. They are going to need all the momentum they can get with them losing their best defensemen Dougie Hamilton who’s expected to miss 2-3 months.
The final game of the night was the Blue Jackets beating the Rangers 2-1. This was the Jackets 5th win in a row. Matiss Kivlenieks made his first NHL start and made 31 saves for the win.
Only 3 more days until the All-Star break. A slow night with only 2 games. Each night until the break is a fairly slow night in the number of games being played. No tips tonight but here are some thoughts on the games.
Game Thoughts
Red Wings vs Avalanche
The Wings are bad. The are comfortably in last place in the league. They are riding yet another losing skid, this time 4 games, and have been garbage on the road this season. The Avs have been good all year. The are in 2nd in the Central and the West. The odds for the Avalanche -1.5 is below our minimum 1.70 line so not tipping this game.
Panthers vs Wild
I was leaning towards the Panthers in this one but then I saw that the Wild have won seven in a row at home versus the Panthers. Both teams are on winning streaks. This is a tough one to call and I’m just going to avoid it. But let’s make this game our poll question
