We move onto the next round of the NHL Playoffs with one Canadian team being eliminated yesterday, and the remaining Canadian team moving forward.
The Habs succumbed to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers offense seemed to come alive at the right time. Interestingly 6 of the goals Price conceded in that series were all deflections.
The Flyers progress to face off against the New York Islanders, who destroyed Washington.
In the other game, the Canucks overcame the experience of the Blues for a big win and they get rewarded with a match-up against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The NHL did some schedule shuffling and now the Dallas Stars square off against the Colorado Avalanche tonight instead in Game 1.
Let’s get right into the tips:
Stars vs Avalanche Betting Tips:
November 1st: Avalanche 1-2 Stars
November 5th: Stars 4-1 Avalanche
December 28th: Stars 3-2 Avalanche (SO)
January 14th: Avalanche 2-3 Stars (OT)
Graeme: The Dallas Stars had the better of the Colorado Avalanche during the regular season.
The Dallas Stars really impressed me against the Flames. Their offense showed up a bunch and that was what they were going to need going toe to toe with the Avs. The Avs beat the Coyotes 4-1 in the series but I wasn’t super impressed other than Game 4. Game 5 was just – well the Coyotes were done at that point weren’t they?
One thing I was thinking about was whether the previous opponents may affect things here. The Stars are used to fighting hard after that Flames series while the Avs? Maybe not so much. Then when reading a variety of articles today a few others touched on that too mentioning the Avs and a lack of level of competition.
I was concerned it may be too quick of a turnaround for the Stars but maybe not having a breather could be good for them. I could also see the Stars coming out fast to begin with but fizzling out as the game goes on.
One big concern with the Stars is while they can stifle a game with their usual formula, they may struggle to go toe to toe with the high scoring offense of the Avs. That’s certainly a concern. Flames are really nothing to write home about offensively yet they were able to score a barrel load against the Stars.
I do feel there is value at least in this game on the Stars line. It may take the Avs a bit to adjust to them while the Stars hopefully come in with the same sort of fight they were showing against the Flames. This is one where I also believe Avs take a bit to adjust, so Stars could take an early lead then blow it if you’re looking at live betting.

Graeme: Both these teams are riding momentum into this game. The Avalanche beat the Coyotes the last two games with each game being a 7-1 win. The Stars were down 3-0 to the Flames but scored SEVEN unanswered goals to win 7-3.
This should be a good series. The Stars beat the better team to get here but the Avalanche are a beast who will give the Stars problems.
It’s hard to predict a winner for this game without a game being played yet. With both teams coming off of 7 goal wins I’ll go with the Over for game 1.
