Hopefully some of you took the big value on the Vancouver Canucks yesterday. It was a hard one to bet on despite the odds after Game 1 – however the Canucks showed up in style and whipped the Golden Knights 5-2 in a massive result.
Stuff like that is great for hockey. Let’s be honest the majority of people after Game 1 thought that series was a foregone conclusion. The Canucks didn’t just win but they won in style. Was awesome to see and breathed serious life into that series.
The other game taking place was the Bruins vs Lightning and it was a tight one as expected with Tampa winning 4-3 in OT which was a unanimous pick by us.
That series is seriously going to be tough to call. And welp we get to do it today.
Islanders vs Flyers Betting Tips:
Graeme: This is going to be a tricky series to call. You can’t really go with the over after seeing Varlamovs performance in the last game and also knowing how Hart performs. Makes it very tricky.
Islanders were able to get by Hart 3 times in the last game. Will he redeem himself this game? He bounced back after that Habs 5-0 game to record 2 straight shutouts.
I’m completely lost when it comes to a play. I 100% believe the Islanders are the better team. However Hart is capable of winning games on his own and the Flyers had a decent xG of 2.77 in that last game so if they can just get by Varlamov, the chance is there.
I think the Flyers come out fast looking for a goal and we see an early goal. However both regular season and playoff stats don’t really match up with that.
I don’t feel great about it but looking at the metrics I feel like the Flyers are fading. What makes this very tricky though is Hart has shown he can win a game on his own. I’ve really liked what I have seen from the Islanders so far though so am fine with Islanders win incl OT. As close as coinflip odds as possible so at worst it’s a 0EV bet.
Scott: In game 1 the Islanders kept rolling when they beat the Flyers 4-0. This was Varlamov’s 2nd straight shutout.
The Flyers outshot the Isles but they just couldn’t get one by Varlamov. I do expect them to have a strong bounce back game in this one as they try to even the series. But with the way the Isles have been playing it’s hard to bet against them and Varlamov is a wall right now.

Lightning vs Bruins Betting Tips:
Graeme: This series is incredibly hard to pick obviously. Tampa being without McDonagh is brutal although they got the win last night. Bruins confirmed Halak is in net tonight.
I’ve got to think with McDonagh out Tampa know they are going to have to focus on outscoring the Bruins more. If you look at the remaining teams in the playoffs, all goalies are actually overperforming EXCEPT Halak which is quite interesting.
I feel pretty conflicted here where I lean both the over and Tampa to win. I feel confident about Tampas goalscoring abilities tonight. I’m going to go with Tampa Bay Over 2.5 Goals incl OT.

Scott: This is going to be an awesome series. In game 2 the Bruins scored early in the game and the Lightning tied it up about 10 minutes after. The traded goals again in the 2nd period scoring about 1 minute apart. The Lightning scored first in the 3rd and Marchand tied it with less than 4 minutes left in the 3rd and force overtime. The Lightning scored at 4:40 of overtime to tie the series winning 4-3.
With this being the second part of a back to back between these teams and game 1 hitting 5 and game 2 hitting 7 I expect this game to go over as well

Avalanche vs Stars Betting Tips:
Graeme: Avs gonna come out big obviously. However these Stars man. Can’t count them out as they can’t help but score. Not much thought having to go into this one I’m fine with Over 5.5 Goals incl OT. Could be like 5-3 to one team, 8-0 Avs, whatever. Lot of potential outcomes and with the Avs down 2-0 I think they have to push offense hard here.

Scott: Well the Stars are up 2-0. They have scored 5 goals in each of their wins. Radulov scored another which gives him 3 in the 2 games this series and Pavelski scored again giving him 7 in the playoffs. They have a deep team and with them getting lots of production from not only their top line this team looks solid.
The Avalanche need to figure things out and fast. They can’t lose another against the Stars and face going down 3-0. If the Stars win again then so be it but I feel like the Avalanche win this one and try and make this a series.
