It ended up being a rather subuded day goals wise yesterday, with all three games going under the posted totals.
Tampa lead 3-1 in their series after a 3-1 victory yesterday. The Bruins look like they’re ready to leave the bubble and it’s going to be tough to see them putting in the effort to overcome this deficit.
The Flyers took the lead against the Islanders but the Islanders took over and won 3-1 to take the lead in that series.
The Knights vs Canucks saw Lehner post a shut-out as the Knights won 3-0.
We’re back to busy days with three games on the board today.
Avalanche vs Stars Betting Tips:
Graeme: Last time we saw these teams it was as if they were playing with an empty net. The Avs won 6-4 after the Stars won 5-3 and 5-2.
I said yesterday that I was concerned about how the games would go yesterday. It’s only 3 games but based on the unders all coming in it did appear to affect things. I did think the games would start quieter but that wasn’t the case with at least a goal in every 1st period.
Based on the way these two have gone you’d think we’d see the Over 5.5 goals hit again or come close to it. But after yesterday I am not too sure.
I’m going to go with No Bet here. If anything I’d probably prefer to be on the under 6 but if these two get going we know that won’t happen. There’s no consistency in period goals either (I’d expect 2nd or 3rd to be highest today but that’s just a guess).
Scott: The Avalanche managed to pick up a 6-4 win in game 3 and now trail 2-1 in the series. It was a crazy 3rd period where both teams scored 3 goals. With the win the Avalanche can now regroup and have the confidence that they can even the series up at 2 games apiece.
But the Stars are a team that just keeps going. Their last 4 games, including their series winning game against the Flames, has had them score 4, 5, 5 and 7 goals so for the Avalanche to beat them they will need to score.
Goal totals from the 3 games of this series have been; 10, 7 and 8. I’ll go with the over as each game has so far.

Flyers vs Islanders Betting Tips:
Graeme: The Islanders are proviing to be the better team in this series. They’ve managed to mount two good comebacks so far. Hart was the Flyers main weapon and he’s just not able to stop the Islanders. I took the Islanders to win yesterday. I’d like to take them again today however Flyers were able to bounce back twice against the Montreal Canadiens.
The odds aren’t high on the Islanders either. Looking at the Flyers bounce back games they usually start good in the 1st period. So let’s go with a prop bet on Highest Scoring Period = 1st. It’s a high variance play – you can tell that just by the odds – but I do think there is value in it.

Scott: The Flyers scored 1st then the Isles responded by scoring 3 in a row and held on for the 3-1 win and now lead the series 2-1. No time for them to rest as they are back at it again today.
The Flyers need to again find away to get some past Varlamov. They were shutout in game 1 but managed to score 4 in their 4-3 OT win in game 2.
I’ll go with the Flyers to even the series with a win here.

Canucks vs Knights Betting Tips:
Graeme: The Canucks got the win over the Knights on the 25th but lost their momentum with the additional break it looks like and the Knights got that 3-0 victory. Question is if things will continue that way or if the Canucks can pick themselves up.
Canucks picked themselves up before after that 5-0 drubbing by the Knights. I’d like to think they do so again. Much like Game 2 though I don’t feel I can pull the trigger on them despite the high price. On that day I took the over 5.5 so we’ll go with that again.

Scott: The Knights scored twice early in the 1st period and didn’t look back when the beat the Canucks 3-0 and lead the series 2-1.
But as we have saw already in this series the Knights win a big game like they did in game 1 winning 5-0, only to have the Canucks come back in game 2 and win 5-2.
I still like the Knights to not only win this series but to challenge for the Cup, the Knights have all of the pieces to make a run in these playoffs, but the Canucks are a great team who won’t give up. I’ll follow what happened in game 2 and go with the over.
