No tips yesterday and over half of the games needed extra time to be completed.

The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead against the Leafs but the Leafs scored in the 2nd and 3rd to tie it and force overtime. William Nylander scored for the Leafs for the win snapping their losing streak at 4 games.  The Hawks are 0-5-2 but now have many other issues to deal with, I’m not going to get into it on here but it’s not good and as a Hawks fan it’s embarrassing.

The Panthers beat the Bruins 4-1 and remain undefeated going 7-0 on the season.  The Wings were down 2-0 but tied it up to force overtime where Larkin won it for them 3-2.  The Wings have now won 4 of their 7 games on the year.

The Knights tied the game with 1:02 left in the 3rd to force overtime and Dadonov won it to complete the comeback for the Knights 3-2.  The Knights had only 21 shots in the game which was their season low.

The final game was the Flyers vs the Oilers and the Flyers won 5-3.  The Flyers scored twice in the 3rd and held on for the win.  The loss was the Oilers first of the season.

A busier night of NHL action with 9 game scheduled

Sabres vs Ducks Betting Tips:

This seems like a good game for the Sabres to continue their strong start.  Their last game saw them destroy the defending Stanley Cup Champs and have had 3 days off to rest.

The Ducks have dropped 4 in a row and have gone 1-2 at home this year.

With the odds for a Sabres win including overtime above 2.00 I think it’s worth it to back them in this game.

Sabres win incl OT/SO

Everyone Else: 2.18 Odds at BetOnline.

Flames vs Penguins Betting Tips:

The Flames are playing amazing right now.  They have won 4 in a row and all of those wins were on the road.

The Penguins will be looking to get back on track after taking the loss in their last game which was the only game this season where the failed to gain a point in.

On the year the Flames are ranked 9th in GPG with 3.5,  the Penguins are ranked 6th in GPG with 4.0.

Over 5.5 incl OT

Canada: 1.95 Odds at BetOnline.
USA: -105 Odds at BetOnline.
Everyone Else: 1.95 Odds at BetOnline.

Coyotes vs Lightning Betting Tips:

The Bolts are the heavy favorites in this one and to get and value we would need to take the -1.5 which is only worth 1.83ish.

Not worth the risk when 2 of their 3 wins have came in overtime.

Bruins vs Hurricanes Betting Tips:

The Canes are still undefeated so they are the favorites for this game.

This is the Bruins first back to back of the year so it’s hard to tell how they will respond.  I’ll instead just skip this one.

Avalanche vs Blues Betting Tips:

The Blues are still undefeated but now will be without O’Reilly.  That’s a big loss for them.

The Avalanche have been pretty bad this season going 2-4.  With O’Reilly out it would seem like a game they should win.  But with the way they have been playing this year, who knows.

Flyers vs Canucks Betting Tips:

This is the Flyers first back to back of the year.  They had a big win yesterday against the Oilers so momentum is on their side.  But it’s playing the next night after a late game and how they will respond that has me put off of betting on this game.

Wild vs Kraken Betting Tips:

Was going to take the Wild in this game but with the Kraken picking up their first win at home and with so little to go by about them I feel it’s safer to avoid this game.

Canadiens vs Sharks Betting Tips:

This will be the Sharks 2nd home game so they should come out ready for this one.   But just not feeling the Sharks this year.  If they win this game, which they probably will, then so be it.   I’m just going to skip this game.

Jets vs Kings Betting Tips:

It’s a good price on the Jets to win but they haven’t exactly been a great team up to this point.  They have won 3 in a row and and the Kings have dropped their last 5 straight.  But the Kings are at home where they have gone 1-1.  I’ll skip this one too.

Going to try the Wild for this one. Besides their loss to the preds they’ve played pretty tight and consistent. Seems like a good spot for that defense to frustrate Seattle. Talbot’s been pretty solid as well. Coin flip odds don’t sit right IMHO.

Yeah Scott liked that one. I thought it was okay but just wasn’t confident enough to pull the trigger. Still so early for the Kraken evaluation and at home coming off a good win, it was a bit tough to back it.

NHL 1st Period Stats:

Team To Win 3-Way: 0-1 (-1u)
Over/Under: 3-1 (+1.25u)

2-1 yesterday. The only loss was the heavily favoured Caps/Wings one at 1.71.

System likes a bunch of overs today. All of the following are over 1.5:

Sharks/Habs 1.80
Kings/Jets 1.83
Canucks/Flyers 1.66
Blues/Avs 1.71
Canes/Bruins 1.80
Penguins/Flames 1.83

Neat seeing Canucks/Flyers so low as that was one the system really liked.

Should note of course this is an experimental system with not a lot of data to go with bla bla. Could quite easily go 0-6 no problem tonight and I wouldn’t even blink as it’s no big deal at this stage as I try and tweak it etc.

To Win ML: Buffalo
To WIN PL: Carolina
Buffalo must be pleased with their situation this upcoming little while: after two days off, currently second in the Division, with the second lowest goals against in the entire league, they go to sunny California for what could be 4 certain and maybe 6 points, with no back-to-back games: against Anaheim, LA and San Jose, three teams in various states of rebuild. I like the Buffalo offense and defense against the Ducks.
The Carolina/Boston game looks like a Carolina WIN sitting there, but with a huge potential for a puckline win. Boston back-to-back and Cars off 2 days off. Watch out!

Sharks ML 1u and Reg .5u – Although the Sharks dropped the last two road games, they’re still a respectable 4-2 and facing a Habs team that just got destroyed by the newest expansion team. Habs are fighting time change and Sharks should be rested after road trip and looking to get on a winning track again. Hill is a little leaky but Sharks are 5th overall in GA. Good value here.

I hate betting against my team but the Canes are in a great spot here. Bs on a B2B on the road. Bs lines 2-4 are in flux due to injuries. Swayman hasn’t been great and Anderson has allowed just one goal in his last three starts and comes in at 5-0-0 with a 1.60 GAA and a .946 save percentage. Canes at -140 seems a little too short to me.

Sharks tonight. They don´t play very often but Sharks at home and Habs last win here was in 1999.

Calgary isn’t getting any respect from Vegas in this spot. I like them to continue their winning ways. They’re playing with a lot of confidence atm with a 4.25 GF during four game winning streak. Mangiapane and Lindholm are tied for the NHL lead with seven goals apiece and their PP is highly ranked. Pittsburgh has struggled to start the season and with Crosby definitely out there is value on the Flames in this spot. With DeSmith between the pipes for the Penguins, look for the Flames to close out their road trip with a win on the road in Pittsburgh on Thursday night.

Looking ahead, the Cats play Red Wings tomorrow night and the line for reg is -122. Pretty good value for the best team in hockey against one of the weakest defensively.
