No tips yesterday.
The Kings beat the Sabres 3-0. The Sabres only had 19 shots all game so it was a lighter workload in the shutout for Petersen.
The Rangers beat the Jets 4-1. The Jets took 46 shots but Shesterkin was on his game.
The Stars beat the Wild 6-3 and for the 2nd game in a row Jason Robertson had a hat trick for the Stars. What a year this guy is having. Huge win for the Stars as they are now tied with the Wild for 3rd in the Central but the Wild have played one less game so the Stars are in 9th in the West and out of the playoffs at the moment.
The Lightning scored 3 goals in 32 seconds in the 3rd when they beat the Hawks 6-3.
5 games tonight and most are, on paper, mismatches.
Kings vs Bruins Betting Tips:
Both teams are playing well.
The Kings have won 2 straight and have gone 7-3-0 over last 10. This is the final game of a 4 game road trip for them.
The Bruins are returning home after a 6 game road trip where they went 5-1. Swayman has won his last 6 starts and is 7-0-1 over his last 8.
I want to tip the Bruins here but it’s tough to do. The Kings are a better team on the road than they are at home where they have gone 17-7-5, the Bruins have gone 16-10-1 at home.
They played each other on February 28th and the Bruins pounded them 7-0.
A Bruins regulation win is light Odds at only 1.71 and with the way the Kings have been playing this could be a close one.
Panthers vs Sabres Betting Tips:
The Panthers are the obvious favorites here and to get any value we have to take the Panthers -1.5. But that’s a risk and the odds are only 1.83.
They have been scoring goals almost with ease this season. They rank #1 overall in GPG with 4.09.
The Sabres are 3-7-0 over last 10. They lost last night when they were shutout by the Kings but had scored 5 times in 2 straight games before.
I do think the Panthers win and I do think that they can and probably will cover but it’s a risk. I’m not “afraid” to tip them, I’m only afraid of snakes as they are disgusting, but if I’m taking a handicap I need more value and 1.83 isn’t that.
Leafs vs Jackets Betting Tips:
I want to take the Leafs here but they are going with Mrazek here and he has been an Achilles heel this season for the Leafs.
Similar records for these teams over the last 10 games. The Leafs have won 2 in a row and are 5-4-1, the Jackets also have won their last 2 and went 5-3-2. They have played twice this season with each team winning once.
If Campbell was starting I would have no problem taking the Leafs here but he isn’t so I have to skip this game.
Avalanche vs Islanders Betting Tips:
The Avalanche are the best team in the league and you have to wonder if they will still have the drive when taking on weaker teams when they really don’t have anything left to prove.
The Isles have been doing Isles things just rolling along and must be anxious to get this season over. They are 19 points out of the playoffs.
An easy skip for me as if and when the Avs grab the lead do they keep pushing or do they just put it into cruise control and play defense.
Oilers vs Flames Betting Tips:
I love these games. The Battle of Alberta games are usually great to watch and you can ignore the standings as there is so much history between these teams.
They have played twice this season with the Oilers winning both. Both games were high scoring with the first a 5-2 Oilers win and the next a 5-3 win.
I think the Flames will win this game. They have lost both so far against the Oilers and they have one more against them and to tie the season series with them they need to win here.
The Oilers have lost 2 in a row and gone 5-4-1 over last 10 and 16-10-4 on the road. The Flames are 8-1-1 over last 10 and are at home where they have gone 15-4-5.

To WIN moneyline: Calgary
To WIN puckline: Boston
Reverse puckline: Columbus at +1.5
Full game OVER 6.5: Columbus/Leafs
Lean: 3rd Period Over 1.5: Buffalo/Panthers
Flames are playing like a top 5 team and will be hungry for points and strategizing their busy schedule over the next week. They won’t care too much about Washington, so tomorrow’s game would be more of a risk.
LA’s (on a back-to-back) list of recent opponents suggests to me that Boston at home will be clearly too much for them. Columbus has been consistently scoring well, and Toronto is full of defensive holes. Toronto seems to have decided to rely on the run-and-gun approach, and they’re getting scored on bigtime. Being rested does not help Toronto. Volatile situation with the Leafs.
Panthers should win, but won’t care about this game much. I’m going by averages in the third period call, which is risky, because if Panthers get an early lead, they may just park the defense and let the offense take half the game off. Florida plays Pittsburgh tomorrow, and who wouldn’t want to beat them? Panthers can take the Division lead tonight, and the Lightning have a tougher schedule in the far north over the next week (including the Winnipeg Schizo Show), this it would be a good chess move by the Panthers to make this a points gathering week. Trade deadline is approaching fast, watch for lineup changes!
TOTAL GOALS: OVER 32.5 in all games combined
Just noticed Sports Interaction offers a “Grand Salami” O/U today of 32.5 goals. The matchups look like good scoring. If two teams score 6 goals, that leaves 20 goals needed from the other teams, which I see happening today. Have never bet this option before. What do you think?
I bet that sometimes just for fun. It’s a high variance play and can be a good little entertainment bet.
