Had 3 tips yesterday and went 2-1.
I had the Kings to beat the Flyers as long as Copley started. He did and the Kings won but this was a close game. They both scored twice in the 1st, Kopitar scored both for the Kings, and added another in the 2nd to tie it. Nothing in the 3rd but thankfully Fiala scored early in OT to give the Kings the 4-3 win.
Took the Avalanche to win in regulation against the Caps. This was also a close game but the Avs hung on for the 3-2 win.
I went with the Jets to win in regulation against the Preds and the Preds won 2-1. Just another reminder why I hate tipping games with them involved.
The Sharks beat the Wings 3-2 in OT, the Bruins scored late in the 3rd and added an empty net goal to beat the Habs 4-2, the Pens beat the Panthers 7-6 in OT with Letang scoring 2, one the OT winner, and adding a couple apples in his first game in almost a month.
The Devils beat the Knights 3-2 in overtime with Hamilton scoring twice including the OT winner and the Canucks beat the Blackhawks 5-2 in Tocchet’s debut outshooting the Hawks 48-14.
A slower night with only 5 games. After going through the games I can’t find anything I like enough to make it a tip.
Islanders vs Senators
The Isles have lost their last 5 games and have gone 1-6-3. The Sens have dropped their last 2 and are 4-6.
The Isles allow less goals per game than the Sens do, the score about the same amount per game and the Sens shoot more per game.
On the road the Isles are 10-12-3 and at home the Sens are 12-11-1.
I could make a case for each team to win but I really don’t know. I’m skipping.
Rangers vs Leafs
Gotta love it when two of the original 6 teams play each other. Lots of history there.
The Rangers have gone 7-2-1 over last 10 and 14-5-3 on the road. The Leafs have gone 6-3 and 18-3-4 at home.
The Rangers have won the last 2 games against the Leafs including the game played this season 3-1, they have won 5 of the last 6 against them too.
This is a tough game to call. I looked at the over but both teams are ranked in the top 10 in goals against per game. With the Leafs at home we would have to take them in regulation but the Rangers have been a decent team so it’s tough to call.
Hurricanes vs Stars
Big game here.
Both are 5-3-2 over last 10 and the Canes are in 1st in the Metro, the Stars 1st in the Central.
The Canes are 12th in GPG, the Stars 7th. In GAPG the Canes are 7th, the Stars 2nd. 2 stats that jump out at me for the Canes is they are ranked 2nd in shots on goal and 1st in shots on goal allowed.
I think that the Stars are a legit threat this year. They have Benn, Seguin and Pavelski to help guide their youngsters and Oettinger is incredible. But the Canes are no pushover so this is probably a game I would just watch as it’s sure to be fun.
Jackets vs Oilers
The Jackets are tied for last place in the league and their stats are bad. They are 28th in goals, 28th in shots, 30th in goals allowed and 31st in shots allowed. It’s not a surprise they are where they are.
The Oilers have won 5 straight and are at home where they have gone 12-11-2. It’s not that great of a home ice record but against the Jackets it shouldn’t concern them to much.
I like the Oilers to win here but to get any value we would have to take them -2.5 so it’s a no play for me.
Canucks vs Kraken
Game 2 of Tocchet as head coach. They looked pretty good last night dominating the Hawks but not sure how much of an accomplishment that is.
The Kraken are in 2nd in the Pacific and have gone 7-2-1 over last 10. The are 4th in GPG, 4th in GAPG and have the best shooting percentage in the league.
These teams have played each other 6 times since the Kraken joined the league with the Canucks winning all 6 games including the 2 they have played this season.
I want to take the Kraken to win but for some reason the Canucks have their number. The Canucks have been bad all season yet they have beat the Kraken twice. I have to skip and will kick myself when the Kraken get some revenge.
To WIN puckline: Oilers
Full game OVER 6.0: Oilers/Jackets
Full game OVER 6.0: Canucks/Kracken
The chances the Tocchet “new coach effect” will last in Vancouver, without dealing with all the root cause nightmares they have, is next to NIL after five games or so, but this being Game Two of the New Era Of Canuck Invincibility, I expect at least for the Canucks to try for 60 minutes, which against the Kracken should result in an Over. I was glad to see the fans throw Canuck jerseys on the ice and boo; Canuck ownership/GM should be replaced. Fans should reject paying for what is a sinking ship and a drunken slob ownership group.
All it will take is for Johnny Gaudreau to do his first fast rush down the ice early in the first period, and that will wake the dragon that is the Oilers offense, who will notice that old rival face and respond with a WIN and an OVER. Oilers being an old rival of Gaudreau, I expect Columbus to show up for 60 minutes and not to be entirely shut down. Oilers probably win something like 6-3. Oilers need points, the playoff race in the west is very challenging in the second half of the season. They’re rested tonight.
Got a bet boost so been brave and went with Canes, Senators and Kraken all to win, might live to regret this
Congrats on the win tonight
NYI +105
and
Seattle regulation -115
Both plays I made yesterday.
For goal scorer I’m gonna take a half unit play on Seattle’s Oliver Bjorkstrand at +220. Not the same level of confidence as some of my other goal scorer plays. His shooting percentage and goals are way down and it’s more than just a 5 game blip which is what I usually like to use. Prolly should be a stay away. But he leads the team in shots and has averaged a shooting percent of 12 in his 7 years with Columbus. I’m hoping if Vancouver does confirm Spencer Martin, it may give him a bigger opportunity to score one here. Worth a half unit but still have low expectations on this one.
Seattle regulation -115
New York Islanders +105
Seattle Bjorkstrand to score +220 half unit
Prolly should have just sat today out lol.
For Thursday January 26
I locked in
NJ -125 at Nashville
and a half unit play on
Montreal +135 vs Detroit
