The Colorado Avalanche stepped up big yesterday. In a hell of a game, they pulled the series back to 3-2 with a big 5-3 victory in Dallas. Now they look to tie it up on home ice.
We have two games today. Game 6 in the Hurricanes vs Rangers series, as the New York Rangers look to wrap it up.
And then the tied series at 2-2, as we see Game 5 of the Canucks vs Oilers.
Le’ts get to it:
Hurricanes vs Rangers Game 6 Betting Tips:
Scott: Well the Rangers blew their chance to win the series at home and now we are in Carolina for game 6.
The Canes were able to score 4 unanswered in the 3rd and won 4-1. Game 5 was also the first game to have a multi goal winner.
I did pick the Canes to win the series. After they were down 3-0 I all but wrote them off. Now that they have won 2 in a row and have a chance to force a game 7 I like their chances.
Canes win in regulation @ 2.05 odds
Graeme: A very solid victory for the Canes last time out. A few of their metrics were down and it seems to be more of a quality over quantity type deal. They also managed to shut the Rangers down offensively in some spots such as high danger chances.
The Canes have made some really good adjustments, and I’d be surprised not to see it continue tonight actually. I’m also on Canes in regulation.
Canucks vs Oilers Game 5 Betting Tips:
Scott: The Oilers were with Pickard in goal and he picked up the win in his first career postseason start.
It was an intense game that had the Oilers up 2-1 until the Canucks pulled the goalie and a Boeser shot got redirected and went in to tie it with less than 2 minutes left. Less than a minute later Bouchard scored with about 40 seconds remaining in the 3rd and the Oilers held on for the win.
With game 5 in Vancouver and the series tied its a tough call as to who will win this game. They have traded wins so far so if that continues then the Canucks should win.
No Bet
Graeme: An interesting game last time out. Canucks both goals were high danger goals. They had a brutally low xGA their 2nd worst of the series there.
I like betting the Canucks as dogs. This series really seems 50/50 and I notice diferences in the Oilers after each result where they seem to play a bit differently. I’m good with Canucks at 2.27
Still searching. I don’t want to say “no bet”, but I can’t bet on a side or full game Over/Under, so it would have to be single period Over/Under or a player prop. We’re looking at a Game 5 and a Game 6……..
Oilers Bouchard: OVER 2.5 shots, OVER 0.5 points
Looking over NHL playoff results since 2017, I can’t say the trend is overly clear, but in Round 2, it can be found that after roughly Game 4, patterns become less consistent for winners and Over/Under. That makes a lot of sense, as fatigue, play-through injuries, mental stress, line adjustments and fine-tuning player-to-player strategy take their toll to make things less predictable.
Comments coming out of the Vancouver camp indicate big frustration in many players to get things going. Tocchet is flustered at them. The Oilers established capacity for shut-down defense this year and could be they have Canuck offense obstructed enough. They also have depth scoring at the right times. The Oilers’ Bouchard is looking very dangerous when getting the puck, while their usual gang of playmakers are coordinating well. Pickard is a great find for the Oilers.
