It took double overtime, but the Oilers got off to a great start in the West with a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars.
Skinner had an overall solid game, and held up under lots of pressure which will be big for the Oilers going forward.
We’ve got Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight, as the New York Rangers look to bounce back from a pounding by the Panthers.
Here’s our thoughts:
Scott: Well the Panthers were able to get 1 past Shesterkin and Bobrovsky stopped all shots he faced when the Panthers won game one 3-0. Tkachuk scored, Verhaeghe got credited after Lafreniere accidentally put one past his own goalie and Bennett got an empty netter.
The Panthers were able to hold the Rangers without a shot for over 14 minutes in the 2nd. This is the first time in these playoffs that the Rangers have been down in a series.
With game 2 in New York the Rangers can’t go down 2-0 in the series when the next two games are in Florida. They’ll need to find a way to keep pressure on Bobrovsky. This series is going to be a goalie battle and giving Bobrovsky almost a period with no shots isn’t going to help their chances.
Rangers win incl OT
Graeme: Man, that was such an odd one from the Rangers offense. I would hope for their sake it was an anomaly.
I think we’re going to see a frantic opening with the Rangers looking to score early. I’m tempted to go with over 1.5 goals in the first period but am going to go with Goal before 9:30 instead at 1.80 odds.
Panthers in regulation. 4-0 series. It’s happening!
