A 1-1 day yesterday.
Had the Caps to beat the Preds and they did when Ovechkin scored his 8th of the season in the 3rd and they held on for the 3-2 win. I really hope Ovechkin passes Gretzky this season if not Ovie will keep coming back until he does.
Also had the Hawks to beat the Wings but Larkin and DeBrincat both had one of each when the Wings won 4-1.
Slow night yesterday to a busier night with 12 games. Despite all of the games I’m nervous to tip as Graeme has set the bar so high that it’s really tough to come in afterwards.
Predators vs Panthers
The Preds played yesterday and lost. They are on a 2 game losing skid and 1-2-1 on the road.
The Panthers are on a 5 game win streak and 3-1-1 at home.
The Preds actually have better numbers in CF, XGF and FF. But the Panthers have better in GF and GA/60 and XGA. Plus they are at home and riding that win streak. I feel it’s worth the risk to take them here.

Islanders vs Senators
Both teams around .500 on the season. Either gives me anything to be excited about and I feel better just passing.
Flames vs Bruins
Both teams are 4-5-1 in last 10.
The Bruins are the favorites here as they are at home. They are scoring less than expected so they are due to go off.
I think this game is closer than the sportsbooks would lead you to believe so I’m not tipping this game.
Penguins vs Hurricanes
These teams played each other in October and the Canes won that one 4-1 in Pittsburgh.
The Pens are struggling. They are 5-7-2 this season, 2-4-2 on the road and ranked 29th in GAPG and 30th in SOGA.
The Canes are on fire. They have won 7 straight, are 4-1-0 at home ranked 4th in GPG, 1st in SOG, 3rd in GAPG and 1st in SOGA.
Let’s look at the data. Yeah all data points to a Canes win. For us to get any value we would need to take the Canes -1.5. That’s not a crazy expectation but 2 of the Pens last 3 games needed overtime and they were against much weaker teams. I’m passing but won’t be surprised when the Canes cover.
Canadiens vs Devils
Habs have lost 4 in a row, are 2-6-2 last 10 and statistically speaking are at the bottom of the league.
The Devils startd the season strong winning 5 of their first 7 games but have gone 3-3-2 since. They are 3-3-2 at home.
Honestly I’d rather just skip this game.
Sabres vs Rangers
The Rangers should win this game. They have a good home record of 4-1-1 vs the Sabres road record of 1-3-1.
The Sabres have better numbers in Corsi and Fenwick which has me a little reluctant to tip this game. Needs to be Rangers in regulation so another pass for me.
Flyers vs Lightning
I know it’s still early in the season but a losing skid is still a losing skid.
Both teams are on one. The Flyers have lost 2 in a row and the Lightning have lost their last 3.
One things for sure and that’s that one of these skids will end. With both obviously facing some obstacles it’s tough to predict an outcome.
Blackhawks vs Stars
Hawks are a strange team. Not much is expected of them this season but they will come out for some games and be competitive.
The Stars have lost 2 in a row so I’m avoiding them until they get back on track.
Avalanche vs Jets
The Avalanche have gotten some key pieces back with Nichushkin and Lehkonen both making their season debut and few days ago.
But they will need all the help they can get when they take on the Jets.
Jets are favored here and rightfully so but I do think that with the depth the Avs got back it’s going to help them when they try and climb back in the standings.
Utah vs Blues
Utah has lost the their last 5 road games so right off the bat the Blues have the advantage.
The Blues are at home which is another help for them in this game.
Utah has better numbers in Corsi and Fenwick which has me put off of tipping this game.
Canucks vs Kings
Both teams are riding 2 game win streaks and over last 10 the Canucks are 6-2-2 and the Kings are 7-2-2.
Even their records based on where they are playing is similar. On the road the Canucks are 5-1-0 and at home the Kings are 3-0-1.
This should be a good game and fun one to watch. But I’m avoiding it.
Wild vs Sharks
The Wild lost their last game but are still a respectable 7-2-1 in last 10. They are on the road where they have gone 5-1-1.
The Sharks haven’t been very good and that was expected after the won the draft lottery last season.
To get any value here we would have to take the Wild -1.5. It’s a tough play to make. The Sharks have gone 3-3-1 at home and their last 3 games were decided by a single goal.
