Bovada, as always, brings out some really incredible betting props. And with the NHL Draft happening this weekend they have released a new batch of betting props related to the draft.

In this article we will go over each Canadian team and which position they are most likely to draft. We will go over these props and tell you the odds and our pick for the outcome. All of these bets can be placed at Bovada under the NHL Draft – Draft Props menu

It all comes down to who is available when its each teams turn to select. Sometimes teams will take the best available player while other times teams will address there immediate needs. We will go over all the possible scenarios and give you the best and most educated guess as to what will happen

Who will the Montreal Canadiens draft with their first pick (#25 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.71
  2. Defenseman: 2.10
  3. Goaltender: 21.00

Which position are the Habs in need of some help at? Well in goal they are set with Carey Price but eventually will need to find his replacement. With the outstanding seasons put together by the rookies Brandon Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk to go along with Plekanec, Bourque,Pacioretty and the rest of the skilled forwards the Habs have plenty of skill at forward. On D they have Markov and reigning Norris Trophy winner P.K Subban. With the Habs picking 25th many mock drafts have the close to the end portion of the draft having a nice amount of forwards being available and I think the Habs will select one.

Place your bet at Bovada on who will be taken with the Habs first pick in this years draft

Who will the Ottawa Senators draft with their first pick (#17 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.63
  2. Defenseman: 2.30
  3. Goaltender: 16.00

The Sens are a team full of incredible young talent. But with Alfredsson on the last legs of his career you would have to think that they would be looking for a forward to at least help ease the burden of losing the face of your franchise. But as the Sens showed last year they can get goal scoring from just about anybody. The Sens are in position to have a shot at a couple of young defensemen according to a few mock drafts and could use some help for Karlsson. There is a good shot the Sens use this pick on a defenseman.

Bet the Senators will take a defensemen with their first pick in the draft at Bovada

Who will the Toronto Maple Leafs draft with their first pick (#21 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.57
  2. Defenseman: 2.45
  3. Goaltender: 16.00

With the recent trade to land the Maple Leafs Jonathan Bernier they are set in goal with him and James Reimer. The Leafs have so many NHL caliber defensemen so they should avoid this position also. A problem the Leafs have had since Mats Sundin left was a true #1 center. I think the Leafs will yet again try to tackle this problem and grab a center for the future here. So the safe bet is to bet on that the Leafs will use their first pick on a forward.

Think the Maple Leafs will go for another Center to ride with Kessel? So do I so go bet that the Leafs will use their first pick on a forward at Bovada

Who will the Calgary Flames draft with their first pick (#6 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.59
  2. Defenseman: 2.50
  3. Goaltender: 13.00

Calgary needs help….well pretty much everywhere. They have 3 picks in the first round so they will be able to address some of their problems in this round alone. But up at the top of the Draft board there is a large amount of skilled forwards available. They are in need of goals especially after losing Iginla so look for the Flames to grab a forward with their first pick in this years draft.

Bet the Flames select a forward with the 1st of their 3 picks at Bovada

Who will the Edmonton Oilers draft with their first pick (#7 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.63
  2. Defenseman: 2.30
  3. Goaltender: 16.00

The Oilers have had so many high first round picks including 3 in a row at first overall and all of those picks have been used on forwards. Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov this team doesn’t need help up front. And with big solid defensemen Darnell Nurse expected to be available in this spot look for the Oilers to take a defensemen with their first pick this year.

Let’s hope the Oilers address their major need and choose a defensemen with their first pick in this years draft at Bovada

Who will the Vancouver Canucks draft with their first pick (#24 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.57
  2. Defenseman: 2.45
  3. Goaltender: 16.00

The Canucks have plenty of talent at forward and have just had to deal with having 2 number 1 goalies on the same team. The Canucks have made some mistakes with the signing of some defensemen for way more than they are worth. Look for the Canucks to try to fix that problem by taking a defensemen in this spot

Bet the Canucks take a defensemen, probably from Sweden, at Bovada

Who will the Winnipeg Jets draft with their first pick (#13 Overall) in the draft?

  1. Forward: 1.57
  2. Defenseman: 2.45
  3. Goaltender: 16.00

There is expected to be a bunch of good forwards available when the Jets make their selection. I think this will be a pick based on who the best available player left is. They are strong on D, Have some solid forwards and have some reliable goaltending. They Jets will take a forward in this spot.

The Jets will take a forward in this years draft at the 13th spot. So place this bet at Bovada

This is a 3 part series – Part 2 and Part 3.
