The Pacific Division in the NHL is a division with a lot of intrigue and interest this season, and I am really looking forward to it.
You’ve got heavy favourites to win the Division in the Vegas Golden Knights of course. Then there is the almost afterthought these days of the Edmonton OIlers.
We’ve also got the new NHL franchise, the Seattle Kraken. Will we see a repeat of the Vegas Golden Knights debut year? While it’s doubtful – everyone thought the same about the Knights and they all came together.
Should be a fun division to watch for all fans except Ducks fans. They’re in for a rough ride this year.

NHL Pacific Division Winner Betting Tips:
With the odds being unbettable for me for the Knights I decided to look through the other teams to see who I would pick to pull off this division. Looking at it – I gotta go with the Edmonton Oilers.
Yes yes I know – it’s the Oilers. They won’t. But on paper, they look to be the team that will give the Knights their biggest change. Two guys who can win games on their own in McDavid and Draisaitl. Some good moves to bolster their team. I really like that Derek Ryan pickup. I’m ready to embrace Duncan Keith.
Goaltending is the usual issue, but if anyone can contend with the Knights, I’d be betting the Oilers. In saying that – if you are Canadian I’d probably look at the Knights instead. Read below.

Vegas Golden Knights
I mean we know the Knights are damn good. They have the depth, top five team on offense and defense etc. They should dominate this division. I like the signing of Dadonov as well and think he will have a solid year.
The only real negative you can say is they don’t have the depth at goalie anymore. Brossoit is no Fleury and while Lehner is excellent – that could prove costly for them. They do have excellent defense though. I do expect Knights take this division as they are easily the best team.
Here’s the thing – the odds for the Knights at Sports Interaction (SIA) make me want to bet them instead as I feel there is enough value there. So if you are Canadian I’d probably bet the Knights over the Oilers.

Calgary Flames
One big thing for me is Sutter. When he came in last season I saw a lot of positives from the Flames. Last season was a mess for them with players nor performing, regressing etc. But there were some positives such as Lindholm.
Despite that it’s hard not to look at this team and just think how bloody average they are. I do think they will perform better than last season though.

LA Kings
This team made some good moves during the off-season and I think Danault will be excellent here. Arvidsson too I think will play well.
Kings though haven’t did enough in the defensive end I feel.
I think Kings make the playoffs but don’t see them being able to win the division. In saying that considering they are 13.00 to win at lots of books, but as high as 34.00 elsewhere? That’s a massive mismatch and may be worth a small value bet.

Seattle Kraken
Lot of excitement over the Kraken and it is funny seeing the sportsbooks giving them a lot more respect compared to the Knights first season in the league.
It almost means that the Kraken are coming in under a lot of pressure already. Worse – you won’t have teams coming in and partying all night before the games, like was theorized in Vegas.
They do have a few good weapons, and they have the depth too. That’s what the Knights had and that’s what the Kraken have too. I am loving their goaltending too although we will have to see how they perform under this fresh defense. It does look like Kraken are focused more on defense.
Offense will be the biggest issue for the Kraken I expect and a strong reliance on defense won’t be enough.

Vancouver Canucks
Canucks have rang in the changes in the offseason. It’s hard to really assess them based on last year anyway as COVID affected them more than anyone else it seemed.
I just don’t rate the Canucks much at all this season and think it is going to be a long season for Canucks fans. We’ll see how the changes go but one of those teams I need to really prove themselves on the ice before backing.

San Jose Sharks
Man this is a team with quite the fall from grace. Age hit them fast and hard. I can’t see them making the playoffs but with the weaknesses in this division – who knows. Have to wonder too about Evander Kane. If their chemistry is better on ice with him not here at the beginning of the season – probably best he doesn’t come back.
I do feel some players don’t get the credit they deserve on this team such as Tomas Hertl. I like Nick Bonino in there and that should be good for them. I think after this season, we see a complete tear down of this team though.

Anaheim Ducks
Ducks over the last few years have been one of those teams that on paper should be doing a lot better than they were. Look back at any advanced metrics previews and it’s shocking seeing how they underperformed.
It’s a shame seeing the fall of John Gibson these last couple of seasons, as he was looking incredible prior to that and could win games on his own.
They do have some draft picks over the last couple of years who are looking solid. But then you also have guys who are not performing at all.
There’s no real clear path to success for the Ducks either right now. Going to be a tough time for Ducks fans.
