5 games yesterday.
It seems only fitting that the top 2 teams in the Atlantic needed OT when the Leafs beat the Lightning 4-3. The Leafs are now at 100 points and the Bolts 97. The Flyers scored 6 times in the 3rd and beat the Rangers 8-5. The Rangers loss clinched a spot for the Devils and they will play the Canes in the 1st round.
The Sharks vs Wild game was crazy. Celebrini scored his first career hat trick, Eriksson-Ek returned and scored 4 goals and the Wild won 8-7 in overtime eliminating Utah and the Canucks.
There is a group of teams in the East that are 8 points back, each with 5 games left to be played; the Wings, the Isles and the Jackets.
10 games tonight and a few good rivalries mixed in.
Blackhawks vs Bruins
Both eliminated so it’s a pass.
Wings vs Panthers
The Wings are 8 points back of the final wild card spot with 5 games left. They are 4-5-1 in last 10.
The Panthers are in 3rd in the Atlantic and 6 points behind the Leafs and 3 back of the Lightning. They are also 4-5-1 in last 10.
Sabres vs Jackets
The Sabres have been eliminated. They kept swinging until the end though as they are 8-2-0 in last 10 and have won their last 5 games.
The Jackets are one of the teams that are in that group where they can’t afford a loss. They are 4-5-1 in last 10 and 23-10-5 at home.
Hurricanes vs Capitals
The Canes can’t climb any higher and can’t drop in the standings. They are 5-5 in last 10 and have lost their last 3 games.
The Caps have clinched the Metro Division so they aren’t moving from their position in the division and can now switch their focus to winning the Presidents Trophy where they are currently 3 points back of the Jets.
Good game here. Canes want a win to gain home ice advantage in the first round and the Caps want a win to get closer to the Presidents Trophy.
Rangers vs Islanders
Both teams are on the outside of the playoffs in the East. They still have a shot but will need to basically win out to have any chance of making it in.
The Rangers are 3-6-1 in last 10 and have dropped their last 3 games and are 18-16-4 on the road.
The Isles are 3-4-3 in last 10 and 19-15-5 at home.
Big rivalry game so should be fun to watch.
Jets vs Stars
The Jets are still in top spot in the league. They have 110 points and are 6-4 in last 10.
The Stars are right behind the Jets in the Central with 106 points and are 7-1-2 in last 10 but are on a 3 game skid.
This should be a great game and a fun one to watch.
Predators vs Utah
The Preds have been eliminated. They are 3-7 in their last 10 and 9-25-5 in the road.
Utah are 6-3-1 in last 10 and are in 11th place in the West and have been eliminated. They have gone 18-15-7 at home.
I have no idea who wins here. Would lean towards Utah who’s at home.
Canucks vs Avalanche
The Canucks are 4-4-2 in last 10 and are in 10th in the West and have been eliminated.
The Avalanche are in 3rd in the Central and 6 points back of the Stars and 7 points ahead of the Blues and Wild.
With the Canucks playoff hopes done they are playing for pride now.
Kraken vs Knights
The Kraken have been eliminated from the postseason. They are 4-5-1 in last 10.
The Knights are in 1st in the Pacific and have a 6 point lead over the Kings. They have gone 7-2-1 in last 10.
Would think the Knights win this one at home but the odds make it a pass for me.
Ducks vs Kings
The Ducks have been eliminated. They are 5-4-1 in last 10.
The Kings are in 2nd in the Pacific. They have gone 7-3-0 in last 10 and 6 points back of the Knights
Kings should win here but even the -1.5 odds are awful.
