We took the night off from tips yesterday with so many players getting traded we figured it was safer to avoid the night. And with the amount of upsets that happened last night it seems like we made the right call.
The Canadiens beat the Maple Leafs 4-2. The Leafs had their 6 game winning streak snapped here and Jack Campbell took his first loss of the year and had his record of an 11 game winning streak to start a season snapped.
The Senators beat the Jets 4-2. They were down by two goals but rallied to tie the game and then win it. With the Leafs losing the Jets could have closed the gap but the Sens did the Leafs a big favor with the win.
It was a close game that was scoreless through the first 2 periods but the Wings beat the Canes 3-1, the Ducks shutout the Sharks 4-0 with Stolarz setting a Ducks franchise record with 46 saves.
The Hawks beat the Jackets 4-3 in overtime and Connolly scored in his first game as a Hawk, Rantanen scored twice when the Avalanche beat the Coyotes 4-2 and the Knights beat the Kings 4-2.
The Capitals traded Vrana, Panik and a 1st and 2nd round pick to the Wings for Mantha and I honestly think the Wings won this trade and shoutout to Stevie Y for making such a move for his Wings.
The Jets brought in Jordie Benn, the Preds got Gudbranson, the Panthers got Sam Bennett, the Habs brought in Gustafsson and the Avs brought Soderberg in for his second go with the Avs.
We have 6 games scheduled. The kids are on “March Break” here in April and it was announced that once the break is over the kids are going back to remote learning. My poor kids have the worst teacher but he makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich. I think they should just call it a year and give the kids an extended summer but I realize it would put them behind.

Caps ml -155 – it’s pricey but feels pretty solid. Caps pretty much own Flyers this season going 3-1-0 so far. Caps locker room have to be pleased with management’s commitment to win by adding Mantha and Raffl. Mantha will be playing with Backstrom and Oshie tonight. Caps are making it look easy and that was before the trades. The Caps are tied for first in the East and are coming off a dominant 8-1 win vs. Boston (I called that one) and have outscored their opponent, 12-4, in the last two games. They are 8-2-1 in their last 11 on home ice and have not lost two in-a-row at home in over two months (Feb. 1 & 7) The Caps own the NHL’s best power play at home, operating at over 30 percent (33.3). Nothing about the Flyers inspires me with confidence. They traded off Raffl and Gustafsson signaling they are not confident about playoff chances. However, teams sometimes respond well when the pressure is off and they can play spoiler, especially after getting beat by the leagues worst team which is why I am tipping ML and not reg. But I don’t see that happening against the Caps who have to like their chance to go deep in the playoffs. Samsonov in net for Caps (he’s leaky) and Elliott in net for Flyers, he gave up 3 and 4 vs Caps this season.
Parlay: Caps ml & San Diego Padres 8-3 (vs Pirates 3-7) Snell 1.86 ERA is on the mound for Pads and he’s been lights out. Pirates countering with Kuhl ERA 6.43.
