What a great start to the playoffs we’ve had. Every game has been thrilling, we’ve had 4 underdogs pick up a victory, and even in the games that the 4 favourites won – every one was close. Blackhawks coming from 3-0 down, Ducks going into the 3rd 2-1 down, and of course that electric Montreal vs Ottawa game.
Tonight is Friday April 17th, and we’ve got 4 Game 2’s on board for you. Montreal aim to take a 2-0 lead to Ontario with a win over the Sens, while the Capitals hope to bounce back against the Islanders. Blackhawks will also hoping for another massive win to set up a potential sweep, while the Flames hope to upset things again.
A lot of great games tonight.
We thoroughly enjoyed the playoff series predictions where we both provided our opinion, with no arguments. The reason for that is come the playoffs our opinions are a lot stronger. During the regular season it’s easy to argue with each other, present a solid case and win the other over – but with the playoffs, most responses are “NUH UH” and “Are you crazy?”. So we’ve decided for the next little while at least to continue that – both providing our own perspective and opinion on each game. Sometimes they’ll be the same, sometimes they’ll be similar and sometimes they’ll be completely different.

Senators vs Canadiens Betting Tips:
Scott: Habs up 1-0. This game should be intense after the way game 1 ended. After Subban two handed Stone, he won’t receive a suspension so he will need to keep his head up for the rest of the series. As I said before I see this series going the Habs way. With the emotions running high for Ottawa it will be interesting to see how they respond. Do they let it get the best of them? Habs Win is my pick for this one at 1.71 odds.
Graeme: A fascinating Game 1. What’s really interesting is 1 goal in the 1st, 0 in the 3rd, but then that high scoring 2nd period to put the game over. It really makes you wonder about the Over/Under for this one. The line is set at 5 and it’s even odds – you can tell the bookies don’t even know. However I think now is a good time to go with the Habs win as well. They did something that practically no other NHL team has did this season – make Hammond look like an ordinary guy. And I’m going to bet against him rebounding from that.
Islanders vs Capitals Betting Tips:
Scott: Game 1 was all Isles. I expect a much better effort from the Caps. They can’t head back to New York down 2-0. I like the Caps to Win and Over 5 goals but unfortunately the odds just aren’t there for either of those. If you line shop at the recommended sportsbooks above, you may be able to get 1.70 odds that will make the Caps a play.
Graeme: Boy were the Caps flat. It’s really an interesting series in the sense that it’s all in the Caps hands; they show up to play, they’ll win. They show up like they did on Wednesday? They’ll lose. And there’s usually no in-between with them. I’m going to take Caps in regulation. 2.05 odds on that(higher if you line shop), as I think 1-0 down, they’ll be properly motivated.
Blackhawks vs Predators Betting Tips:
Scott: After letting in 3 bad goals in the first period and getting pulled, the Hawks are going to go back to Crawford for game 2. Scott Darling was unreal in the first game stopping 42 saves and holding the Preds scoreless for the rest of the game and deserves the start in this one. But Crawford is the better goalie and did win the Jennings this year, along with Carey Price. Can’t let one bad period erase all the good he did for them this year. Call me biased but Blackhawks win is my pick. Crawford will have a great game in this one knowing that one bad goal and Darling is willing and able to come in for him. Blackhawks are the underdogs at 2.00 odds at some books.
Graeme: What a freak game that was between the Predators and the Blackhawks. Just amazing to watch. And you could really see the skill depth between the teams on offense – Predators had 12 more shots but less goals. I personally think the Predators couldn’t handle going in at 3-0 up. It was a dream situation – but it was just too good. Given time to think about it – they probably thought the game was over. I think we’ll see a much better Predators performance tonight, and will take Predators to win. Line shop at the books above and get at least 1.90 on that one.
Flames vs Canucks Betting Tips:
Scott: Goalie battle in game 1 with the Flames winning 2-1. I expect this to be a long series and these teams to trade wins up until game 7. The Canucks can’t afford to go down 2-0 against a team that has the young legs to fly each and every night. I expect there to be more goals in this one as well as the feeling out period is over. I will go with a Canucks Win which you can get at 1.70 or above.
Graeme: What a great result that was for the Calgary Flames. Even more importantly was how evenly matched the two were. It was an incredibly tight game light on penalties too which was nice. I like Canucks to bounce back tonight in professional fashion. I’m flipping back and forth between Canucks 2.20 and Canucks -1.5 at 3.00 odds. I’ll go balls to the walls with this pick though, and go with Canucks -1.5.

The price differences in games can seriously be amazing, and if you are betting with the one sportsbook you are seriously limiting your opportunities for making money.
A lot of them have some cool unique NHL Props too.

Now we really miss ur “somewhere around 3 bets per night” here in Sweden. Its a bit confusing with two opinions=)..
Yeah we might go back to that in later rounds. Just right now we have very contrasting opinions and the demand seems to be opinion/analysis on ALL playoff games.
How do you calculate your win/loss record this way?
We’ll probably just list the ones where we are both on the same side – as that’s how we do it during the regular season anyway. (Any games where we are conflicted such as Blackhawks/Preds as above for example are never written in the tips)
