The Calgary Flames have been eliminated from the NHL playoffs!
That’s two #1 seeds gone, and both showed very brief flashes of dominance then themselves got dominated.
The sportsbooks have put the New York Islanders as the slight favourites, with the Jackets, Avs and Knights right behind them.
It’s going to be an interesting set of playoffs.
The Leafs beat the Bruins with thanks to a goal that could have been waved off due to goalie interference. We’re not going to get involved in that discussion! The only thing we’ll say is that Leafs fans have been complaining about the penalties this series – pretty sure they can’t complain for the rest of the series!
For Saturday, April 20th we’ve got three games and one series can be wrapped up if the Blues beat the Jets. Home ice hasn’t been an advantage this series but the Blues can use it and take the win tonight in a big game.
The Capitals will look to get back on track but the Hurricanes must smell blood. Going to be interesting.
Let’s get to it – only one of us has a play today and it’s Graeme with the Preds -1.5 on a whim:
Stars vs Predators Game 5 Betting Tips:
Graeme: The Stars are coming in with momentum after a massive victory in Game 4 of this series.
Each game was tight going into that then the Stars blew them away.
While the past few games haven’t been indictative of this, I just get the feeling things swap around and the Preds blow the Stars away here. I’ve seen enough playoff series where that happens, and I think the odds are right for a small play on that.

Scott: The first three games of the series were close ones all being decided by a single goal. In the 4th game the Stars went off scoring 4 goals in the first 14 minutes of the 1st period and came away 5-1 winners to even the series.
With the series moving back to Nashville I would expect them to have a bounce back game but after the way the Stars performed in game 4 its anyones guess how this one goes.

Jets vs Blues Game 6 Betting Tips:
Graeme: This series is just way too tough to call right now with the road teams winning. I mean the trend is road teams winning but it’s hard to just purely back that here.
Jets are the one with big issues at home and you have to wonder if that affects them mentally too. Like maybe what’s the point of winning here when they’ll just blow it the next game.
I’ll be rooting for the Jets purely for a big game 7 but I’m not backing them. No bets.
Scott: This series has been a road teams dream. All 5 games have been won by the road team. This is the first time this has happened in 15 years and only the 4th time ever. No best of 7 series has ever had the first 6 games won by the visiting team.
But the Jets face elimination with a loss so they have to do just that and with history saying for them to stay alive they need this to happen and become the first series to accomplish this, I can’t back anything for this game.

Hurricanes vs Capitals Game 5 Betting Tips:
Scott: The Canes have fought back and won the last 2 games by a combined score of 7-1 to even the series and turn it into a best of 3.
The Caps return home hoping to bounce back and gain some momentum in the series but with the way the Canes have played the last two games, I’m not sure who wins here.

Graeme: Damn – was hoping the Hurricanes would be big underdogs here but around 2.25 just isn’t enough for me.
They come in with confidence and momentum but you also get the vibe this is going to be a homer series.
I think the odds are pretty much right for this one. I’ll probably throw some money on the over 5.5 but I can’t advise that. No play.
