Only one tip yesterday but it was a win. The playoffs picture is getting clearer each day. This is always a great point in the season with teams gaining or losing ground which will make or break their playoff chances.
We had the Panthers -1.5 against the Blue Jackets and the Panthers won 4-2. The Lightning beat the Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime. Killorn had a monster game picking up the Gordie Howe hat trick and also had a HUGE hit on Necas. With both teams picking up points in this game and the Canes picking up one in the loss this hurt the Panthers who are still in 2nd in the Central between both teams.
The Predators beat the Hawks 5-2 and the Stars beat the Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout. With the Stars winning and the Hawks losing the Stars moved past the Hawks into 5th place in the Central, 3 points behind the Preds for 4th.
The Wild beat the Coyotes 5-2 and with the win the 3rd place Wild now have 59 points which is 14 more than the 4th place Coyotes.
The Oilers were down 1-0 halfway through the 3rd period but came alive scoring 4 unanswered to beat the Habs 4-1. Carey Price left the game after getting bumped by Chiasson in the 1st period.
The Sens beat the Flames 4-2. With the Canadiens losing this would and should have been a great opportunity for the Flames to gain some ground in the North Divison but are still 6 points behind them for the 4th and final playoff spot in the North Divison.
The final game of the night was the Sharks vs the Knights. The game was won 3-2 in a shootout by the Knights but the main story about this game was Marleau setting the new NHL record with games played. Congrats Patty. The Leafs sent in a message with Matthews and Marner standing by the locker room congratulating Marleau on this accomplishment when in the background Joe Thornton, Marleau’s longtime teamate and friend, is naked wearing only a facemask and flip flops staring at his stick. Funny stuff.
We have 8 games scheduled for today. Most of the games have terrible odds so not much that we liked but found two we will go with.

Rangers vs Islanders
We have had no luck going with overs this season so I’m going to go with an under for this one. I never go with unders as I find it one of the more stressful bets to make but this one the numbers suggest it will.
They have played each other 5 times this season and each game stayed under 5.5. The last 8 games for the Isles has stayed under.
In the league the Rangers are ranked 7th in GAPG with 2.58 and the Isles are ranked 2nd with 2.31.
The Isles are known for their defense and with the results of the games they have played this year I feel like its worth it. If this doesn’t come through then so be it. The numbers suggest that it is a smart play.

Devils vs Penguins
The Devils limp into this game losing their last 6 games and going 1-8-1 over their last 10. The Penguins have gone 6-3-1 over their last 10 games.
The played each other twice earlier this month and both were Penguins wins where they covered the spead.
Over the Pens last 10 regulation wins they have covered the spread in 8 of them including 3 against the Devils. The Devils last 10 losses in regulation they have covered the +1.5 only twice.
This is a big game for the Pens. They are in 3rd in the East Divison with 59 points which is only 1 behind the 2nd place Isles, 3 behind the 1st place Caps but only 3 ahead of the 4th place Bruins. It’s games like this against weaker opponents where the Pens can’t afford to have a shit game.
Penguins -1.5

A live dog barkin: Buffalo! Buffalo and Boston square off tonight for the first of a 3-game series, and it’s a back-to-back for both of them, plus Boston had to travel. Buffalo is 5-3-2 and just beat Pittsburgh last night (actually, that’s no big deal). Buffalo has the least penalty minutes/game in the league, a full minute less than Pittsburgh, and four minutes less/game than Boston, who has the most penalty minutes/game of all teams in the league. Both teams PowerPlays rate at 22% and their Penalty Kills are close enough to equal. Buffalo’s major problem had been letting in goals, but that’s been radically improved in the last 10+ games, and they’re scoring goals. BETTING IT: I’ll spring for the Buffalo reverse Puckline at +1.5, anything incrementally better, and consider the flat out WIN too.
To WIN: Florida, ML and likely PL
1st Period UNDER 1.5: Florida/Columbus
Full game UNDER 6.5: Boston/Buffalo
Lean: full game UNDER 6.5: Leafs/Canucks
I’m not so confident today as in yesterday’s winning call for the Under, when it made clear sense. Tonight? No idea.
Ducks reg
Why Ducks?
