It was a night of interesting NHL action as the Philadelphia Flyers clawed one back against the Washington Capitals. Neuvirth stepped in and ended up playing a blinder as the Flyers won 2-1 to give them some new confidence before heading to Washington for Game 5.

The Florida Panthers tied everything up 2-2 to regain their home ice advantage, and the Dallas Stars got back on track with a big 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild.

Today we’ve got 4 games. The Lightning look to wrap up their series with the Red Wings with a win tonight, while the Penguins hope to take a huge 3-1 lead back to Pittsburgh, and the Ducks are looking to tie up the series. The Blackhawks also take on the Blues.

Let’s get to it:

Red Wings vs Lightning Game 5 Betting Tips:

Graeme: The Red Wings special teams have been a huge issue for them in the playoffs so far as their power play unit can’t seem to have any luck. In the last game the Wings were 0-4 on the PP while Tampa were 3-5. Of course in a series which has eleventy billion power plays that just can’t do. The majority of Wings fans seem to have accepted their fate and believe they are going out tonight. I dunno though I think they have one more in the tank. Over 5 would probably be the smart play but I’ve just got a good feeling about a Wings Win and at the odds, feel I’ve got to take it.

USA: Bet at Bovada.
Everyone Else: 2.40 Odds at Bet365 (Americans: We recommend http://www.bovada.lv.

Scott: The Lightning now hold a 3-1 series lead.  The Lightning fixed their powerplay issues and scored all 3 of their goals last game with the man advantage.  Datsyuk has gone pointless so far in the playoffs and if this is indeed his last action in the NHL then he’s going out very quietly.   The Lightning can end the series tonight which will give them plenty of rest while they wait for the 2nd round.

Penguins vs Rangers Game 4 Betting Tips:

Graeme: Honestly I was all set to take the Penguins today until I looked at the odds. Yeah Murray stepped up big for the Penguins last game and they got a big win in MSG but the odds are enough to make me go with a Rangers win.

Scott: These teams have traded wins and the Penguins are now up 2-1.   The Rangers were out shot 31-17.  The Rangers will need to have a better effort in this one and put some pressure on the rookie Murray. I think they will and I like this one to continue the trend of trading wins

Rangers win

Ducks vs Predators Game 4 Betting Tips:

Graeme: Big, big game tonight for the Anaheim Ducks. I like what I saw from them last time out and I like that to continue. Craig Smith is a bit beaten up which won’t help the Predators and the Ducks just seemed to finally click. Ducks win.

Scott: Frederik Andersen got the start for the Ducks in game 3 and he made 27 saves for the shutout as the Ducks won 3-0.  They obviously gained some momentum and they needed that.  The series is now at 2-1 for Nashville and the Ducks can tie it and regain home ice advantage over the final 3 games with a win tonight.

Ducks Win

Blackhawks vs Blues Game 5 Betting Tips:

Graeme: I feel like I should tip the Blackhawks here based on their pedigree, history, players and the odds. But I just can’t bring myself to do so. No Bet.

Blackhawks vs Blues

Scott:  Well last game was chaotic at the end.  In the heat of the moment Hawks forward Andrew Shaw said some things that clearly he shouldn’t have and has been suspended for 1 game.  The Hawks have lost their cool.  They’re rattled and need to get back to what has made them successful over the past 6 years by being a skilled and disciplined team.  People will say I’m biased, and I am, but I like the Hawks to pull out a win in this game.

Blackhawks win

Canada: 2.12 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.
USA: Bet at Bovada.
Everyone Else: 2.12 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.

Detroit-Tampa OT + Under 5.5
Penguins in regulation + Over 5
Predators in regulation + Over 4.5
Blackhawks ML + Under 5.5
+ Also threw in Caps win in some of my bets for better odds, since i think there’s no way in hell the Flyers beat them at the Verizon center.

I thought about the Detroit game for a good hour today. First instinct was “there’s no way the Wings win this”, then after thinking about it i made a complete 360 and started to like them to win. But in the end, because their relatively low confidence and Tampa’s home form, my conclusion was OT and at that point it’s anyones game. Red Wings just don’t seem to have guys that can make that one big play atm and i don’t trust them in OT. But yeah, i like the Wings to play their best road game in this series. I thought the last 2 games of the regular season carried over a bit in the first 2 games of this series, but they saw they can beat Tampa in game 3 and with the series on the line (+ im sure the guys want Datsyuk to play at least one more game at the Joe) it’s 100% guaranteed they will battle it out. And whenever they’ve played well games have been low scoring, i like that to continue as well (maybe 1-1 or 2-2?)

Im a little bit surprised i went for the Penguins, as i’ve been in the mindset of going for the Rangers in this game before looking into it. But after i did, i just like the Pens to win this. Don’t get me wrong, i fully expect the Rangers to throw more pucks on Murray than the Pens on Lundqvist, but as we’ve seen in the playoffs so far that usually means you’re going to lose. They haven’t scored more than 3 goals at home in 6 straight games. But the Pens love counter-attacking with their speed, and with Malkin their PP is due to have a big night. On top of Pens in regulation, im going with Over 5, as i do think both teams will pot in goals tonight.

Predators didn’t play well in game 3, i guess they got a bit too comfortable with their 2-0 lead and made it a bit too easy on those Ducks. But that was also a wake-up call and after winning those first 2 games they know what it takes to beat the Ducks. If Smith is out someone else will step up as that usually happens in the first game when somebody is out. All in all i just like them to battle really hard and whenever they do that at home they’re a really tough team to beat. It won’t be easy to win tonight though, and i like there to be goals from both sides, so going with Over 4.5 as well.

Hawks have their backs against the wall. And you’d have to think that is what will bring the best out of them. 4-1 sounds just too good to be true for the Blues, and considering everything that has happened in the series, it probably is. Hawks are the underdogs tonight and possibly the worst team the Blues could ever face when you want to deliver that killing blow. I have the Blues winning the series, and if they get it done tonight i’ll be really impressed, but just can’t see it happening. Thought about OT, as there’s no doubt about it that the Blues have the momentum, but even if it does go to OT i like one of Toews, Keith or Kane to step up and bring the series back to Chicago. In a tight game like this i can’t see a whole lot of goals, so going with Under 5.5.

Good luck guys !

Poor Rangers… they are being spanked so hard… this pittsburgh team is impressive… the capitals better watch out they are so freaking fast!!

So mad at Detroit for screwing it up again.. Couldn’t hold on for 1,5 mins after losing the game in the final minutes last time around too..

Oh well. Seeing Datsyuk there shaking hands in a very emotional state makes me sad. Not the way a player of his caliber should go..

Congrats Tampa for being the 1st team to advance !
