Two teams took 2-0 leads yesterday, as the Kings thumpedthe Oilers 6-2, and the Capitals got a tight 3-1 victory over the Habs.
In bigger news, the Dallas Stars stunned the Colorado Avalance by holding them to just 1 goal, and then defeating them in OT – while on the road.
A massive win for the Stars that, and the Avs fans have to be a bit nervous now.
And also a massive win for the Caps, as the NHL declared crosschecking completely legal, and something they won’t penalize as long as you are wearing a Washington jersey.
BTW Canadians – be sure to sign up at TonyBet as they have had the best odds something like 90% of the time so far in the playoffs. They are crushing it.
Lightning vs Panthers Game 2 Betting Tips
Scott: The Panthers looked strong in game 1. The kept the Lightning to 22 shots which was key as they only had 16.
Tkachuk returned after 2 months and looked like he didn’t miss anytime scoring twice and adding an assist.
The Lighting need to win this game as they need to take advantage of home ice. They’ll need to play better defensively as giving up 6 goals on 16 shots isn’t going to work.

Graeme: It was a big and important win for the Panthers. The metrics weren’t even in their favour that much either – like xGF/60 was quite low at 2.52. Lightning need to step up their goaltending for this one. But that’s why the over/under line is only set at 5.5.
I don’t know if a play on Tampa is +EV. Based on the metrics of the last game I’d say it’s close to 50/50. So Tampa at below 2.00 odds doesn’t really represent value fo rme. IS funny how easy it is to be reactive to one game. I’d tipped Tampa to win the series but after Game 1, I’m sitting there thinking “dumbest statement I’ll ever make”.
I’ll go No Bet just to see if Tampa regain my confidence.
Senators vs Leafs Game 3 Betting Tips
Scott: Leafs won game 2 in overtime and it was a great game to watch.
With this in Ottawa I feel that if the Sens are to win a game in this series it has to be here in game 3.
But the Leafs are just riding the momentum and they keep getting points from the players they count on which is always a relief.

Graeme: Leafs are doing in the playoffs what we saw in the regular season; being out shot, out possessed, worse metrics across the board – yet finding ways to win games.
Sens have a ridiculous CF/60 of 72.11 compared to 46.29 over the two games in all situations. Much better FF, xGF is better etc.
As someone who relies a lot on metrics (although I prefer them in the regular season), I think I gotta stick with Ottawa. They have some really good home metrics, and Stolarz has to give it up at some point.

Wild vs Knights Game 3 Betting Tips
Scott: Much like the Panthers game, the Wild only needed 17 shots to score 5 times and pick up the win.
This was the Wilds first win against the Knights this season and playoffs so they will be riding momentum. This was also the Wilds first regulation win since March 27th.
I want to take the Knights here as they have the experience but the Wild just won a huge game so I’m not sure who wins. Plus Eichel and Stone have yet to put up a point in this series. I’d rather watch and see how it plays out.
No Bet
Graeme: Wild got the big win as the Knights tight defense throughout the regular season let them down. Was that a one off or have they figured out how to unlock this defense? They aren’t doing anything special creation wise.
If you’re thinking the Wild have figured out the Knights D, then this is a great time to bet Minnesota as 2.30 odds approx is the best you’re gonna get for the rest of the playoffs. One of those where it might be worth a chance.
I also swore off the Knights on the road during the regular season even if they did end up with a very solid road record. So now they head to Minnesota – that’s interesting.
I’ve went back and forth trying to convince myself to back Minnesota. But it’s not like their offense created a ton more chances or anything – things just more went their way. 2.30 is close to a bet – it’s a dice roll. But I’ll go with No Bet.
Blues vs Jets Game 3 Betting TIps
Scott: Game 2 was much closer than game 1 on the scoresheet.
In game 1 the Jets outshot the Blues 26-17 and won 5-3. In game 2 both teams had 22 shots and it was a 1 goal game with the Jets winning.
Now that they are down 2-0 they have to win here. They are playing the Presidents Trophy winning team and they are on a roll. They need to find a way to get things going their way and fast.
I’d rather eatch this game and see how the Blues do when they are in St. Louis.
No Bet
Graeme: Despite it being a close one, I really wasn’t impressed with the Blues in Game 2. Didn’t think they created good chances, despite the shot count being tied. And against the Jets goaltending, you need to.
I’m actually going to go with Jets win incl OT. I looked at the metrics to see if there was a big difference for the Blues during regular season home vs road and there really isn’t. So based on their lack of creativity – I think they may struggle here. As always, when a team relies on goaltending, it can make it a high variance bet.

Does Stollarz remind you a little tiny bit of Hasek??? Like not completely eh but a little bit of hack and luck in his style,,, helps the guy is a monster of a human and can move the way he does.
