A fun day hockey wise yesterday and I was able to go 4-1 with the tips. I also had the Islanders alas I had the tips up too late to cover that game.
Happy the Highest Scoring Period bet came in on the Wild vs Canucks one. That was one where I just got motivated prior to Game 1 to really look into the period by period numbers, and felt there was strong value in that one. Good to see it came to fruition.
That Andersen over 29.5 saves one was a frustrating one because initially I was looking at Korpisalo over 30.5 saves. The game started based on the script I pictured – that the Leafs would be relentless and fighting for every single puck etc. However I thought they would either score early and get complacent or get frustrated and tire out and the Jackets would take over. Never really happened as the Leafs put in an excellent performance.
Problem with the Leafs is they can’t do that every game. Honestly if they could they would be strong favourites for the cup. However we’ve seen time and time again they just can’t deliver that sort of performance on a regular basis. Will make the next game interesting. Lot of low quality shots by the Leafs in that game and it was their overall team performance and battling for the puck that helped them there – not the offense.

Islanders vs Panthers Game 3 Betting Tips:
The Florida Panthers are on the verge of elimination after losing two games to the New York Islanders.
The Islanders won a tight one 2-1 and another tight won 4-2. I think it’s got to be frustrating for the Panthers as they have a good offense and had two leads yesterday as well that they blew.
I think the Panthers to dig deep offensively here. They have a good offense that hasn’t really been on display too much but they’ve got to realize they can’t keep hold of a lead and just have to keep scoring.
Based on that I am looking for a high scoring game. No real data to back this up looking at B2B performances etc. More just a feeling that the Panthers won’t go down without a fight.

Predators vs Coyotes Game 3 Betting Tips:
Coyotes won the first game 4-3 and then lost the next one 4-2. That was a hell of a fun one yesterday as our Over 5 bet was looking dead in the water. Then it became a push followed by a win in the space of about 9 seconds. That was freaking amazing.
The starting goalie situation will be interesting for this one. No news on Nick Schmaltz but I assume he won’t be playing again today.
This is a tough one to call and based on that the value is probably in taking the Coyotes. Preds are such an iffy team that I always feel like it’s a complete coinflip when they are playing and if you are getting better odds than the flip then take it. However I’ll stick with Over 5 Goals incl OT/SO for this one. This is a total “ah I just have to have a bet” one though – so hard to draw conclusions on how the teams will be feeling etc.

Penguins vs Canadiens Game 3 Betting Tips:
After losing 3-2 to the Habs, the Penguins came back with a tight 3-1 victory. It was a close one as expected.
Going into Game 3, the Habs Kotkaniemi line is actually the best line of the playoffs covering all teams thus far. That also factors in the round robin teams. If only the Tatar line could step up.
Malkin comes in pointless and how about that Pens power play? Non existent right now.
Price is killing it and it’s nice to see and I hope he continues that. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to watch the Habs and feel good about Carey. Murray is also looking good now.
I might be crazy but I feel like the Habs might be able to pull this one. If our top line can just click – and I think they will – that would be an additional force for the Pens. They’re going to have that extended confidence knowing Price is doing the business and that should help. If they can offer up two strong lines it might be too much for the Pens.
However I also feel like it will be a tight game so I am going to go with Habs or Draw which means that as long as the Penguins aren’t winning by the end of 3 periods, it’s a winning bet.
It’s very possible the Habs peaked with that Game 1 win and it’s all downhill from there. However I am just not sold on the Pens, and I see enough good points from the Habs side of things that I feel there is slight value in this line.

Oilers vs Blackhawks Game 3 Betting Tips:
A hell of a series so far, and the line is set at over 6.5 goals.
Blackhawks won 6-4 in Game 1 and the Oilers won 6-3 in Game 2.
I mean is there any reason not to take the over again here? The only reason is like I’ve said before – sometimes the Hawks offense just goes completely awol. No reason for it it it just sometimes happens.
However with an average of 9.5 goals over 2 games, plus the fact that both regular season games went over 6.5 goals, I see absolutely no reason not to bet Over 6.5 Goals incl OT/SO. No real brainwork here just a case of “right here’s my bet is there any reason not to bet it?” and finding nothing. If it ends up being a goalie clinic or an off night for the offense? That’s hockey.
