The Leafs beat the Devils 2-1 in overtime even though the Devils outshot them 39-16. The Oilers beat the Lightning 2-1 in a low scoring game. The Canucks took their 2nd straight loss when the Blues won 4-3 in overtime spoiling the season debut of Demko. MacKinnon and Rantanen both had 5 points when the Avs beat the Pens 6-2.
The Jets got back in the win column with a lopsided 8-1 win against the Bruins. The Flames beat the Preds 4-3 extending their losing skid to 8 games. The Canes beat the Sharks 3-2 thanks to a late goal by Chatfield. The Flyers snapped a 3 game losing skid with a 5-3 win against the Jackets.
Only 2 games today.
Rangers vs Sabres
Both teams are in slumps. They have played once this season and the Sabres won that one 6-1.
The Rangers are 2-8 in last 10 and on a 2 game losing skid. The Sabres are 3-4-3 and have lost 7 in a row. 4 of their last 10 games needed extra time. On the road the Rangers are 7-5-0 and at home the Sabres are 6-8-3.
CF is the same, CA goes to the Sabres, Rangers leading in SF, Sabres SA. Goals for per 60 is the Rangers but the Sabres have them beat in GA, XGF and XGA.
I came into this thinking it would be an easy Rangers pick but I’m not so sure now.
The over/under is 6 and I’m starting to think that may be the play. Rangers averaging 3.19 GPG the Sabres 3.00. Shesterkin hasn’t been putting up his usual strong numbers this season and Luukkonen has allowed 5, 3 and 5 goals in his last 3 games. These teams want to turn things around so they both could view this as the game they do just that.

Ducks vs Senators
Another game with 2 slumping teams.
The Ducks are 4-4-2 in last 10 and on 3 game losing skid. Sens are 4-5-1. On the road the Ducks are 5-3-3 and at home the Sens are 8-6-1.
The Sens have a slight advantage is most of the metrics but not as big as I would like it to be when we would have to take the Sens -1.5 to get to our minimum and that’s a bit to risky for me. I’m passing.
Ottawa Brady Tkachuk +130
3 games without a goal which matches his season high. Had two goals on 12 shots vs the Ducks December 1st, which was also the last time he scored. Should look to replicate those results at home.
Rangers Chris Kreider to score +200
Also considered Panarin and Lafreniere as possibilities. So not sure if I landed on the correct choice here.
