For the 3rd time this season a team has been forced to postpone games due to a Covid outbreak.
The Flames have postponed at least their next 3 games as 6 players and 1 staff member entered the Covid protocol.
So there wasn’t any games yesterday as the Flames and Hawks game was called off. For today we have 13 games. There was to be 14 but the Flames are stopped for at least 2 more
Afternoon Update: There have been what seems a billion COVID cases since we posted tips this morning. So be sure to go through all the reports with a fine toothcomb prior to games starting. We’ll have to figure out something if this continues.
Devils vs Flyers Betting Tips:
The Devils have been struggling going 2-6-2 over their last 10 dropping their last 2. The Flyers have won 2 straight after losing 10 in a row before that.
The Devils are without Bernier, Graves Hischier and more for this game. With the Flyers at home and trying to fix the damage they took from a 10 game losing streak, I like their chances to extend their win streak to 3 games here
Flyers win incl OT/SO

Jackets vs Canucks Betting Tips:
The Canucks have been on fire since Bruce Boudreau came in as head coach. They have won 4 in a row
The Jackets have gone 4-5-1 over last 10 and are on the road where they have gone 5-8.
With the Canucks carrying the momentum and playing at home I like their chances in this game.
But to take Canucks it would need to be in regulation and over the Canucks 4 game win streak 2 have needed extra time and the Jackets last 2 games did too. So I reluctantly have to skip this game.
Senators vs Panthers Betting Tips:
The Sens have been playing fairly well. They have gone 4-2 in the month of December.
But the Panthers are a machine. They took the loss in the last game and it was a heated one so they should be looking to get back in the win column.
The Panthers are at home and they have been a force in Florida going 14-1-0.
Panthers -1.5

Rangers vs Avalanche Betting Tips:
The Avalanche have won 4 in a row. They have beat some strong teams over this stretch including the Panthers and tonight’s opponent the Rangers.
The Rangers lost to the Avs 7-3 in New York 6 days ago. I know the Avs are without Landeskog and possibly Kadri but this team is stacked and they have plenty of players willing and able to pick up the slack.
Avalanche in regulation

Leafs vs Oilers Betting Tips:
I like the Leafs to win here. The Oilers have dropped 5 in a row.
But the odds for a Leafs win are low and its hard to bet against McDavid and Draisaitl because despite their teams record they still continue to put up points.
If the odds for a Leafs win were around 1.90 I’d be all over it but it’s around 1.76 and that’s not worth it.
Canadiens vs Penguins Betting Tips:
The Habs have lost 6 straight and the Pens have won 4 in a row.
To get any value on the Penguins here we would need to take them -1.5 and that has me worried so I’ll skip this game.
Knights vs Bruins Betting Tips:
Should be a good game here. Pacioretty has scored at least 1 goal in 6 straight games.
The Bruins have won their last 2 games and are at home here. But the Knights have been scoring goals a lot lately so I have no idea who wins this game.
Kings vs Lightning Betting Tips:
The Lightning are heavy favorites for this one.
The Kings have gone 4-4-2 in the road, the Lightning 8-3-2 at home.
I like the Lightning to win here but the odds make it unplayable.
Islanders vs Red Wings Betting Tips:
It’s tough to bet on a game involving the Isles. They are 2-1 over their last 3 but had lost 11 in a row before. The Wings have lost 3 straight.
Canes vs Wild Betting Tips:
Another game where it should be a good one. These teams have similar records, the Canes are 19-7-1, the Wild 19-8-1.
On the road the Canes are 12-4-1, at home the Wild are 10-2-0.
Tough to call a winner here. Was leaning towards a Wild win as they have gone 8-2 over their last 10 games but not enough confidence in that to make it a tip.
Sabres vs Jets Betting Tips:
Jets big favourites here with the Sabres losing their last 7 games.
To make matters worse for the Sabres the Jets are at home where they have gone 9-4-1. The Sabres are a bad road team going 2-7-2.
Another game where the odds make it unplayable.
Blues vs Stars Betting Tips:
The Blues are without Binnington who has been on the Covid protocol list. The Stars have lost 3 straight.
I have no confidence in either team here so it’s an easy pass for me.
Kraken vs Sharks Betting Tips:
The Kraken have lost 3 in a row, the Sharks won their last game.
The Kraken have 3 players in the Covid protocol, the Sharks are missing something couple key players due to injuries.
To many missing players in this game so I’ll skip it.
I have some inclinations for today’s games but will wait until just before game times to decide, considering how COVID news has been hitting teams today. Best of luck everyone.
Yeah good call WR, same for me.
Oh btw, Spencer Knight gets the start for the Panthers, do you still advise the -1.5? For me personally I think he’s still fine, but I’m waiting to see who is in net for the Sens tonight, as it actually makes a legit difference now. Gustavsson is still quite horrible, but Forsberg has become pretty good over his last 4 starts, winning all of them. If he gets the call I’m gonna avoid that one.
I like the Lightning and Canucks in regulation tonight, if Vasy and Demko are confirmed. Both very solid at home at the moment with top notch goaltending and winning their last 4 home games. Blue Jackets still very poor on the road, especially Elvis (confirmed). I liked Dallas in regulation at first too, since they are now back home, but Hintz and Radulov are out, so I’ll rather skip that one.
Enjoy the games and good luck everyone!

“Oh btw, Spencer Knight gets the start for the Panthers, do you still advise the -1.5? “
Is it too late to say no? 😉
Haha, yeah don’t worry about it. I’m glad I skipped it. That was crazy! 😅
