The NHL Christmas Break is over with and we’re back with a bang this Boxing Day with a lot of games on the board.

There’s 13 games and all take place at night. The Penguins look to make it four in a row as they host the Red Wings. Preds and Oilers look to end their 4 game and 3 game skids respectively as they host the Stars and Canucks. The Wild and Flames are also on 4 game and 3 game losing streaks and look to end those.

Sharks and Ducks as well – man, a lot of good teams with little losing streaks going on hoping to end it. Have to wonder if they are going to come out fired after the Christmas break or not.

Today is quite a crappy day betting odds wise with so many of these teams heavily favoured to bust their losing streaks or just games with heavily favoured teams but let’s see what we got:

Hurricanes vs Capitals Betting Tips:

The Hurricanes got a victory over the Bruins whih was good to see and Aho is playing well but they still need to show more consistency.

McElhinney I am seeing is projected to be in net and he had a good run of course in November but he had a bad game back with the Penguins getting three past him. He might still be shaking off the rust.

It’s possible he will turn things around for the team for sure but I think that game would take away his aura somewhat.

Capitals can be the Capitals and not show up as we have seen recently. They should have enough to take the Canes but we’ll go with 0.5u on Capitals to win in regulation just in case ol Curtis shows up or the Caps don’t – two very possible factors.

Bruins vs Devils Betting Tips:

The system I uses as a base really loves the Bruins to win today and looking at things I have to agree with it.

They’re coming off a loss and although they aren’t a bounce back team you do feel this could be a real turning point for the Bruins. Players coming back from injury and entering 2019 – they must be thinking of strong performances to get the playoff race going.

Bruins had goalie issues again in their last game out and hopefully that means Halak steps up tonight. I’ve got to assume he’ll play but either way I’ll stick with the same bet. Rask might have a point to prove if he plays.

1u on Bruins in Regulation

Oilers vs Canucks Betting Tips:

This is one where you look at it and think – the Oilers HAVE to win this one.

They’re on a three game skid and have had time off to think things out. They’re playing at home and on a revenge game against the Canucks. They’re playing the Canucks….who to their credit have quite the excellent record in December so I am not underrestimating them.

I just think we have to see maximum effort from the Oilers tonight. Unfortunately we have been in spots with the Oilers like this before and they don’t bring that effort so we’ll go with just a small play. 0.5u on Oilers in regulation if Koskinen is in net.
