Only 3 games yesterday and we won our tip.
I had the Panthers to win in regulation against the struggling Rangers. This was a close game that was tied after Kreider scored at 5:20 in the 3rd but the Panthers came out on top 5-3.
Vilardi scored 2 power play goals within 1:02 in the 3rd and the Jets won 3-0 against the Predators. The Kraken beat Utah 5-2 thanks to 3 goals in the 3rd by Seattle.
It’s the last day of the year so we have games starting early and often and we also have the Winter Classic. I’ll keep these quick as I have some stuff planned while my kids are still off of school.
Bruins vs Capitals
Bruins 6-3-1 in last 10 and are sitting in 3rd in the Atlantic. On the road they have gone 8-8-2.
The Caps got Ovechkin back which is a huge boost to them. They are 6-4 in last 10 and have won their last 3 home games. Overall at home they have gone 11-4-2.
These teams played a week ago and the Bruins won that one 4-1. I want to take the home team Caps but the Bruins have won 6 of the last 4 against Washington so I’m staying away.
Islanders vs Leafs
These two played last week and the Isles won 6-3.
The Isles are 7-8-5 on the road and 5-5 in last 10. The Leafs are 6-4 last 10 and 14-7-0 at home.
With the Leafs home and overall record I wanted to take them but the Isles have won the last 5 games against the Maple Leafs going back to March of 2023. They seem to have their number.
Canadiens vs Knights
This is the 2nd meeting of these teams with the Knights winning the first one 6-2.
The Canadiens are on a 2 game win streak, are 6-4 in last 10 and 6-10-1 on the road.
The Knights are playing awesome right now. They’re 9-1 in last 10 and on a 6 game won streak. At home they have gone 15-3-0.
I would need to go with the Knights -1.5 but the data doesn’t support that enough.
Blues vs Blackhawks
This is the Winter Classic and it’s being played at Wrigley Field which is pretty awesome.
This game will look amazing as the outdoor games always do but I cant tip a game that’s played outdoors.
Flyers vs Sharks
Flyers are 4-6 in last 10 and 8-8-3 on the road. They are scoring less than they allow which is a recipe for disaster.
Sharks have lost 7 in a row so not touching them at all.
Jets vs Avalanche
Jets just played yesterday.
The Avalanche have won 4 in a row and are 8-2 last 10. One thing that’s not a positive is the Avs home record which is 9-8-0.
Big game in the standings too as the Jets are in 1st and the Avs 3rd in the Central.
The Jets need to extend their lead over the rest of the Central and the Avalanche can close the gap. This game could go either way.
Hurricanes vs Jackets
I would think that this would be an game the Hurricanes should win.
But then I look at their away record of 8-9-1 and the Jackets home record of 11-4-3 and I’m staying far away from this one.
Devils vs Ducks
The Devils have been playing well all season. They are top 10 in GPG and top 3 in GAPG. On the road they are 12-6-0.
Ducks are 7-11-1 at home and ranked 31st in GPG and 18th in GAPG. They are allowing a half a goal per game more than they score.
Sabres vs Stars
The Sabres have won 3 games in a row but they need to win many more as that losing skid they finally ended did plenty of damage.
The Stars are 5-4-1 in last 10 and 13-5-1 at home. They are in 4th in the Central but have lots of ground to gain on the Jets.
I would say the Stars should win at home but the Sabres are trying to dig themselves out of the hole they are in.
The Stars have better numbers in CF, CA, SF, SA, GA and both XG numbers. I think that’s enough to make it a play.

Penguins vs Wings
Yeah I’m fine skipping this game.
Predators vs Wild
Predators played yesterday and lost.
The Wild are 4-6 in last 10 and 9-8-1 at home.
With the Preds playing yesterday and not far from that terrible losing skid they had and their road record of 3-12-4 I’m leaning towards a Wild win. But this is another where the data doesn’t support it as I would need to take Wild in regulation.
Utah vs Oilers
Utah has lost 3 in a row and the Oilers have dropped their last 2.
These teams are playing where they are strongest with Utah going 11-6-2 on the road vs 5-7-4 at home. The Oilers have gone 12-7-1 at home and 9-5-2 on the road.
I find it tough to predict a winner. I would lean towards an Oilers win but it would need to be -1.5 which is tough to do when we look at Utah’s road record.
Canucks vs Flames
Both teams playing like shit right now.
The Canucks are 3-3-4 in last 10 and the Flames are 4-3-3.
With both teams in a bit of a slump it’s an easy pass for me as it could go either way.
The Bruins are so good they won 6 of the last 4 against Washington xD
