A very high scoring night of hockey last night. But the big news of the night was in the Ottawa Senators game. Not only did they lose the game 4-2 they lost the defending Norris trophy winner and their best player Erik Karlsson. In what some may consider a hit from behind by Matt Cooke, Cooke also had his left skate up and when he came down his foot landed on the back of Karlssons leg, cut his leg and ended Karlssons season. With Karlssson joining Spezza and others who won’t be back for the rest of the season things aren’t looking good for the Sens.
A half dozen games on the schedule for tonight including a few that stand out: The Islanders take on the Rangers, the Leafs are at the Hurricanes and the Capitals look to grab another win when they face off against the Lightning.

This game features a bunch of talented players on two teams who can score and do it often. Both teams had yesterday off. The Lightning need this to snap the 5 game losing skid they are on and the Caps need this to extend their winning streak to 3 games.

Maple Leafs vs Hurricanes: Leafs to Win
Right now 888 Sports has the odds for a Leafs win at +135. The Leafs, who have played one more game then the Hurricanes, have more points then them so far this season and are also coming into this game riding a 4 game win streak.

Both of these teams are in need of wins and badly. Minnesota went out and acquired the two most coveted free agents that were available and really need to start winning or those moves may turn out to be the most costly mistake in Wild history. The Avs are doing just terrible this season and although they are loaded with young talent, they just can’t seem to get themselves out of the basement.
