It was another winning night last night thanks to the Coyotes. We went 2-2 with a risky bet on the high value Coyotes and it paid off as they beat the Kings 5-3.
Boy was that a nerve wracking game though. The Kings controlled so much of the game and the Coyotes are just terrible. Mike Smith stepped up big to stop the Kings from coming back and winning.
Rangers/Islanders went over right at the death which was nice, and we had a big disappointment from the Penguins who blew a 2-0 lead and couldn’t win in regulation. Very frustrating. The Stars got the shots on net but it wasn’t enough to beat Kuemper.
It’s a much quieter evening tonight with just 3 games. The Hurricanes return from a bye week to host the Colorado Avalanche. The Penguins hope to carry their momentum from that overtime victory over the Jets as they visit Columbus. And the Panthers and Ducks also play.
No Tips Today in the NHL. Instead I’ll quickly analyze each game:
Hurricanes vs Avalanche: Same rules as last nights Coyotes bet apply for the Avs today with the Hurricanes returning from a bye week. Hell you can get them at 3.30 at some places. Yet unlike yesterday I just can’t pull the trigger and advise the Avs bet. I’ll be betting on it for sure but man I’ve spent about an hour here trying to convince myself to be able to advise you guys to take the Avs and I just can’t do it. Bye week stats be damned – Avalanche winning here would be a massive upset and I can’t get behind it.
Penguins vs Jackets: The bookies except a high scoring game here and the line is at 6. I’m wondering how Pens will be with Crosby now getting the 1,000th point. I haven’t been super impressed with their play lately and I wonder if that affected it and how they’ll come out. They’re taking this game seriously it sounds like but Torts has shown his ability to shut down teams. No tip – I’ll probably bet the Over purely from an entertainment standpoint.
Ducks vs Panthers: I’ve been debating this one all morning and was close to tipping the Over 5 – very close. A large reason for that is the Panthers and their ability to battle at the moment. They’re still eyeing the playoffs and I think they can keep it close. However we’ve got two of the bottom 10 offenses here and the Ducks are very tight at home defensively.

No tips or bets besides maybe the over 5.0. I am happy with winning my losses back and taking a small profit and will be taking a step back for a bit.
Pens-Jackets over 5
small bet Panthers ML
normally I would bet against the team which is coming off a break, but Colorado is playing so bad that I just cant bet on them.
All three games can go either way, so there are some nice value bets. As you said though, you can’t back the Avs. It is quite a pain to pass up that odd, but I feel like that would be me pouring money down the drain. I hope your bet comes through.
As for the over on the Pens: I’ve tried a little experiencing with higher overs in the last few days, and for my surprise, the highest scoring games were the ones with the higher odd for the over. So, based purely on that logic, I’d bet the Ducks game to be the highest scoring one. This of course is not backed by any stats, and I do not advise anyone taking it, but I will do a bit more research on that, because I think I can figure it out.
Jackets-Pens:
Offense: 5th vs 1st
PP: 3rd vs 5th
Defense: 4th vs 14th
PK: 12nd vs 23rd
Two high scoring teams with solid PP units and not so great PK. Goalies are yet to be confirmed.
Pens’ games totals (average) at home: 6.53/game
Jackets’ games totals (average) on the road: 5.88/game
Both teams have higher scoring games in this situation, than the otherway around.
I can see some roughing right from the beginning, so it is possible that we’ll see many PP chances. This game is almost the textbook example of what you expect to be a high scoring one, but I had some just like that and all failed to cover the total so far, so I might pass on this one.
I am talking about 7.5+ or higher overs. Of course I can bet the usual lines, but I like to experience a little bit with lower stakes.
The best I can get is 4.80 for 8.5o in reg., but it just not high enough in my opinion. I can see this one go 5:3/ 5:2 either way for example with an empty netter, but 4-5/5-5? Or a blowout like 7-2? Very unlikely.
I didn’t want to write this much, just wrote down my thoughts. I will most likely watch the action without any plays. Good luck to you all!
Isn’t Blue Jackets the home team in this one?
Ye, I just realized it. It’s been a long week I guess 🙂
Lots of great hockey games that’s for sure. But you still back the over right? I fully back your other stats and the scenario with quite a few penalties. And with Schultz and Maatta out, the pens defense should be leaky.
I didn’t play anything but I was right with the Ducks game being the highest scoring. That could have gone to 8+, but the goalies, especially Reimer denied excelent chances.
Great tip last night with Coyotes!!
Make some good money with single bet on Coyotes in reg. @ 4.33.
Tonight try one combo with all 3 home teams in regular time.
good job! keep doing that
Tonight picks,
Panthers win %100
Jackets win %90
Good luck
Jackets ML
Ducks ML
So back and forth on the Pens/Jackets! Please give me a reason to bet Jackets and I will hand you the ….. BROOM!
7-3 at home vs Metro, the Pens are 5-4 on the road.
Lol I just saw this. Sorry I didn’t answer sooner. Arto ??Spelled it out pretty well. Similar thoughts and stats. I figured Crosby would have a letdown after his big night getting his 1,000 point. Maybe they went out and celebrated too much? Then they’re thin at the blue line with injuries.
2-1 yesterday with the picks
Only one for tonight
Ducks ML
Thoughts?
GLTA!
Bye week glitch Avs ML
Panthers ML
Going back to the water well with games listed at 6 or 6.5 play 1st period over.
Pittsburgh Penguins/Columbus Blue Jackets – total Over 1½ (-130) 1st period
last 2 times they’ve played the 1st period has had 2 goals and with Pens D getting banged up last night I believe it will be another 2 in the first in this 1.
Jackets ML
Panthers ML
Avalanche ML
Under 6.5 Pens/Jackets, Under 5.5 Avs/Canes Ducks reg
4 out of 6 last night. February has been good to me so far. I hope to continue the form tonight.
Pens-Blue Jackets O6.5 (and a smaller bet on O7,5)
Avs ML
Panthers ML
The Pens have had 5 tail end of back to backs on the road this season – lost them all. Blue Jackets will have a ton of incentive to play the Pens again. I think we might see a similar game to last night’s Islanders-Rangers, where the Rangers seemed like a solid pick but were outworked out there.
I also like the Panthers a lot tonight, just hoping Gibson doesn’t have another monster game.
GL !
