Only 3 games yesterday and I didn’t have a tip.
The Isles beat the Jets in a low scoring game 2-1. The 2 points gave the Isles a little more comfort in the East standings where they have 67 points.
The Hawks were down 3-0 but they came back to win 4-3. Kane continued to impress scoring 2 and adding an assist and has 10 points over his last 4 games.
The Flames came from behind to beat the Coyotes 6-3 scoring 5 unanswered. They outshot the Coyotes 51-14. The win gave them 65 points which is 2 back of the Wild.
A busy night for us with 10 games.
Oilers vs Penguins
The Oilers are in the 1st wild card spot but could jump into 2nd place in the Pacific with a win here and a Kings and Kraken loss.
The Penguins are in 9th in the East but a win would have them back in the playoff picture.
They played once this season back in October and the Oilers won 6-3.
With the points from this game meaning so much to both teams this should be a fun watch. The odds are a coin flip so I’m going to just watch it instead.
Ducks vs Capitals
The Ducks have lost 6 in a row and the Caps 5.
The Caps are in 11th and 2 points back of the Panthers, the Ducks are 26 points back of the wild card so they have nothing to lose at this point.
With both teams struggling it is tough to call a winner. The Caps should win here as Ovechkin is back. But I would have to take them -1.5 which I can’t do with them on a 5 game losing skid.
Sabres vs Lightning
The Sabres are 4 points back of the Panthers for 8th spot in the East but the Sabres have 5 games in hand. They need to take advantage of these extra games and get themselves back in.
The Lightning are in 3rd in the Atlantic and will still be there if they win or lose this game. They have gone 6-2-2 over last 10.
This has the potential to be a high scoring game. The Sabres are ranked 3rd in GPG with 3.69 and the Lightning 4th with 3.55. In GAPG the Sabres are 25th and the Lightning 12th. They played twice this season back in November and the Lightning won both and both went over with the first hitting 8 an the next 11 in overtime.
The Lightning have scored 10 goals over their last 2 games and the Sabres 14 over last 3.

Kings vs Devils
Big game here.
The Kings can move into a tie for lead in the Pacific if the Knights lose but if they lose and the Kraken and Oilers win then they will be in 7th.
The Devils are in 2nd in the Metro and only 5 points behind the Canes who lead the divison.
Over the last 10 the Kings have gone 7-2-1 and on the road they have gone 15-10-5. The Devils have gone 6-3-1 and 16-11-2 at home.
The Devils scored more goals, take more shots, allow less goals and shots per game. The Kings have the better powerplay and win more faceoffs.
This is a game where it should be a Devils win but with the way they Kings have been playing I’m skipping.
Wild vs Jackets
The Wild have won their last 3 games and are in the 2nd wild card spot. They have the same amount of points as the 3rd place Avalanche do but have played 2 more games.
The Jackets are tied for last place in the league with the Ducks but have played one more game than them. They are 23 points out of the playoffs.
The Wild need this win with the Flames within 2 points of them.
Wild win in regulation

Rangers vs Wings
The Rangers have gone 7-1-2 over last 10 and are in 3rd in the Metro. Win or lose here they will still be there tomorrow.
The Wings have gone 7-3 over their last 10 and are in 10th place in the East which is only 2 points behind the Panthers who are in 8th.
Both teams are playing well so it’s tough to call
Canucks vs Blues
Both teams are a mess right now.
The Canucks are 3-5-2 over last 10 and 18 points out of the playoffs. The Blues have lost 3 straight, are 3-7 over last 10 and 12 points out.
It seems like both teams have realized that this season is a loss. I have no idea who wins here.
Flames vs Knights
The Flames have gone 4-4-2 over last 10 which isn’t helping them climb back into the playoff picture. They have 65 points in 58 games and the Wild, who are 8th, have 67 in 57.
The Knights are in 1st in the Pacific but have only a 2 point lead over the Kings and a 3 point lead over the Kraken. They need to go on a win streak to give themselves some distance in the standings. But the Flames are desperate for points and had a big comeback win last night.
Bruins vs Kraken
The Bruins are in 1st place in the Atlantic and the League and unless something changes for them they aren’t going anywhere. The Bruins record of 43-8-5 gives them 91 points in 56 games which ties them with the 1979-80 Flyers for the fastest team to hit 90 points.
The Kraken are in 3rd in the Pacific and a win would move them into 2nd. But if the lose and the Oilers win they would be in the wild card.
Should be a good game here. As I have said before, anytime the Bruins are playing you really have to at least consider taking them.
Would have to take the Bruins in regulation but after the Kraken beat them 3-0 last month I feel better skipping. I have no luck taking the Bruins to win in regulation on the road which is another reason why I’m skipping.
Predators vs Sharks
The Preds have a losing record on the road but that shouldn’t affect them too much as the Sharks have a terrible home record of 6-14-7.
The Preds are 7 points behind the Avalanche who are in 3rd in the Central and also 7 back of the wild card. The Sharks are 20 points back of the wild card and although mathematically possible they are basically eliminated from the postseason.
If the Preds want to take a shot at the postseason they need to win this game. I’m putting faith in the Preds here which is a rare thing so let’s see how they do.

min boldy +205
was between him and eriksson ek at +175
Boldy gets to face Columbus tonight so chances should be there. I like the way he’s played recently just hasn’t cashed the opportunities he’s gotten.
tampa bay hedman +390
thought about hagel +160. Him or Point at -110 probably better chance to score. The way Buffalo can concede goals at times I’m choosing the higher odds on Hedman. And will look to use one of them in upcoming games if they don’t cash in tonight.
Full game OVER 6.0: Lightning, Oilers, Sabres games
To WIN Puckline: Bruins
Lean: Canucks and Flames to win
Seattle just not anywhere near a good peak right now, and the Bruins are a freight train.
The Oilers/Pens matchup has recently been a shootout between the old and new claim of greatest player in the league, and the Pens suffer the comparison, as a team on a long-term fade. Oilers have both the ability and sense of mission to take it to the cleaners. I presume the Pens can score a couple.
St. Louis fell flat at their last trade and can’t score, while the Canucks have been finding the net at a good clip (regardless if they win or not).
If Markstrom is in net for the Flames, they have a challenge. However, Flames should smell lots of their own goals, as the Knights top two goalies are out injured, and #3 is apparently made of Swiss cheese. That will have the Vegas players protecting their own goalie, which makes offense tougher to get going. Expect the Flames to pour on the offense for 60 minutes with that in mind. Flames have also been getting better at staying out of the penalty box, and Vegas has a total of 1 powerplay goal in their last 10 games combined. Flames are always very good at 5-on-5 and on penalty kill. So they have every reason to be fearless tonight.
