A good day of action yesterday.
The Predators won their 4th straight when they beat the Blues 4-0. The Sabres beat the Bruins 4-1 and Rick Nash made his debut for Boston. He played well with a team leading 5 shots and over 17 minutes of ice time.
The Oilers had a late game break down when Rickard Rakell scored twice with less than one minute left to send this game to OT. This game needed a shootout but the Oilers came away 6-5 winners against the Ducks.
The Maple Leafs acquired Tomas Plekanec from the Canadiens for a 2nd round draft pick. Its strange to see two rivals make a trade like this but the Leafs have added a strong center
Today is the trade deadline. As it is every year, there are plenty of rumors going around about who will get moved. Most times these are only rumors but you never know what can happen. As a Hawks fan I’m hoping they go into full on sellers mode and look towards improving for next season.
Flyers vs Canadiens Betting Tips:
The Flyers have won 5 in a row and are now only 1 point behind the Capitals for 1st place in the Metro Division.
The Habs have started moving some pieces. Plekanec has been on the Canadiens for his entire career and although he was never a major point getter he was valuable for to his team for his leadership and faceoff ability.
Hard to bet against the Flyers right now and with the Habs doing what they are I’m taking Philly in this one.

Maple Leafs vs Lightning Betting Tips:
The Leafs have been playing some great hockey and are now only 4 points back of the Lightning for 1st place in the Atlantic Division. They have gone 13-2 over their last 15 games. They are making some additions to their roster and have caught fire at a great time of the season.
The Lightning are on a 3 game win streak. Stamkos is one assist away from setting a new career high with 47.
Both teams are coming off of high scoring games. The Leafs last two were a 4-3 win against the Bruins and a 4-3 shootout win against the Isles. The Lightnings last two were a 4-3 shootout win against the Canadiens and a 4-3 win against the Senators.
I see that trend continuing in this game.

Unit/Confidence Betting Tips:
Flyers Win – 1u
Leafs vs Lightning – over 6 – 1u
Caps vs Jackets – Caps Win – .5u
The Caps are underdogs in this one. Over the last 10 meetings against the Blue Jackets they are 8-1-1. Going to back them for a half unit in this one.
(We are experimenting with adding unit/confidence to our betting tips. For more details see this post.)
