No tips yesterday.
The Leafs were down twice in their game against the Hurricanes but kept it close to force OT where they won it 4-3. Matthews and Marner both scored twice. Marner has scored in 8 straight games.
The Senators beat the Devils 4-1. The Devils scored 1st but the Sens scored the next 4 unanswered for the win.
7 games today.
Jackets vs Capitals Betting Tips:
The Caps are 5-7-2 over their last 14 games and 2-5-1 at home over last 8 in Washington. Ovechkin may return for this game after he entered the Covid protocol last Wednesday.
These teams have played twice this season with the Caps winning both.
The Jackets can’t stop allowing goals. They are tied for 30th place in GAPG with 3.67. They have lost 5 of their last 8 games and during this stretch they have averaged 4.60 goals against.
With both teams struggling its an easy skip for me here.
Penguins vs Bruins Betting Tips:
The Pens have lost 4 in a row but are 6-1-3 over last 10. The Bruins won their last game and are 6-3-1 over their last 10.
On the road the Pens are 14-5-3, at home the Bruins are 15-8-1. The Bruins are 8-3-0 at home over their last 11 in Boston.
Another tough game to call. Malkin is out with Covid but he has only played 12 games this season and the Bruins have been good at home all season. Would lean towards a Bruins win with the Pens losing their last 4 but they have had a week off so they have had time to rest and get their minds back on track.
Hurricanes vs Senators Betting Tips:
Last night the Canes lost to the Leafs and the Sens beat the Devils.
The Canes are the favorites here and for good reason. They are in 1st in the Metro, 3nd in the East and 4th overall.
They have played twice this season with the Sens winning the 1st game 3-2 and the Canes winning the last 3-2 in a shootout.
I like the Canes to win but to get any value it would need to be -1.5 and as we can see from the recent results between these teams I can’t take them.
Devils vs Canadiens Betting Tips:
Ugh.
This game has nothing that I like. They haven’t played each other in over 2 years so can’t look to those for reference.
The Devils have lost 7 in a row and the Habs have dropped their last 6. Easy skip for me.
Wild vs Jets Betting Tips:
The Wild are playing great of late winning their last 6 games. The Jets lost their last game and are 2-6-2 over their last 10 games.
The Wild have won both games played against the Jets this season including the last one where they beat the Jets 7-1.
The Jets have 10 players out including Dubois, Pionk, Ehlers and Stanley.
The Jets at home have gone 10-8-1, the Jets on the road have gone 14-7-2.
All signs and numbers point to a Wild win and I’m fine with taking them to do so in regulation
Wild win in regulation

Knights vs Oilers Betting Tips:
The Knights have won their last 2 games and good news for them is Eichel is getting close to returning.
The Oilers are starting Mike Smith in this game with Koskinen out. Smitty has played in only 6 games this season winning his first 2 then being out for 2 months to come back and lose his next 3. His return could help or hurt the Oilers.
It’s tough to call this game. The Oilers are at home and the team may rally around Smith returing. They are still out of the playoff picture but are only 3 points behind the Flames.
The Knights are in 1st in the Pacific but have only a 2 point lead over the 2nd and 3rd place teams the Kings and Ducks.
Would lean towards a Knights win but I can’t make it a tip.
Coyotes vs Canucks Betting Tips:
Another game where a team is heavily favored and the odds make it pretty much unplayable.
They have played each other twice this season with each team winning one.
I like the Canucks to win this game but have no confidence in them to make it a tip. They are without Quinn Hughes who may, or may not, have gone to Vegas to watch his brother Jack play in the all star game and Jack is out with Covid and Quinn is joining him in the protocol.
On the road the Coyotes are 6-14-3 and have gone 3-7-0 over last 10. The Canucks have 8-8-3 at home and 4-3-3 over last 10.
To bet on the Canucks with any value it would need to be -1.5 and I can’t back that.
Thanks Scott. I have a premonition that the dogs will be howling tonight. Coming off the ASG break, teams that have been performing badly will have a bounce in their step, and favorites could be under-estimating their opponent.
Scott, have you and Graeme done any research on favorite vs dog trends after ASG?
To WIN ML: Minnesota
Lean to win: Canucks
Wow, the NHL’s first three days back are looking like no-bet matchups. I’d bet on the Canucks to win except I can’t figure out who’s in their lineup tonight. Canucks have been playing .500 hockey and can take a run at a Wild Card position, so they should see this game as something to win, and play the offense-less Islanders tomorrow, a fast 4 points are available. Habs and Devils will be a yawner, could be 1-0 or 7-6, no idea. The Wild should see tonight’s game as important as a home game, and their schedule is generous, giving them a chance to rocket up through the standings with games in hand; and the Jets are injured and totally lacking in depth or consistency this year. Wild would be smart to win.
Definitely over Pens vs Bruins with more confindence to bet on Pens
Olympics, recommend +1,5 on Swiss against ROC, Russians have almost every big tournament a slow start so even they loss against SUI wont be surprising.
