Whew – very, very glad I didn’t take the Rangers yesterday. The advanced metrics saved my bacon there.
Oilers – man, even with their offense performing they still lose. That’s brutal for them. If you had told me I could get them with 4 goals yesterday I would have been on it.
It’s a busy Saturday with 14 games on the go. Yikes. Forgive me if I blow past some of these.
Hurricanes vs Utah
With Hurricanes latest results, and Utah not bad form lately, the idea of taking Canes -1.5 is lunacy. Metrics don’t back it anyway or even come close. I honestly wouldn’t even take them in regulation.
Red Wings vs Lightning
This is a tough one. Botht eams coming in good form. They have played recently with Wings winning 2-0 on 25th, but Tampa blowing them away on the 18th.
To be honest I was hoping the metrics would lead towards a Wings play but they don’t. More likely based on that Tampa win. Don’t fancy them in regulation on the road after losing here a couple of weeks ago. No play.
Canadiens vs Devils
Neither team one I really want to back. They both played recently too. Quite the easy pass for me. By the metrics it’s a slight lean on the Devils but not enough to take them in regulation on the road.
Bruins vs Knights
Bruins coming off that Rangers loss. Decent dogs here and honestly first thought is I fancy them. Let’s see about the data. Knights much better CF% & FF%. GF% is tied, and xGF% Knights have the lead. Bummer. I was hoping for a Bruins play here but the data is completely against it.
Canucks vs Leafs
To be honest kind of happy to avoid the Leafs as they are an odd streaky team right now. Data doesn’t make it a play anyway.
Blues vs Blackhawks
Eh….no. There’s probably value on the Blackhawks at that price but with the B2B I’d rather not.
Jackets vs Rangers
Metrics point to the Rangers. But the Jackets are a tough team to play against at the moment. These two had a tight one on the 18th with the Rangers at home, and with them being a bit iffy at the moment, happy to pass on them on the road.
Panthers vs Senators
Sens come in on a two game losing streak after a nice point streak. Panthers generally playing well with a couple of blips here and there. Panthers better CF% and FF%. Scoring more, conceding less. Their xGA/60 is a tad iffy but goaltending been helping them a lot.
Sens of course without Norris, and Pinto not sure about. Bob is likely tonight – hopefully that Washington game was a blip for him.

Flyers vs Penguins
I mean based on incoming form, Pens do look like they have value. Better CF% and FF%. Scoging mroe, conceding less. xGA is a bit of a concern much like the Panthers play actually.
I dunno – there is definite value here I think. I just don’t have a ton of confidence in the Pens on the road. They have also played a LOT on the road lately and that has to be wearing on them. I’ll pass, but this is close.
Wild vs Islanders
Nothing here. That Islanders GA/60 & xGA/60 is too much of a variable for me.
Predators vs Sabres
This is one of those random games where the Preds definitely shouldn’t win – and thus, will. On a bad run, back to back against a fresh Sabres team who are crushing it. AND they are underdogs.
Based on the metrics, this is actually an over play which is rare to see these days and nice. Both scoring more than 3, xGF high, xGA 3 and 3.44. Oh yeah this is a straightforward over 6 for me. Just have to hope Preds at home give a big effort despite the B2B.

Eh – Stars aren’t my favourite team to back at the moment. -1.5 based on the metrics is marginal at best.
Flames vs Kraken
Not feeling either team here. It’s close looking at the data. Odds seem about right to me. Won’t be surprised if Kraken get the win but not enough value.
Kings vs Ducks
Ducks metrics are actually slightly better here in spots. But not near enough to back.
