It was a busy night last night and we had 2 tips going 1-1.

The win was the over 6.5 in the Sabres vs Kraken game. It was the Kraken winning 4-3 and thankfully they were able to put that many up as it didn’t look good heading into the 3rd.

The loss was my tip of the Jets to win against the Red Wings. The Wings jumped out to a 3-0 lead and didn’t look back. The Jets didn’t give up but the Wings stayed in front winning 7-5.

The Rangers beat the Wild 4-3 in OT after trailing 2-0 after the 1st, the Stars beat the Isles 2-1 in a shootout, the Devils beat the Canes 5-3 closing the gap on them in the standings, a crazy 1st period in the Canucks vs Pens game that saw the Canucks score the first 3 and the Pens answer with 3 of their own and the Pens won 5-4 and Panthers beat the Avalanche 5-4 thanks to a late goal from Tkachuk.

A slow night again with only 4 games.

Capitals vs Flyers

The Caps are 7-1-2 over last 10 and just got Backstrom and Wilson back. Once those two get up to speed with the rest of the team, the Caps could make a fun for top spot in the Metro where they are currently

The Flyers are coming off of shutting out the highest scoring team in the league. Ersson has been great in his start to his NHL career going 4-0 allowing 3, 2, 1 and a shutout.

I like the Caps to win but it would need to be in regulation. They don’t have the best road record going 10-8-3 and the Flyers have momentum so I have to skip this game.

Predators vs Leafs

The Preds have won their last 4 games and have gone 7-1-2 over last 10. They have beat the Sens, Habs, Canes and Caps on this streak.

The Leafs have won their last 2 games and are 2-1-1 in the month January.

Saros can win a game by himself so he’s just another reason why I generally avoid tipping games with the Preds involved.

I want to take the Leafs to win here and I will be personally but I don’t have enough confidence to make it an official tip. I’m just concerned with the Preds ans Saros playing and that they have won 4 in a row.

Oilers vs Ducks

Skinner will be off for the next 2 games at least as he has flown home for the birth of his first child. The Oilers are going with Jack Campbell for this game. They have dropped their last 2 and are 4-4-2 over 10.

The Ducks are at, or close to, the bottom in all stats. They are at home where they haven’t been very good going 8-11-3. They are in 30th place overall and only 4 points ahead of the last place Hawks.

This could be a good game for Campbell to gain some much needed confidence and turn his season around.

We would need to take the Oilers -1.5 which I’m not comfortable doing.

Sharks vs Kings

The Sharks have lost their last 2 games and have gone 2-5-3 over last 10. They have an 8-10-2 road record this season.

The Kings have won their last 2 and are 7-2-1 over last 10. They are 13-7-2 at home.

Copley has been awesome for the Kings. He has won 3 of his last 4 starts is 11-2 and has a 2.56 GAA and .904 save percentage. As long as he gets the start I don’t see a problem taking the Kings.

Kings in regulation if Copley plays

To WIN moneyline: LA Kings
To WIN reverse puckline: Nashville at +1.5

Don’t see much I like tonight. Nashville playing strong and confident, Toronto losing a few top players out of the lineup tonight. The Leafs may see this as a slack mid-week time to focus on R&R, and Nashville just the hot-running team to take advantage of that. Odds aren’t that bad either.

Stats and trends point to LA winning moneyline or puckline, but you never know. LA should see this stretch of Home games as a solid time of gathering points. After tonight they get two days off at home. Sharks on a back-to-back and winning two games in a row isn’t their pattern this season, especially in such a restrictive situation as this. Not going for the puckline, but it wouldn’t surprise me either, considering how well LA’s played against particular teams recently.

This time of year, it’s once again the Oilers with a major problem of too many goals against and not enough wins. I can’t figure them out. Philly playing great but are off a 1-day rest after a back-to-back, when fatigue can really hit hard. Washington on the road. Just no ideas here.

Toronto William Nylander to score +130

and

Morgan Rielly to score +550

Ultimately stayed away from picking any games. I did wanna initially take Washington because I wanted to fade Philly, but couldn’t get there. G wrote up the other day about Washington maybe taking some time to click offensively with the guys coming back and getting conditioned and I think he was right. I don’t mind waiting until they click even if tonight’s the night they do. Also wanted to fade the Predators but assuming Saros starts, the way he’s been performing is just enough to put me off with the way Toronto is priced. I believe Saros is up to about a .940 save percentage over the last month. Also seen both Toronto goalies under .900 the month I believe. Contradicting myself about by taking a couple Leafs to score but I find value in the odds.

Nylander second behind Tavares of the forward group in shots over the last 5 games. Only one goal to show in that span. Shooting over 15%. Reilly bit more of a long shot. Not expecting that one to cash but if it does there’s value.
