It was a 1-0 night with the NHL Tips last night.
We had the New York Rangers to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers. We expected the Rangers to come out – pardon the pun – flying, after that loss to the Sabres. However it was the other way around with the Flyers looking the much more motivated team. Unfortunately for them but fortunately for us, they lost their lustre and the Rangers took over the game in a big way.
Our other tip was the Habs to win but only if Price was in net. He was not as Montoya was in net for that one and demonstrated why we specified Price needed to be in net – the Habs couldn’t maintain a lead again and if Montoya is in net you’re usually going to see at least 2 goals against them. Habs did get the win though – Pacioretty is an absolute beast mode at the moment. He’s playing in such a manner that I’m tempted to get a new Habs jersey with his name on it. Love seeing him evolve.
We move onto Thursday, January 5th with 7 games on the board. After a 2-0 loss against the Ducks the Red Wings visit LA to take on the Kings. The Wild look to get back on the winning run against the Sharks, and the Blackhawks look to turn their luck around as they visit Buffalo.
The Jackets visit Washington hoping to make it an incredible 17 games in a row. Personally I like the Jackets in this one. The odds are nice, and although the Capitals look to be getting into their groove, the Jackets have shown the Capitals what they’re capable of already this season. On top of that, Torts has a great ability when it comes to blocking out individual star players from making an impact.
Speaking of streaking teams, I think I’ll have to bet the Wild tonight(although not tipping them). Usually when a teams winning streak ends I look to bet against them, but the odds are nice and juicy considering the inconsistency of the Sharks and the Wild are a quality team backed up by a great goaltender. In saying that they’ll probably lose 9-0 now.
Here’s the actual tips for today:
Blues vs Hurricanes Betting Tips:
The Blues are an extremely inconsistent team and hard to back at the moment, but I like them to beat the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
That victory over the Blackhawks in the Classic felt like a nice momentum booster for them – and it came right at the perfect time as we enter 2017.
Canes are coming into this on the back of some dismal performances. Their road form in particular has been extremely poor this season while the Blues don’t have that inconsistency at home – where they’re 15-3-4.
Blues in Regulation.

Blackhawks vs Sabres Betting Tips:
We like the Blackhawks to bounce back strong here after that loss to the Blues, and Hossa returning tonight.
Initially we wanted to take Hawks -1.5 but the Sabres actually ride them pretty strong. It makes Over 5 in this one extremely tempting as well and the Sabres score more on the road than at home. Sabres are actually quite a tight team on the road when you look at a lot of factors.
We’ll stick with Blackhawks in regulation though.

Kings vs Red Wings Betting Tips:
The Kings are one of those teams that have been so hard to figure out this season. they win games you wouldn’t expect and then lose games you wouldn’t expect.
Coreau is possibly in net tonight but regardless of who is in net for the Wings, we like the Kings to win in regulation. Detroit have so many injuries at the moment it’d take me a week just to type them out. We like them to control this game and get a nice little win.

Seems like most people had a good night last night based on yesterday comments (myself included, 4-0 official picks!) I’ve got a feeling we are going to see some really good hockey tonight. Good luck all!
St. Louis Blues ML
Preds / Bolts – Both score in the first period (3.05 odds)
2-0 yesterday
Rangers ML
Jets over 2.5 goals
Tonights bets
Blues in reg
Sharks – Wild over 5.0
GL!
Hi guys, what do you think about San Jose-Minnesota? thanks
I would take minnesota
Tough call. Have a feeling there will be a great match with hopefully a lot of goals!
I am thinking between minnesota dnb or over 5.0
You never know but usually once Minnesota has a lead they just play the trap all game…. but really hockey is so unpredictable thats what makes it great
I do not have the numbers with me but I believe Dubnyk has played poorly vs San Jose. I know most of that was with AZ Coyotes, but I wouldn’t rush to back MN here. SJ has lost two straight, can’t see them dropping three. Sharks 6-1 vs MN at the tank.
Based on current form, I do feel Wild have the egde though.
Dubnyk is the best goalie in the league at the moment at .941 and 1.75 and he is 8-3 on the road.
I like the Wild. see my notes above
10-0 last night! Blues and Kings in regulation I agree with. What are people’s thoughts about Edmonton Boston Over 5. The Oilers score on the road and are coming off getting blasted by McLellan after Tuesday’s loss which means they will likely be hungry. With it being set at 5 I think we at least see a push if not an over there?
agreed
I have a prediction for the world Junior games today… Sweden to win and under 5.5 ( believe the drive is gone now that they are going for bronze) and i hate to say it but USA to win and over 5.5…. thoughts ??
16 wins in a row!!! This is something. Hope make it 17.
So… Blue Jackets, Bruins, Blackhawks and Kings.
Funny! Don’t saw any posts & today all went 394-0 LOL. Some guys didn’t even post ONE pick here ^^ Last night I had Ducks, Rangers and just a small shot on Arizona. For tonight I picked exactly the same like S&G ๐
CBJ ML +110 – As someone recently said, “Caps wait around for Ovie to win game.” They’re going to have a tough time against CBJ, a team that is trying to make history. I like the over but I’m only getting -150 so I will include it in a parlay but no single bet.
Oilers-Bs o5 -125 – Neither team is finding the back of the net much lately, but a push or win seems pretty reasonable.
Preds-Bolts o5.5 +105 – Decent odds for two teams that can both score a bunch or give up a bunch. Vasileskiy is in net for Bolts and he has been horrible. If Preds show up they can take away 2 pts. but I’d rather go with the expected shoot-out.
Wild ML +105 – I like the Wild because they’ve been playing better than Sharks lately. They are 4-1 in last 5 and have been putting up great numbers. They get up for tough games and have a 10-2 record against team with a winning record. San Jose’s blue line is banged up too.
Might jump on Wings-Kings o5 later, but I want to see how early bets go first.
GLTA
I think Oilers performed pretty good against the CBJ and in their recent losses, Boston on the other hand have played pretty averagely recently and the Oilers will be hungry for a win, last 3 games in favour of the oilers too, so clearly they’ve learned how to play against the Bruins recently, maybe this will be the game they need to get a win.
This is the first game these two teams have played against each other this year. In my opinion, whatever happened in past seasons is ancient history and has little effect on today’s game. Neither team is performing well right now, they are both 2-3 in past 5. They are both coming off losses, but Bs have edge in goaltending and playing before a friendly crowd. I like the over, hard to say who is going to win.
I went 2-0 last night and missed out on my 6fold by 1 ๐ but a good night though, tonight I have 3x picks taking BlueJackets, Blues, and Kings Moneyline, take a look at my page @ICE_Bets4NHL for my Acca
What do you think about Tampa-Nashville going over5,5?
Tough games tonight! Some great battles others with low or none value.
I have to take Blue Jackets tonight!
They are really strong, playing very well and showing a huge will to keep their winning streak! I think they not only want to achieve Penguins record but also knock it! Presently Blue Jackets are better then Caps, so I see great value in this pick.
Blue Jackets ML @ 2.13
I also like Oilers vs Bruins to go over & Sharks ML.
January: 2/3 & +0.851u
GL to all!
I agree with the Jackets to be honest, I mean yes, every streak has to end, but this isn’t a normal streak at this point, they want to at least TIE that record tonight, they will fight hard for it and the caps almost lost to the Leafs recently, in a not so spectacular performance, I think the Jackets get the job done here and make some history.
But we need a better Bobrovsky…
I already think that games a loss, 3-0 to caps and Bobrovsky looks terrible today.
Backes is out for Bs tonight. makes a difference
