The bookies called for a low scoring game yesterday and they were correct. It was a much tighter game than Game 1. The Lightning offense didn’t get too many shots on target but it was enough as they were able to run out 2-1 winners and take a 2-0 lead.
What’s notable is the consistency of the Islanders offense going into this with so many games where they scored 3+ goals. Two games and they haven’t been able to hit that mark yet. Going to have to find that scoring edge if they want to progress.
We now have Game 3 of the Knights vs Stars game where we have already seen two shut-outs. Going into this series many would have expected lots of goals but so far that is not the case.
The Stars won 1-0 in the first game and in Game 2, Lehner shut the Stars out as they won 3-0. In saying that – wasn’t like Lehner really had a tough job that night. Stars xG was 1.51 there.
Stars vs Knights Game 3 Betting Tips:
Graeme: When there are so few games, it’s always hard to really call or make bets. Sort of why we are forcing ourselves to make a bet a game. We’ve been here before and when you have one game a night and it’s the same teams we’ve watched time and time again over the last month – it can be quite hard to muster up bets or find value.
I do look into trends as much as I can but not seeing too much going into this one.
Stars are starting to regress it looks like. They have over-performed in the playoffs so far but it looks like it may be catching up to them.
Their offense was spectacular in that Avs series and you have to wonder if they can get going again. It’s not like the Knights are perfect either and have slipped up a few times.
Game 3’s when things are split are usually quieter affairs if I recall – I remember analyzing that at some point over the last couple of weeks. But I am rooting for the Stars offense to get clicking and make this a series.
One of those where my heart wants there to be goals and wants to back the over – however I made that mistake in Islanders vs Flyers Game 7. The metrics all point to the Knights and the price makes it worth the play.
Knights In Regulation if Lehner starts
Scott: Well the Lightning were able to score on Khudobin but the same can’t be said of the Stars. Lehner made 24 saves for his 2nd shutout in a row and his 4th in his last 7 starts.
The Stars pulled Khudobin after the 2nd period. The Knights looked great and that’s got to worry the Stars. Reeves returned from hia suspension and was throwing hits that helped the Knights. Him and Carrier are two guys who don’t show up on the scoresheets but what they do is just as important for the teams success.
Now that the Knights got back on track I’ll back them to win this game and if they play like that again then this could be a short series.
