A winning night last night as the Pittsburgh Penguins duly delivered.
Thank you Pittsburgh after I put my faith in you. Like I said yesteday that’s a spot where the Pens have dropped the ball (or puck) numerous times so it can be hard to go back to it. Despite all that I just kept looking at it and thinking it was the right move to make regardless.
The Islanders won alas that pick was goalie dependent and Varl wasn’t in net. It’s likely some of you got on that one regardless of goalie though so congrats on that. How about those Red Wings? Oof big win over Tampa.
Was a fun night of hockey. We’ve got a quieter night of 5 games which I always prefer. 5-6 games is my jam. Sucky Saturday has 12 games not looking forward to that.
Let’s look at the games:
Wild vs Coyotes:
Wild heavy favourites here. They’re obviously the better team and just coming off two victories over the Knights. Coyotes however are coming off a win and an OT loss to the Avs and also a victory over the Wild.
Kahkonen in net tonight I expect and he is rocking it at the moment. Raanta was huge in the Coyotes last game against the Avs. He has really stepped up big time.
Wild with a 7-3-0 record at home. Coyotes 5-3-1 on the road. The way the WIld almost blew their lead against the Knights was nutso.
I think the Wild we can back here. Coyotes were hella lucky in that Avs game. They’ve been getting a bit of the puck luck lately. Beating the Avs probably isn’t that big an accomplishment right now either. If Raanta has another insane game so be it.

Blues vs Knights:
With Logan Thompson expected to be in the net for the nights tonight – no bet. With Tarasenko back and readjusting etc and the Knights without Piet etc I do like the Blues but too big an unknown with Thompson.
Avalanche vs Kings:
Avs should not be this heavy a favourite. The question is do I have the confidence to bet on the Kings?
These two played early in the season in LA. Kings lost 3-2 then won 4-2. Loved the Kings last performance with Grosenick between the pipes. MacKinnon back for the Avs of course. Still got a hefty injury list though.
Anyway I’m not sure who is in net for the Kings and that’s a big Q. I’m staying away. But if you’re looking for an +EV underdog to gamble on they’d be my pick.
Oilers vs Senators:
Can the Sens have any sort of a bounce back game after that 7-1 drubbing? It’s been hit and miss this season whether they do that or not – mostly miss. Look at that Canucks series for example.
The in regulation for the Oilers are below our threshold of 1.70. No bet but man it’s probably +EV even at 1.64.
Ducks vs Sharks:
Neither is a team I really feel like backing. Probably a fine game to bet that it goes to OT on.
Coyotes ML with 5 units
Knights ML with 5 units
Oilers to win.
That’s all I can find. Tomorrow’s games look a little better.
Raanta had a great game but it took the entire team to shut down the Avs. I like the Yotes to maintain the Mo and keep it close here and maybe even come out with the W, especially with Talbot in net for the Wild. I’m on Yotes ml.
The Kings are going to pay the price for Raanta stoning the Avs last time out. Plus, Avs are going to have this game circled to get back back at the Kings for the last game these two games played. With the Kings on the road in frigid snowy Denver expect the Avs to feast on home cooking. Avs PL
