A busy day of NHL action yesterday with 8 games.
The Flames beat the Sens 5-1 which was their 3rd win in last 4. They are still out of the playoffs but now are 5 points out. The Sens have lost their last 2 games and are 6 points behind the Isles for the final playoff spot.
The Coyotes beat the Wild 5-4 in overtime. The Wild have gone 4-0-2 in March and are in 2nd in the Central.
The Knights won against the Blues for their 3rd straight win and they are still in 1st in the Pacific. The Bruins and Red Wings played for the 2nd day in a row and this time the Wings won 5-3.
The Penguins beat the Rangers 3-2 in overtime, the Jets picked up a much needed win against the Lightning and the Devils shutout the Hurricanes 3-0 which moved them into a tie for 1st place in the Metro with the Canes.
A slow day of hockey with only 3 games scheduled.
Avalanche vs Canadiens
The Avalanche are in a battle for 3rd place in the Central. They have gone 6-3-1 over last 10.
The Habs have lost their last 6 games and continue to drop in the standings. If there is a silver lining to their losing skid its that all games but 1 were decided by a single goal including 2 shootouts against some tough teams.
As expected the Avalanche are the favorites here and to get any value we have to go -1.5. This month they have gone 2-3-1. The had one win a 6-0 pounding of the Sharks where they were at home.
I just can’t take them to win by 2 with their recent results. And with the Habs one a 6 game skid I have no faith in them.
Sabres vs Maple Leafs
The Sabres have struggled recently. They have lost 4 in a row and are now .
The Leafs have won their last 2 games and are in 2nd in the Atlantic with 88 points in 65 games and the Lightning are in 3rd with 84.
They have played twice this season with the Leafs winning both.
I thought of doing an over play but of the last 4 games between these teams only one went over 7 and the other 3 hit 7 exactly.
But the Leafs home record of 24-6-4 is enough for me to take them.

Stars vs Kraken
The Stars are in 1st in the Central but can’t be comfortable with the Wild right behind them. They are on a 2 game winning streak.
The Kraken are in 3rd in the Pacific with 81 points. The Oilers are right behind them . They have lost their last 2 games and are 5-4-1 over last 10.
On the road the Stars have gone 19-8-5 and at home the Kraken are 16-13-4.
This should be a good game between 2 strong teams who both need points.
Buffalo Tage Thompson to score +120
Colorado Devon Toews to score +400
Lot of minus money on the usual suspects in todays games. Don’t think Colorado’s JT Compher is the worst choice given the value at +215. Buffalo also has Tuch as a game time last I checked. Has missed the last 8 games. I tend to like to wait a couple games for them once they come back and my book currently doesn’t even have odds on him. Which made it easier for me.
