Only 3 games yesterday.
I checked early in the day and Nylander was listed as injured but he played in the Leafs 3-2 win against the Rangers and scored. My apologies for the misinformation there.
The Stars flexed hard on the Kings beating them 6-2. At home the Kings are a strong defensive team, on the road not so much. The Avalanche beat the Wild 5-2 which tied them in points in the Central for 3rd but the Wild have a game in hand.
We have 13 games today. Some early start times too so I’ll get these out as soon as possible.
Lightning vs Capitals
This should be a good game.
The Lightning are on a 7 game win streak and are 8-1-1 in last 10. At home they have gone 21-7-2.
The Caps are on a 2 game skid, 5-2-3 last 10 and 20-7-2 in the road.
The Lightning are ranked 2nd in GPG and the Caps 1st.
The Lightnings last 7 games had totals of; 3, 5, 5, 8, 9, 6 and 7. The Caps last 7; 7, 4, 10, 11, 9 and 7. I see this as a high scoring game
Looking at GF/60 and XGF/60 for both and 6 seems doable.

Predators vs Islanders
These are two teams that I avoid so an easy pass here.
Bruins vs Penguins
Bruins are struggling at the moment. They have lost 5 in a row. Things aren’t going to get any easier for them with McAvoy and Lindholm both still out.
The Penguins are 4-5-1 in last 10. They are in 8th in the Metro and have gone 14-12-4 at home.
With both teams struggles I’m passing.
Flames vs Panthers
The Flames are the Flames. They will continue to fight to get a spot in the playoffs. As it stands there are in 9th place and only 1 point behind the Canucks.
The Panthers are on a 2 game win streak and have done so without Tkachuk who hasn’t played since the break ended. They are 7-3 in last 10 and 18-10-2 at home.
I do think the Panthers win here but it would have to be -1.5 and with the Flames in 9th place and only a point behind the wild card spot they should show so life in this game.
Wing vs Jackets
They just played and this is part of the NHL Stadium Series so I’m not touching that. I’m sure it will be fun to watch and, for Graeme, be at. Hopefully he has fun and all of the beers he drinks are warm and gross.
Oilers vs Hurricanes
Oilers are 3-6-1 in last 10 and have lost their last 5 games in a row. The Canes won their last game but are 4-5-1 in last 10.
Should be a good game and I could see it going either way. They played once this season and it needed overtime for the Canes to win 3-2. Just another reason why I think this will be a close one.
Flyers vs Jets
Flyers 4-4-2 in last 10 and are in 6th in the Metro. On the road they have gone 11-13-7.
The Jets just had their 11 game win streak snapped and I expect them to get back in the win column to keep their spot at the top of the standings. They are 23-5-3 at home this season and welcome in a team who’s .500 so far. I like their chances.
Jets have better numbers in Corsi, Fenwick, SF, SA, GF, GA and basically every piece of data I can find to compare these teams goes the Jets way.

Canadiens vs Sabres
Nothing here.
Sharks vs Senators
Sharks on a 7 game losing skid, the Sens have lost their last 5.
On the road the Sharks have been bad going 6-18-7, at home the Sens have gone 16-9-2.
Brady Tkachuk is expected back for this game for the Sens which is huge. He hasn’t played since the 4 Nations where he was a key piece to the American team. If the Sens want to make a push for a playoff spot then now is the time to do so.
It would need to be the Sens -1.5 which should happen but the data isn’t on the Sens side enough to make it a play.
Kings vs Blues
Kings played yesterday.
The Blues have won 3 in a row and are getting closer to a playoff spot. They are 3 points behind the Canucks who hold the 8th spot. They are 14-14-3 at home.
With Kings on the road I’ll pass on them and the Blues are a team, like the Preds, I generally avoid. I’m passing.
Devils vs Utah
The Devils are in 3rd in the Metro but they need to gain points. They are only 2 behind the 2nd place Canes and 4 ahead of the 4th place Jackets. They are 5-5 in last 10 and 17-12-2 on the road.
Utah has won their last 3 games and are 6-3-1 in last 10. They’re in 5th in the Central, 7 behind the Avs and 1 ahead of the Blues. At home they have gone 12-12-6.
Would think the Devils win here but Utah is playing well at the moment and are at home so I have to pass.
Canucks vs Kraken
Canucks 5-4-1 in last 10 and in 4th in the Pacific. They have a better road record than they do a home one going 16-11-4 away from Vancouver.
The Kraken are in 7th in the Pacific, on a 2 game losing skid and are 3-6-1 in last 10. At home they’ve gone 13-14-4.
I just don’t see anything worth tipping from this game.
Blackhawks vs Ducks
Another pass.
