We went 1-1 last night.
Went with over 6 in the Oilers vs Stars game and the Stars won 5-3. This was the Oilers first loss of the season after scoring first and are now 21-1-0 when they score first. The NHL record to begin a season winning after scoring first is 22 set back in 1944-45 by the Canadiens. The win put the Stars in the wild card spot and pushed the Knights back to 9th.
It seemed like it was going to be a Rangers win as they were up 2-0 after the 1st. But in the 2nd the Devils said “piss on that” and scored 5 unanswered in the period and won the game 7-4. Just a terrible showing from the Rangers.
The Jets shutout the Knights 4-0 and the Jets are now only 3 points back of the final wild card spot. The Canes beat the Lightning 3-2 to move into a tie for 1st place with the Panthers in the Eastern Conference. The Kings beat the Preds 6-1 and the Preds remain in the first wild card spot but tied in points with the Wild who are in 3rd in the Central.
A slower night with only 4 games.
Devils vs Leafs Betting Tips:
The Leafs are in 3rd in the Atlantic and trail the Lightning by only 1 point and are 7 back of the division leading Panthers.
The Devils are 29 points back of the wild card spot with 19 games left. Mathematically they are still in it but, let’s be honest, they are out.
The Leafs should win this game but the odds just aren’t worth it. A Leafs -1.5 is only 1.76. If it was for a regulation win I would take it but not for a win by 2 or more. And who knows how it plays out with Kallgren still very green with only 4 starts under his belt or Mrazek who was waived and went unclaimed. That really has to hurt a players mojo.
Penguins vs Sabres Betting Tips:
They have played twice this season with both teams winning once.
The Pens are in a battle at the top of the Metro where they are in 2nd with 87 points, 3 back of the division leading Canes and 2 ahead of the Rangers.
The Sabres are out of the playoff picture where they trail the final wild card spot by 28 points with only 19 games remaining.
The Pens have won 5 of their last 6 and are on a hot streak at a great time. The Sabres have won 2 in a row but both needed overtime.
With the way the Pens are rolling I see. Ow reason not to back them here. They are on the road where they have gone 21-7-4 this season.

Canucks vs Avalanche Betting Tips:
The Canucks are 5 points back of the Stars who are in the 2nd and final wild card position. The Avalanche are the top team in the league and have a 5 point cushion over the 2nd place Panthers.
There really isn’t any value on taking the Avalanche unless we go with -1.5. They have won 4 in a row and all would have covered that except their last game where they beat the Oilers 3-2 in overtime.
They have played twice this season with the Avs winning both and both were by big margins; 4-2 and 7-1.
The Canucks still have a chance at the postseason so they will come out swinging here as they can’t afford not to. And with that being said I have to skip this game.
Blackhawks vs Ducks Betting Tips:
The Hawks are screwed. They made some moves that will help them in the future but, after Toews said what he said, you have to wonder how much motivation they will have to show up to the rink each day.
The Ducks are in the same boat. They made some moves to better their team moving forward but with 17 games left they are only 8 points out and it seems like they figured they didn’t have a shot.
The Hawks have lost 3 straight and the Ducks lost their last 7. One of those losing streaks end tonight but I have no idea who wins.
