Well another loss where we were looking good early, but the team was unable to hold a lead. We had the Avs in regulation and they were up 2-0 going into the third period. Alas the Coyotes managed to bounce back. The Avs took it in a shootout.
Little bit of a rough patch at the moment. First real rough patch of the season and a crappy time for it – not just because it’s the end of the season but because March started so strong and now it’s going to taint it somewhat.
It’s interesting as for the last couple of weeks now I’ve said how tricky it is. Looking at yesterdays games for example I had quite a few bets I was leaning towards, but nothing I could back with any sort of confidence. It was so easy to talk myself out of plays.
I spent some time yesterday looking back at the last couple of seasons around this time, and our notes in regard to all the tips to see if it was a trend. It wasn’t however. Even if it was two teams with nothing to play for or one team with something to play for – we generally had a strong level of confidence. Just something about this season.
With the end of the season so close, I think I am just going to spend some time analyzing every game and giving my opinion, as opposed to actually giving tips. That doesn’t mean no more tips however – if I am analyzing a game and something jumps out at me and gives me levels of confidence, I’ll back it.
I also find it’s an excellent way to ride through a rough patch. Losing is part of gambling but it always sucks and if you’ve lost a few in a row, it can affect your mind and how you place bets. Either add in desperation or mess up your confidence. So taking a step back and a more casual approach – a couple of nights of no bets but still analyzing the games – is always good to get you back on track.
Funnily enough – the very first game I analyzed today, I couldn’t pull myself away from a tip:
Panthers vs Bruins Betting Tips:
Panthers are always a hard fighting team. They’re officially out of the playoffs but I think we’ll see some good games from them going forward now there’s no pressure.
Bruins are scoring the goals at the moment but unable to stop conceding them.
Panthers offense has been contributing a lot with that Habs game the only real black mark on them going back awhile.
Always risky of course when neither team really has anything to play for but recent performances suggest they should both be up for it.
0.5u on over 6.5 goals incl OT/SO
Like I said though things haven’t been going our way this past week so proceed with caution. But I spent awhile trying to argue against this pick and can’t.

Hurricanes vs Flyers: The Hurricanes are starting to stumble a bit now it’s got down to the wire. However when you look at it it’s the top teams they are struggling against. A bit humbling but they’re always a workhorse. In saying that it’s do or die time for the Flyers. Their chances are extremely low but sometimes you see that from a team – it spurs them on knowing they just have to win. I could argue for Hurricanes in reg in terms of believing they’re the better side, but also Flyers to win knowing it’s win or go home time. I’d lean Canes.
Islanders vs Sabres: Buffalo haven’t shown much lately and the Islanders can clinch a playoff spot with a win. The price isn’t there but I’d be very surprised if Islanders in regulation lost.
Jets vs Habs: With how all over the place the Jets have been in the second half of the season, and the Habs generally performing well, I think the right move is a bet on the Habs. The price just isn’t there for me though to advise it in what is a very risky spot though especially with the home/road split.
Blues vs Devils: I mean last night pretty much sums up how weird things are right now. Blues on a tear and can clinch a playoff spot after beating the Knights and Tampa so they lose to the Rangers. And in that fashion too. Devils at 2.75 is probably a value play although they haven’t shown too much and that Red Wings thumping was tough.
Leafs vs Senators: I’d normally be backing the over here and I do think it’ll happen but man it’s tough to put faith in the Leafs at all at the moment. I have a lot of concerns. I’d think after the last loss in Ottawa they’d be fired up and motivated but that’s something they have struggled with a lot this year. Betting the over, can’t advise it.
Capitals vs Lightning: After the last couple of games between the teams the over seems like the automatic bet. But man it can take a lot to get there and I stay away from Caps right now.
Sharks vs Knights: What the hell is going on with the Knights? At one point they were looking like a strong contender for the West. Now they’ve just lost the mojo again. Maybe Fleury really means that much to them. I’d probably lean towards Knights with the Sharks performances and injuries but the value isn’t there.
Blue Jackets vs Predators: If this season is anything to go by, the Blue Jackets got that crucial win against the Habs so they’ll blow it here. If the Jackets were a nice price I’d bet on them but it’s coinflip odds which is just about right.
Oilers vs Ducks: Nope.
Stars vs Canucks: Stars is probably the right play but despite solid performances lately they haven’t regained my confidence yet.
Blackhawks vs Kings: Hawks are just completely unbackable at these odds but I wouldn’t bet against them.
