He pulled off an incredible save at the death, to screw over the Bruins and give us the Wings in regulation one. Heck of a goalie at times.
That made it a 2-0 night, as the Flyers/Sabres game went over nice and easy too.
Leafs got a solid win over the Kings, and the Oilers got a big OT win over the Flames.
Let’s see if anything is out there on the usual big back to back Sunday:
Panthers vs Canadiens:
Yeah I mean with recent results, and the Habs allegedly still in the race for that wild card spot that no-one seemingly wants – I’m not interested in a Panthers -1.5 play at all here. Not until their offense starts producing but they seem to be phoning it in until closer to the playoffs.
Capitals vs Sabres:
Washington coming off that loss to Minnesota. Buffalo in that loss to the Flyers yesterday in a fun game. Would have to be Caps -1.5 and the metrics don’t back that with Caps offense overproducing big time. Like I could see it for sure but the xG data to back it up isn’t there.
Jets vs Canucks:
While neither team are on a back to back, it’s one where I look at recent results – plus the fact they played recently – and it’s a big “Eh” from me. Metrics don’t come close to the Jets -1.5 or anything. The over 5.5 seems reasonable.
Blackhawks vs CLUB:
Nothing jumping out here either. CLUB probably shouldn’t be as heavily favoured I mean heck a worse xGA/60 than Hawks etc but Chicago not worth backing either.
Hurricanes vs Islanders:
The data is certainly close for backing the Canes -1.5. My concern about it at times is the goaltending – but their defensive metrics are solid enough.
Let’s see – GF/60 of 3.5 last t0 compared to Islanders 2.53. GA/60 of 2.1 to 3.31. xGF% of 58.09. Islanders are able to create, and they’ve been pretty good the last littleb it of scoring as well.
But they ARE on a back to back against a top team so could be flat here especially with the Canes – despite some slight recent inconsistencies – looking strong in the final run to the playoffs. Kochetkov expected to be in

Penguins vs Senators:
Eh – I could see this being a trap game for the Sens. I mean wild card spot is secured. On the road on a back to back. Pittsburgh at home and rested etc and they have had good results here.
If Pens were better dog odds I’d back them here I think – but their goaltending/defense is so woeful, the gamble aspect isn’t there at 2.10 odds.
Ducks vs Leafs:
Ducks fresh after that solid Rangers game. I’m not seeing a bet here. Honestly, the over actually is a play that might be worthwhile but the Leafs have been a bit weird lately in terms of goals etc.
Kings vs Sharks:
Kings on a two game skid and will be hoping to end that as they host San Jose. The bookies certainly think so (even if the metrics don’t) as I’d have to back Kings -2.5 at our threshold and yeeeeah – not happening. If their goaltending goes tits up, they could be in trouble. No play.
LA were being their usual stingy self most game… can’t believe Toronto cracked it in the 3rd, glad i didn’t bet that one. I slept a lot better, lol!
San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings are looking to get back on track after losing their games last night.
The Kings played in the afternoon, so they’ll have a bit more rest, the Sharks also had to travel after yesterday’s away game, although it’s not a long trip to Los Angeles.
This will be the fourth head-to-head matchup between these teams. The Kings won the first game in Los Angeles, but the next two games went to the visitors of tonight’s game.
I think the Kings will get back on track on Monday night (for me) ,but that could be a tough task today. The Sharks like to surprise. On top of that, they have the pressure of losing two games in a row.
